Riverman, Thanks for the Video. I think Zara Spook is a good explanation of movement. I am going to have to try one...maybe long line a sinker in about 30ft. of water to pick up some suspenders. Clemmy, That is some good imformation. I had wondered about the Zoom name but being as I had never seen them before I was'nt shure. The way Zoom occupies shelf space you would think there cranks would be easy to get hold of. Being one hour from Lake Fork I am still jealous you are in Florida...12ft. max,..Choked Vegetation,..hmm..when can I be there!

So..A glider really glides and does not waggle? Wow, I have never seen that before. I am guessing you can fish it anyway you want to? I wonder why they have not made it to the Bass Market? Can someone tell me when the Zoom Crankbaits were made. Blackjacks lures look great, hope I do not have to buy some....I think I hear that Bait Monkey coming!

I have seen the term Tapp Copy and Horton. Could someone give me a history lesson as to what they mean or refer to. Also..Glider, I am assuming it is a lippless crankbait? Thanks!
  9. Biosonix or BSX. It sells for around 700.00 bucks. Tackle Warehouse was selling them, if not you can buy them from the BSX site. Do they work? You can PM me if you feel the need.

    Death roll

Tow Line inline with the ballast? So by tweaking the towline we can find the spot where the ballast and towline align during bait operation? By putting the towline inline with the ballast are we talking about center weighting on a typical bait design? As opposed to placing the ballast as low as possible? Are we creating overstability like a center of pressure thing? Why have I not tried the metal lip? Being a "x" tinknocker I am ashamed! Gotta go...my brain is thinking and nothing is happening! I am not grasping the towline thing!
  11. The first calculation that I was able to perform was to calculate how many waggles per second the lure would perform for a particular lip width and retrieval speed, interesting but totally useless! Vodkaman....this is not useless. I have been thinking about this for the last few weeks! It ought to be on the darn package! I am tired of trying baits to see what they do, and then retire them to the Wall of Shame. I would like to know WPS before I bought the lure. Slow...or Fast waggles. These are things that I am looking at in choosing a bait! There should also be a rating for the distance it waggles. Does it waggle 10 degrees or does it waggle 140 degees? I wish I had a dollar for everytime somebody said you really ought to try this bait..It has a real nice tight wobble! Then you get it on the water and the thing nearly rips your arm off! At least some companys let you know if it has rattles or not. There will allways be something to improve on... including lure design!
  12. So...x-ing is half roll and half yaw? A Bagley B or square bill would be mainly yaw? I have taken the tail and moved it up above the x axis and it seems to have knocked alot of the roll off. Does that make sense? I was allready maxed on weight. I still may have to change the bill angle. Trying to tweak it so it runs at all speeds. I guess it is better to have too much roll and come down from there than to start with none at all. Thanks for the last post, that has the information I need. Maybe no anti-depressants tonight!
  13. Thanks Everybody. I had not really paid attention to other movements until I started with a deep belly flat side design. And.. Yes I got what you are calling the X thing going on. It was the hardest thing to control that I had come upon. It may not be a fishcatcher but it is fun (Frustrating) to play around with. Now I have some other movements to look at I had not even thought of. The tweaking goes on! And since I said the action behind the bill...Is the bill doing the same thing the body is doing but in a much tighter fashion? I guess it is since it is attached to the body. Why have I not looked at it that way before? Thanks Vodkaman for waking up my brain!
  14. OK..I am coming out of the closet. Yes, I have a problem! Upon my old post searches it seems like wiggle, wobble, etc, are used to define everything going on behind the bill? So I would like help with terminology. Having looked down on a crankbait my whole life I can see the action between the Head and Tail and somewhat understand it. What words can apply to this action? I am more curious in the action that I can feel but can't see. The action between the Back and Belly. What terms would apply to this action? I can allmost understand this. But my Peon Brain can not put both of them together! What are some things I could look at to change the action between the back and the belly? With the baits that I have built it is either there or not. So I obviously still do not understand what I am doing to cause it. Thanks for the cool site! P.S....I was going to hang it up and then I stumbled on this site and saw Maddox Bays Divers...Awesome!
