I like it, Does it bite?
  2. Mark, that is very good and very sound advice. It took a lot of years to learn what you just said. Nathan, more good advice. Bob, you too. Good advice. Guys, listen to them do your research and think long and hard before investing in something that may cost you your fortune if it doesn't work out. Nathan is right IMHO. Do it as a hobby for a while make sure that you really like it. There is a lot to learn and Its a lot of fun when you get it right. It is also a lot of time spent with not a lot of return for your effort. Then there is the red tape, IRS, Business taxes, excise taxes, sales taxes to collect and pay. Bookkeeping, accounting fees. Using Lead? EPA to deal with. I am sure that I left out many things. A few years ago, I thought I wanted to start up a small business making lures. I got discouraged really quick once I started doing my research. I think had I done so that I would not have enjoyed making lures anymore and am pretty sure that I would have not have had any time to use and enjoy what I would have made. I decided to just stay poor and happy and keep it as a hobby. Not trying to discourage you and it can be done. Just be sure that you are willing to give it your all before you invest everything you have. As mark said, Its a lot easier and faster to spend it than it is to earn it. My worth. Good luck whatever you decide. John
  3. Hi Dieter, Great minds think alike, I like your idea, this is the same thing that I do except that I put a barrel swivel at both ends next to the screws so that I can roll/turn the lure to get at all sides. John

    Pull bait

Again, an interesting design. Does it swim like a jointed swimbait?

    rainbow

Interesting design,What is the purpose of the lexan wings? Are they there to stabilize the bait and keep it from Rolling? Thanks for sharing, I've never seen anything like it.
  6. I second what smalljaw said. I don't think there is a better swivel out there than a Worth. Like ukey28, I tried the cheaper imported swivels and many of them were of poor quality. I also would highly recommend Worth blades. The quality and finish of their blades is second to none. John
  7. It isn't made anymore. You might check on ebay. there was some for sale there several months ago but it was expensive.

    Small School

Can't wait to throw one. The home made i was telling you about had similiar colors and was fairly big and I shaped it like a tad pole. I still have it somewhere but my top coat and seal coat both failed and it water logged.

  12. It is easier to buy them than to make them but if you want to give it a try, here is something I came up with some time back, if you would like to try making your own. John http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/16840-making-a-starter-stud-corkscrew/page__fromsearch__1

  17. What Ben said, Diemai's creations and his metal working skills are incredible. He is also very thorough with his explanations as to how to do things. I think it would get you on the right track. John
  18. Haven't tried an epoxy head, I didn't have the patience to wait on it to cure. Hot Glue works well and cures quickly. Not the easiest thing to get out of the mold, but it works.
  19. macstakleman, I too have put a lot of thought in this since seeing this thread. I think your idea is spot on but I just don't have the smarts to get the angles exactly the same on both sides. Free handing and trial and error won't cut it on this one. I am thinking, that maybe I could make a form to hold the mold that would attach to the table of the drill press then tilting the table and drilling it this way. flip it over and drill the other side. my big worry here, is that the small bit is going to flex and possibly break off in the aluminum mold. I have had this happen before and it is a real pain to remove and sometimes impossible. My other idea is to drill out the jig you want to make one of and make a silicone mold of it with pins inserted. My two¢ worth. John
  20. Hello Vic, I went back and watched Gene's video again then looked at the amount of cutting surface that you have exposed and your new handle and guard that you made for the template. I think that with a lot of caution I would feel fairly safe using it. that is a really neat set-up. I think you might also use this set-up for rounding over flat sided cranks. Thank you Gene and Vic for sharing.
