Kind of like the A-rig and Tn. Rig, I not sure that any one really knew where to post them, myself included. John
  2. Thanks Rookie. I will give that a try. And as always, you have a great sense of humor, it made me smile. John

Those are all very nice, Its hard to tell by the pic but it looks like you are using a single stirrup/clevis for each individual blade. Not trying to criticize your bait, it is very fine. If you have not seen this, you might want to look at it. The Worth Company makes a double stirrup clevis which I think would do really well on a bait like this with those opposing blades. Will try to find a link to it. To get the attention of the musky fishermen, they maybe should have been posted in the spinner baits gallery. John

Diemai, I like that body shape as well. I enjoyed watching your video. I really like the smooth swimming motion that most of your baits have. John
  6. Bob, I haven't seen a G-finish in a long time. I could be wrong but if memory serves me right, it was kind of a prismatic finish with several different and subtle color hues/shifts as you turned or rotated the lure. vabassen02, Good luck with this one, I hope you are successful. Would like to see a pic if it works. John
  7. I use Alumilite for the casting and have tried spraying the mold with Pam, WD-40 and several different lubes that I purchased from Lowe's a couple of them had a teflon formula which I thought would slick it up and keep it from sticking. None of them made it any easier to get the casting out of the mold. If you let it cure beyond a certain point, getting it out destroys the casting and really makes a mess inside the cavity which has to be cleaned before you can use it again. Taking it out before it reaches that certain point does the same thing. The easiest way in my opinion to make what you are wanting to make would be to pour one in lead and make yourself a silicone mold of it which which will not stiick to any thing but silicone. Hopefully, some one else may know of something that will keep it from sticking to an aluminum mold. Anyone?
  8. Saw something similiar to this on a Japanese web site. This one weighs 5/8 oz
  9. Mark, These two fellows are correct. I also use only Worth swivels and the # 2.5 fine split ring. Hope the #3 will work for you. John
  10. smalljaw, thanks for the compliment, My modifications are sometimes not so pretty and all are carefully thought and rethought before proceeding. All are done freehand with a hack saw, dremel and or drill press. I have messed up a couple of mold cavities when I first started doing this and have learned to go slow and think about each step, grind or cut before I make it. I usually achieve/attain my goal and other than the loooks of the mold, am happy with the end result.
  11. Thanks for that tip flippinfool, I ave never tried or even thought of opening a hook eye. I always assumed that the wire being tempered that it would break. Again, thanks I will be giving this one a try. John
  12. I went an additional step further and modified an Arky jig mold to accept an .035 link which I form with the chatter blade attached permanately this is then inserted through the eye of a spinnerbait hook and laid in the mold and then I pour the lead. I suppose you could call it a through wired lure like a balsa crankbait is done. nothing can come apart. It is a nice little set up and you don't have to worry about a big fish forcing the jig eye open and losing the bait with fish attached. John

Hey Vic I will make a guess about this one. I think that this will be a thru wired bait and when the wire is passed thru the body that a swivel or some sort of hook hanger will be inserted in the indention and the thru wire will be passed thru it to hold it in. that is my thoughts.
  15. About two weeks ago, I tried getting .035 from three different suppliers. All of them were out of it. I think it may have something to do with the Alabama Rig craze. It seems that just about everyone is attempting to make it. I am sure the supply will catch up with demand soon. John
  16. Crazyju, I do like those. John

    Trick or Treat

Dang it Vic, You gonna keep on until I start envying your stuff like I do some of the other artists on here :-) Good Job!
  18. Thanks SmallJaw, I Was just curious. I'm almost an Old Timer I should know that. I still have some of the old square cut in black and brown and possibly a little avocado and some pale orange if I remember right. I do know that 20 years ago that I used to catch a lot more big fish than I do now. I just assumed that it was pressure and a lot of the big ones having been caught out. I guess I'll give it a try again if it hasn't gone bad. Its been at least 15 years maybe longer since I have tied this stuff. John
  19. Just curious, why would you want the square cut over the round cut. Or put another way, What is the advantage to using it instead of the round ?

    Two more Tn. Rig Pics

Thanks bassnbrad. When I make anything, I try to do the best job that I can. Some times, all it takes is using the old brain for what it was meant to do. Mine ain't what it used to be but it still works occasionally. The alumilite is pretty tough stuff but I was a little worried that on the small end of the bait that it could bust out the sides if someone was not careful with it. The three .035 wires fit inside the rivet perfectly four wires will not go through it.

    A few finished lures

Thanks Vic, my grandson and I went to the fishing show this morning. I took 15 of these with me to show to some of my friends. I gave one of them away and while showing them to another, some one came up and asked me where I found these at. I told him hat I made them and he asked me would I sell some too him. I said gladly for $10.00 each. He bought 3 and while he was looking at them someone else bought one. I also sold one of my spinnerbaits while doing this. That was a nice x-tra for the trip.
  22. I have wondered about this also. Do you think that the ink that you would use to refill an ink jet cartridge woud work?

    A few finished lures

Dug out the old air brush and painted these with acrylics. wasn't sure it would still work. I haven't used it since my grand son was born 3½ years ago. It sputtered and spit a little but I managed to get 20 of these painted. This is the last Tn Rig I will post. Just thought someone else might want to give a jig mold a try for making these.

    Two more Tn. Rig Pics

I know this subject has been worn out and this is the last one I will post. This was made using Alumilite and the Ultra Minnow Jig mold. It was a real PIA to get it to release from the mold if it cured beyond a certain point. I added an aluminum rivet on the inside of the bait to keep from busting out the sides when bending the wires. I used .035 stainless wire and and an aluminum ferrule to hook the tow eye and the wires together.
