    First Try

That's a classic worm that'll get bit. That would be a good mold to make over-pours from to make a POP mold with 10 or 12 cavities. As you start pouring more you'll see the need for more cavities. Welcome to the machine
  2. How long is the swimbait? Better have a good grip on the rod when that gets bit! Good work.
  3. Wishing you and yours a blessed and peaceful Christmas.

    My new weedless bait

Great looking baits...what length? I have carved an original design big swimbait ( a fat 5 1/2") and have failed on tail design twice. They didn't swim at slow speed well enough. I think my mistake was a combination of not enough tail depth and too thick on the approach. I'm going to make another this winter. Good luck.
  7. don't know the minimum but check the prices...you might be surprised...I think my 5" boxes were 24 cents...cheapest I found...let me know if you find something better...my first case is getting down there.
  8. Placon (placon.com)is a source that I've used and have been satisfied with their price and service.
  9. Great story and super job on your first mold and pour. You're right, RTV would release better for a bait like that..but looks like the baits work just fine. That's a very nice fish...especially coming from water so cold. Welcome to the machine
  10. Have a great Thanksgiving...enjoy the family and football...plenty of time to make baits this winter
  11. Those are awesome baits...complicated work...great job
  12. Great job..it's funny you mentioned seeing the tape reflected in the POP..some folks think that POP with Elmers doesn't show detail. That's an interesting bait. What got me started pouring was a minnow about 3" long with a straight tail that I couldn't get anymore. I still have those 35 year old molds. Welcome to the machine and show us your upcoming pours.
  13. Good lookin' mold and baits. Oomoo is the best
  14. Great idea...lot of possibilities
  15. Good job...glad the tutorial helped. Those baits will catch fish
  16. I've read on a couple sites that Nick Creme poured the first plastic worm in his kitchen in 1949.
  17. Great work, Jim...you da man!
  18. seems to me that drilling the mold would create an appendage or bump rather than a dimple...but I'm easily confused.
  19. look at Yamamoto senko laminates on tackle warehouse...fairly good photo of rainbow trout color
  20. what type of pouring are you doing? One-piece, two-piece, hand pour, injection? This will help get you a better answer. There are some excellent instructional videos on injecting laminates on Bear's Forum. The basic method in a one piece mold is to prepare two colors of plastic, pour the mold half full with one and then finish the pour with the other color. This is how I make laminated swimbaits.
  21. That's like me saying I'm only going to have a couple beers I haven't counted my molds...I'm guessing 150 or so...most are home made but I have some LC RTV. Most are POP. I don't own an aluminum...I'm a member of the old school.
  22. try washing the mold cavity with a little mild soap and water or just keep pouring and the baits will come out smooth after a while. I bought a swimbait mold from LC and the first pours had the dimples but then after 5 or 6 pours they went away so my guess it was something on the surface of the new RTV. I noticed the dimples in most of the new LC photos and wondered about that. Hope this helps.
