  1. Hi Folks, Been awhile since I posted anything..Been busy with the business. I need your help trying to figure out the Morning Dawn color.. I've tried several things and can't seem to nail it. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.. Thanks in advance.. Tom
  2. Try This out.. 4 oz Plastic 16 drops LC Pumpkin Seed 2 Drops LC Brown 1/4 tsp .035 black flake
  3. I just finished another run and tweaked the formula and the results were more than I hoped for. I did 14 drops of MF motor oil to 4 oz of 502 and an 1/8 tsp of .08 red flake and the baits came out great. Still have the multi color transitions and tone changes. You were right ghost, the red accented the color and gave it another dimension. Thanks for the tip. Think I might be on to something.. After my testing this Saturday I'll know for sure.
  4. Hi everyone, I received my order from MF and I did a test run of some 6" ST worms with the Motor Oil. A customer requested some motor oil worms with blue flake and I was amazed at the effect the blue flake had on the bait. The worm almost looks aqua marine but changes tones and transitions under different light. Not the typical motor oil color that I am used to. Has anyone else used this and did you experience the same thing? I used 10 drops in 2 oz of plastic. Any advice welcomed. Thanks in advance, Tom
  5. Sure Jeff..I'll give you a good deal on a customer.. Why are you posing with your bass pillow in your picture??
  6. LOL.. I'm a frickin idiot... Thanks for making it very clear to me Nova.. I didn't even look at the FX stuff when I was on their page.
  7. Hi Folks, I have a customer asking for some worms in the "Peoples Worm" color.. Looks like a cinnamon pearl blue vein to me,, Am I missing anything here? Thanks in advance for your help.. Tom
  8. Ted, I sent you an email this am..
  9. On my jig heads that is.. Have any of you figured out a way to fix the heads that have nipples? Out of the 50 football heads that I powder coated Saturday (Using fluid bed), 12 of them developed nipples in the oven during the cure. Hate to waste them. I cut them off with a pair of snips, but now I have an ugly flat spot. Any advice appreciated..
  10. Hi Chapples, It would be best to order the coloring from your supplier of choice. As Shane said, Crayons will work but the colors will be all over the place in terms of consistancy.. My recommendation is to get anywhere from 6-10 colors to start.. Black,Brown,Purple,Watermelon, natural/nightcrawler,Green Pumpkin, etc and practice with tints and shades to get the colors you want. Get some assortments of flake also.. (Black, red, blue, etc in the following sizes to start .015,.035) 1. Never use waterbased scents in your hot plastic. (Anything that you can buy in the store) The plastic will explode and you won't like it. 2. Pour in a well ventilated area and wear a respirator. 3. Pay attention to your plastic. A little heat vapor is okay, smoke is not. If you over heat your plastic it will effect your color and it will eventually scorch. Whenever you have a question or a concern, post it on TU and you will get the help you need..
  11. Hi Hoonin, Your molds look very nice! You are absolutely right about the folks here.. Even though many of us have our own businesses and are trying to make a buck, everyone has each others back and is supportive. When I first started this crazy addiction, I had many questions and there was always folks to point me in the right direction and assist. You just holler when you have any questions or are looking for feedback..
  12. The fish haven't said anything yet due to still trying to get the color pattern right. Plan on testing them out next Sunday. (As long as the spinner bait bite is not still wide open) Went out last Sunday to do some testing and got caught up in the spinner bait bite @ El Capitan. Caught 12 by 9:30 and the smallest was 3 lbs. Not a whole lot of testing happened. This color combination is a killer here in the west, I just want to make sure that it looks perfect. Perfect baits catch many fish and even more fisherman..Can I get an amen?
  13. Hi Folks.. I need your help on which color combo to release on my Reapers. There are 3 variations on possible patterns but I am having issues on picking one and forgetting the other 2. One picture was taken in the shop and the other was taken outside to give 2 different perspectives.. The color is Arizona Sunrise. (AKA Cinnamon/Purple with a few tweaks) A has the main cinnamon color running thru the channel on the tail B has entire tail purple C has the tail channel in Purple and the tail is cinnamon.. Please help! Let me know your thoughts and which color you like the best..
  14. I just got off the phone with the main buyer for the company and they are doing the right thing.. Guess I am not the first one to complain about the football heads weedguard issues.. They are aware of it and trying to correct the QC issues. They are crediting me for the previous order and they are personally checking the new order before it ships out today. They promised a phone call to me to let me know if everything is ok or not. If there are problems they will take care of it..
  15. Oh I do plan on giving them a call about it. The other order from them should be here on Tuesday. I wish that I would of opened up the packs sooner to discover this.. but I was so busy with my palstics that they sat for a couple of weeks before I was ready to get the jigs going. As soon as the next order gets here I am opening one immediatley and will be on the phone with them. I will even email them pictures if this next batch is FUBAR..

  17. Thanks to everyone for the PM's and advice. This whole thing just sucks.. Anyway, since a picture is worth a thousand words, here are 2 1/2 oz and 2 3/8 oz jig heads so you can see what I am dealing with..
  18. The price was 2.50 for five of them.. I figured that since they are such a big name in the jig head manufacturing business that buying pre made heads from them would be good. I don't have their molds nor do I really want to get involved with melting lead. (Especially here in California) I will call them tomorrow to discuss this and see what they will do for me. I just don't get how they put a one inch weed guard on 3/8 and 1/2 oz football heads with 4/0 hooks and think that looks right. Besides the size thing, they are bent and ragged looking..
  19. They are 1/4,3/8, and 1/2 oz weedless football heads with black nylon weedguards.. The hook size is 3/0 and 4/0. I am just really frustrated because I have orders to fill and inventory to get in place and now I am screwed because of this..
  20. I bought a good amount of the ready made raw jig heads from a well known company (Do I dare say their name) Anyway..The weed guards are all jacked up out of the package, they are too short for the jig heads, and I had 2 just fall off when I was putting the heat resistant tubing on..I do not know who handles the QC for their manufacturing plant in the Dominican, but I hope that my next order (that should be here this week) are a better quality.. Just a word of caution to anyone who purchases or is thinking about it.. Out of the 30 jig heads that I am getting ready to powder coat, I can only use maybe 6 of them due to the quality issues..
  21. Thanks Vodka!! The link was what I was looking for.. The foil trick worked like a charm.. I baked them for 20 mins at 225 and the weedguards are fine.. Appreciate the assistance!!
  22. Hi everyone.. TGIF!! I just finished powder coating some jig heads (First time doing it) and they turned out pretty darn good.. I bought these from DO-IT and they have the weedguards installed (That heat resistant tubing is a life saver) My question is will I be able to cure these in the toaster oven without damaging the weed guards? Thanks in advance for your input.. Tom
  23. Del I loved your example..1 nugget,3 fries,...LMAO Tyler, just be careful..There are vultures out there. I have only been in business for a couple of weeks and I already have folks wanting me to do 400+ piece orders on my trailers.. 50 of these,75 of those, 100 of these, and they ask me if I can do it and what the price would be.. When I lay it out and tell them the price on the order I never hear from them again. Some people want quality custom designs for next to nothing.. I had one person tell me that he can get 500 chunks for 50 dollars. I told him to go buy them!
