  1. I have tried the Alumi UV on a few baits. I ordered the small bottle and am using 2 48" black light bulbs to cure. The first bait I brushed it on and let it rotate in front of the black light, the bottle claims 20 to 30 minutes to cure but it took over 2 hours for it to harden. I was hoping for a gloss finish but it was pretty dull, not cloudy like solarez but no where close to a properly applied epoxy, mcu or auto clear. I went ahead and took the bait to the lake to test durability and I was pleased with that, a little hook rash and a couple tiny nicks were all that happened after fishing the bait for 4 hours non stop including intentionally throwing it on to the rocks numerous times.Like I said I was happy with the durability it held up as well as any clear I have tried and no clear can take direct hits to rip rap over and over without showing some wear.Took the bait home and dipped it one time in the Alumi UV and it had more gloss than before but still not what I am used to, the colors just don't jump as they normally do. I went ahead and tried another bait, this time I dipped the bait to see if that made any difference. Once again it took over 2 hours to cure and it had the dull finish like the first bait. I went ahead and dipped it a second time and for some reason it wouldn't adhere to a small section around the belly hanger and after curing it had a little more gloss but nothing close to what I want. So as far as durability I am pleased and even if it takes 2 to 3 hours to cure i am fine with that as it is faster than what I use now. But the dull finish is what kills it for me it's just unacceptable so I am going to watch and see if anyone else can figure it out before I fool with it anymore.

  3. I have used both the DN and the Target. In a real world test I did 3 dips with the target coating and let it cure for 5 days, took the lure to the lake and the clear lasted about 30 minutes before it started to peel. I normally do 2 or 3 dips with DN and let it cure for 5 days and fish the lures and can hardly tell they have been fished it is much much stronger than the target.
  4. Well as it turns out I just needed to thin it some. I should of noticed how slowly it ran off the first dipped bait. I've done a dozen more baits and they came out perfect.
  5. Thanks Dave, orange peel is what it is. I just went out this morning it's about 20degrees cooler and dipped a bait and it came out smooth as glass. Another DN lesson learned.
  6. Got home today and decided to dip a few baits that I had finished last night and the finish came out with a "dimpled" appearance for lack of a better term. It was very warm today and it was hot in the garage so that is the only thing I can think of that would have caused it. Has anyone else had this happen? The DN appears very fluid in the container.
  7. Auto Air Hi Lite interference blue or cosmic sparkle blue will give you that effect.
  8. i would suggest something like this Wel-Bilt Electric Portable Air Compressor 2.5 Gallon, 120 Volt | 1 CFM + below | Northern Tool + Equipment
  9. After the trans red I would shoot the stripes in opaque white, pearl white or pearl silver depending on the look you want. Then layer the trans green until its the shade you want. I dont think you'll ever get the look you want shooting the trans green over anything but a light color.
  10. Try backing off on your air pressure when you shoot transparents. I shoot the transparent orange between 10-12psi. I shoot one light layer then hit it with the heat gun and just build it up one layer at a time until its the way I want it.
