  1. Acetone evaporates extremely quickly and is an excellent metal cleaner. Clean them, set on a cloth and 5 minutes later heat w/ a torch.. Put away any liquid acetone before lighting the torch. I do all of this in an exhaust booth. I used vinegar for years- never again. Better paint job w/ less heat w/ the acetone prior cleaning. Edited to add- less heat equals no paint in the eye. I only apply pinpointed heat to the lead. A heat gun( which i have) takes too long and heats the eye of the jig resulting in a paint enclosed eye.Dip and swish /remove quickly from your fluid bed. Fluff mixed in the powder paint is the real deal for ease of application.
  2. Now @ the other end of spinner bait pricing- https://www.google.com/search?q=Lucky+craft+spinner+baits&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#q=Lucky+craft+spinnerbaits&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&tbm=shop
  3. Tips for powder painting- 1- clean your jigs in acetone 2- use a product called Fluff(available from Component Systems) mixed w/ your powder paint 3- I heat all jigs w/ a small butane torch- make sure liquid acetone is put away and sealed 4- i no longer bake jigs in a toaster oven 5-if you must, use an airbrush and shoot w/ two-part ,water base epoxy over the powder paint
  4. Reptile sand @ your local PETCO store has the whitest, finest and driest sand I've ever found
  5. I would not recommend that. Start w/ 50%salt and 50% sand and decrease the sand % to your desired effect. You'll need extra softener since salt and sand will stiffer up your baits.
  6. You are incorrect sir. I use it all the time ( and have been for years)in Presto Pots complete w/stirrers from Bear's. Some, not all will settle on the bottom but so will glitter. One's willingness to experiment can lead to better results. Prior to Presto Pots, I used it in Lee ,hand pour pots. You must stir before pouring- each and every time. I had customized tablespoons that I drilled multiple,1/4" holes in to allow for complete agitation to get the salt and sand off of the bottom of the small pots.I wore down the tips of the spoons ,1 inch, due to all of the stirring necessary and needed to replace them every 6-7 months. I also drilled out the bottom spouts( on my old Lee,hand pour pots to allow for the thicker salt, sand, glitter and plastisol mix to allow for faster pouring w/ minimal clogging.Keeping your mix close to 340 degrees helps too as hot plastisol( 370-390) thins the mix and will cause faster settling in the hand pour pots. I now look back and chuckle @ my 3 1/2 years using Lee hand pour pots.I still have 4 replacement inserts w/ spouts for the old Lee hand pour pots. The good old days of hand pouring plastics w/ RTV molds.
  7. I thought the same thing, especially the brush jig with a EWG style hook but it comes through cover really good, maybe try it first and then try to tweak it. Wire, whether a single strand, double strand or complete loop have always worked around rock but were terrible in brush and thick weeds That's because your wire is not of the correct diameter and on a sufficient angle away from the hook. All types of jigs must be finessed through submerged, horizontal brances. I've never found a fiber guard to excel in thick weeds- except green milfoil w/out scum on them
  8. That's easy to accomplish. I pour my jigs w/ the fiber guard in place.I do not glue in fiber guards . As soon as you remove it from the mold, bend the fiber guard forward, holding it close to the base for 10 seconds while the lead cools.Hold the jig hook w/ the thumb and index finger of your right hand and do the same w/ your left thumb and index finger to the fiber guard. You'll be amazed @ the results
  9. Absolutely. Tube tails have to be salted or they stick together like glue was impregnated in them I've used powdered salt which really makes them slide into packaging quite easily. THE CAVEAT- POWDERED SALT DULLS THE BAITS Now ,if they are used shortly after packaging, the powdered salt washes off and a bright finished reappears. I'm using Bear's Ultra fine salt sparingly for the best results w/ tubes. Other baits get a very small amount of powdered salt which is applied in a container then shaken w/ a close lid for equal distribution and effortless packaging. One needs to experiment since one size does not fit all!
  10. Presto Pots are an in-expensive start.Their thermostats vary and temps.must be monitored w/ an IR gun.Shortened width, paddle wheels for the stirrers may still work w/ your system.Someone just has to try modified paddle wheels .Presto pots are certainly not the ultimate deal but are in-expensive and get the job done. New ideas are being developed as i type. I think your dual injector w/ the P..P. application is a neat, Innovative invention. Ideas like yours are always welcome and lead to better performing products in the future.
  11. Thanks for the clarification- it resembles Bass Tackle's dual injector..The moment you said blending block,I assumed again it was B.T. My bad and i apologize for that mistake. Speaking from experience.I personally don't care for blending blocks since it's another path for the plastisol to travel before entering the molds and does have to be opened and cleaned .It works well for you in the video. I also prefer mechanical stirrers inside the P.P. to keep the plastic from changing colors and possibly scorching.
  12. It sounds like you already have a two-color injection system.i guess you have $300.00 invested (including the griddle)and wish to spend another +/- $200.00 for a H.R. System. That said, you still will not have stirrers in your presto pots w/ the H.R. System. To each his own. That's almost the same as buying +/-80 bags of Yamamoto Laminated Stick worms. Now if you're intending to sell baits that a different story in itself. Good luck w/ whatever system you choose.
  13. Yes- if you want to save frustration and wasting your money. You can purchase bass tackle's two color injector and blending block if you wish but you'll need a method to keep your plastic and block warm
  14. There is no blending block w/ the Shooting Star System. The injector sits in a controllable, heated block. You draw your two-colors ,then remove the dual injector fro,m the heated block and place it in the mold opening. Type and configuration of the mold(s0)determine which way you turn the dual injector to obtain two color injecting.
  15. The Shooting star System from Bear's will give you consistent laminates. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5Xa03QAhnY Laminating plates and/or blending blocks have their own special caveats. If you can't afford the system ,then save the frustration and cost of trying to produce your own laminates with the aforementioned alternatives and buy laminated worms in the package.
  16. That can turn into a colonoscopy w/ a stop sign!
  17. Time for the tackle shop to get Swamp'd!! Let's see- there's the mafia- the Amish mafia- i wonder if there's a ...?
  18. Pull your injector handle all the way open, spray some PAM cooking oil spray-lightly inside the tube.Push the plunger down all the way- exposing the "O" ring outside the end of the injector(where the nossle fits). Wipe of all of the old plastic around the "O" ring. Enjoy your new, smooth operating injector.repeat as necessary. Occasionally it's necessary to remove the Phillips head screw located @ the end of the injector to remove the small pieces of plastic that collect there.Replace the "O" ring if too much plastic is bypassing it. This usually does not happen w/ the heated ,dual injector on the Shooting Star System simply because the injector is always heated and there is no blending block. I do take the dual injector apart once a month to clean it thoroughly for optimum performance.
  19. Question-can you use the High Rock dual injectionsystem w/ stirrors inside the presto pots? The heated injector alleviates many problems associated w/two-color injecting if you require consistent production.
  20. Lure Parts Online. If you guys need good silicone skirts at wholesale prices, you need to give Rat Trap Bait Company a call. Rat Trap Bait Company Bubba Robinson PO Box 845 106 Adams Street Auburndale FL 33823 Ph. 863-967-2148 Just give Bubba a call and ask him to email you his product and color list. A class act and super nice and helpful. No website though. Bubba is 1st class . I've been dealing w/ him for 25 years.
  21. You purchase a Shooting star Systen from Bear. Use non-bleed watermelon and chartreuse and your prayers will be answered. Remeber, both pots of plastisol must be the same temperaure and the viscosity the same. You'll need an IR gun to accurately read the temps in the Preso Pots. You can pour two color sticks w/ Lee hand pour pots but that is one tricky accomplishment w/ satifactory consistency. I beleive High Rock has a system( sold by baitjunky's.com) but i have no experience so i cannot comment on it. edited for additional content.
