Why even loose 2 seconds of sleep over the Zoom super chunk patent? There are soooooo many good injectable CNC crawfish imitations that work much better then a Zoom chunk. Try something new and be pleasantly surprised.

Both vinyl lure & jig paint or water base paint fron Component Systems will work. Be careful not to thin the water base paint too much
-
Sewing machine oil works fine

The end of three different diameter paint brushes will do the trick. EYes have an imprtance but why jump through hoops to create painted, oval eyes. The fish don't differenciate whether they're round or oval.Spinners baits are reaction strike baits. Weight/size,blade configurations, body color and skirt selections make the difference

Spike It Lure Dyes - Work On Dark Plastic?

Going from black to a light color will usually requires using a white base coat 1st. The lure paint will give you better results. -
Brush some Sally Hanson's "Hard as Nails" over the eyes.Short, sweet and simple w/ no mixing required.

I experienced the opposite- the 4 bladed plastic blade w/ the clicker . Different strokes for different folks-I prefer the advantage of the slower, surface retrieve w/ the 4 bladed buzzbait. They just come up and suck it in w/the ultra-slow surface retrieve- no trailer hook required.
-
Why all of the tears?? A 4 blade plastic buzz-bait allows for a slower retreive and fewer missed strikes.

It makes sense- I have delt w/ Component Sysyems for years which is owned by Do-it. They wre looking into developing their own plastisol 2 years ago by selfed it. Now they have the best of both worlds w/ their own plastisol brand. I wonder if the price will come down for commercial manufacturers and offer 55 gallon drums

I agree w/ the WTP eye adhesive- I still have eyes from others that require additional glue-what a P.I.A.
-
I use the tip of an exacto knife- just getting the tip under the center of the eye and lifting it up I place the eye, centered in the indentatuion of the eye socket and press dwon w/ w/ thump, sliding the knife out. I use C.S. water base epoxy on plugs and spinner baits and Sally Hanson's hard as nails for non-epoxy applications. I have used a very small dot of gel cynoacrylate but this operation is tricky and can be sticky or you end up w/ eyes stuck to your fingers.

Possibly the colors are bleeding into each other and/or there was too much colorant in each mix.

gonfishin- 90 degree hooks will work also -BUT the soft-bait must float the hook . You can take the same stand-up design and use he same hook- 1 heavy wire, 1 light wire and the exact same (identical) soft -bait. The light wire hook will work and the heavy wire will not. Thay said, move up one size w/ a light wire hooks and the stand up head may not work and lay on it's side w/ the same soft bait. A great deal of trial and error is required to complete the marriage between a stand-up jig head and a floating soft-bait.Again,soft-baits will not float w/ salt in them and all plastisol do not float the same.. Metal flake glitter will add weight to a soft-bait also. Shawn Collins made my 1st custom ,CNC stand-up football jig 5 years ago w/ dual wire guard capabilities Edited for spelling

Let's agree to disagree. No question Cadman helps folks here but he also sells jigs.Motive within a motive?? I just object to those who make blanket posts about a subject they know little about but pretend to know all. i sell nothing here on Tackle UnderGround nor care to do so- but I will back up my claims concerning stand-up jigs- that is the only reason i suggest looking @ videos on my site to substansiate credibility. Stock molds have their limitations so admit it and stand corrected. It's pointless to contiue this- I wish you and your family a joyous and healthy holiday season.

Gentlemen, Believe what you what. My custom designs have been toroughly tested and PROVEN! in the Susquehanna & Juniata rivers. Bass consistently come in w/ the hook centered in the roof of the mouth which proves my point. It's rather obvious you've never tested any of mine but that's ok. I could go into much more intimate detail concerning head design, hook sizes , rock guards and weights but will choose to bow out gracefully and not educate those adamant in their inaccurate convictions. BTW- I make specific jig recomendations for the custom soft-baits that are compatable for my custom stand-up jigs. jigs. Small jaw- your statement that stand-up jigs don't work in a lake or river bottom w/sediment and rocks is so incorrect it's laughable. Cadman- I've read many of your post here @ T.U. and always respected your knowledge. That said ,when you make statements like this- "So, I don't buy all the stand-up jig hype. JMPO. It's funny but I sell a lot of (supposedly) stand-up jigs. Why do I do this since I don't believe it? Well because it's like everything else in life, if someone has to have, I provide a service. I also tell all these people that buy my stand-up jigs, that in reality they really don't work as well or at all and I try to sway them away from them. But marketing and sponsored Mr. Superfisherman says they work so I guess it has to be." You're dislaying you lack of complete knowledge concerning CUSTOM stand-up jigs used w/specific, custom floating baits. I'm really surprise that you would even make the afoementioned statement. I'll stay out of your future jig discussions and let you continue your reign as the jig expert here on T.U. using stock Do-it molds.

With all due respect, I had 4 different custom,stand-up football -CNC lead molds made. They positively do not defeat the purpose of a football jig. Different weights and hooks will float specific baits- that 's why one size doesn't fit all. Custom molds are worth it ,providing you have the testing behind the design you desire.and are willing to pay for them.I personally prefer heads that raise the bait 45 degrees above the bottom. I am not going to post the video links to my website but they are availible for those willing to search for them. Conjecture and dock talk is a pure waste of time. Take a couple of your football jigs and grind them flat on the bottom w/ various angles- then test them w/ different hooks, sizes and floating plastic baits. Custom molds just don't fall from the sky - they are created by those willing to spend time, $ and frustration to really find out what works . Put 1 foot of water in your bathtub w/some types of various structure to start your testing.,then graduate to an aquarium that has natural, slated river rocks w/ mixed bottom substrate.Walk your creations up the side of a rock and stop the jig- let it fall down the side and watch exactly what happens.

I've never had experience w/ the Snoottie jig but the type and size of plastic may make a difference. One nevers knows until thorough underwater tests are observed.Dual rattles on a collarded rattle band will make a bullet jig stand up Many times (w./the same design of a stand-up jig) the use of a heavier jig will cause the bait to stand up. It's all trial and error.Different brands of plastisols may end up floating an un-salted bait higher then others.
-
Thank you Cadman. It seems many on T.U. are more concerned about the fancy paint jobs/3d eyes etc-before these well meaning individuals even know how their custom bait will perform in the water. Jigs don't need two and even three color paint schemes w/ 3D eyes to catch bass. Varied ,colorful silicone layers rigged sparsely w/ a nice appropriate and complimentary, scented plastic craw trailer is all that is necessary .Attracting the bass is one thing, hooking them is another. It's amazing just how the same realistic crawfish jig trailer (w/out salt) will change the balance of a jig when trimmed to various lengths. A small drop of gel, cynoacrylic glue will keep a jig trailer in position so central balance is maintained.Place this just after the bend of the hook before you side your plastic trailer in place.
-
Salted plastics don't float -plain and simple. Adding floating bubbles product is not the answer. I've spent coutless hours in years past and 3 hours in an indoor pool the past two Monday evening attempting to shoot successful videos of the new swim-baits I manufacture along w/ other soft-baits that don't work well in an aquarium setting. I make specific hook and jig head recommendations on my website based on test results and the report card the bass give me. I'm very specific about central balance of a swimming worm, wacky worm, jigs and swim-baits.The baits must sink and perform w/ the hook in an upright position.95% of the bass we catch have the hook centered in the roof of their mouths. We were testing a new product on various jig heads and again,my eyes were opened to which custom jig heads work best. One jig head weight was too light where as the same design w/ a heavier stand-up head did the trick w/ a floating bait The trailers used on a standard fiber weed guard, bullet head bass jig can greatly affect central balance-some will cause the jig to lay on its side. Water testing ,whether it be in a clear water-above ground pool,in ground pool, the bathtub or a simple bucket for jigs-before fishing them is paramount to your success and consistent hooking ability of your product .
-
The design type of the jig head and weight may also make a difference in stand-up capabilities. Dropping your completed jig/worm combo into 12" or more of water in a bucket or the bathtube will give you the real deal.I've been surprised more then once using this technique
-
Just make sure your shakey head worm will float a heavier hook. Shakey head worms that lie flat on the bottom are worthless I.M.O.
-
Lead free solder will absolutely harden your lead. Will you kindly post a pic of the shakey head you're using along w/ the specific hook you're molding inside the jig?
-
That's fine!
