  1. If you want to deduct your expenses and declare this a business, you've got to pay your taxes-plain and simple. That's why many wholesalers require I.R.S. form #637 and a state sales tax license number to get the real wholesale prices on components.
  2. Your eyes will start bothering you from the fumes and smoke. Frostbite- it's currently 15 degrees @ 6am here in Eastern Pa.
  3. As a manufacturer, you are required to pay a 10% excise tax every quarterly (form #720) on,gross sales.-retail or wholesale. The government isn't stupid for sure. they give you the 10% excise tax exemption on components (form #637) but collect the 10% on gross sales. Like I stated before, paying this 10% hurts deeply but it's cheaper then an audit and then penalties and interest levied by the I.R.S. Sooner or later, the boom drops on those who continue flying under the radar screen and ignore paying this tax.
  4. These will do the job @ a reasonable price http://www.airfilterusa.com/3m-half-face-respirator-assembly-model-r-6211-size-medium.html?sel=1
  5. Forget the anchor/hand pour cup and get a Presto Pot w/ stirrer from Bears. While you're on the phone w/ him, order his ultra-fine salt. Stick worms are the absolute easiest to pour w/ this set-up and the ultra-fine salt..
  6. I'm assuming this is an injection mold. if so ,you may be pushing to fast for the air to escape OR-your injector capacity is too small and you're running out of plastic before the mold fills completely. just guessing-hope this helps you.
  7. Manufacturers of sport fishing tackle that sell their product are required by law to file quarterly form #720 and pay a 10% tax on gross sales. You 1st apply to the I.R.S. for form #637( excise tax exemption form) which in turn you provide to your suppliers that saves you from paying the 10 % excise tax on your components. Many fly under the radar screen on this tax UNTILthe I.R.S. does an internet check of fishing tackle and lure manufacturers advertising their products and quickly checks to see if they have been filling their quarterly Form #720. Personally ,paying this 10% tax every quarter is a nice chunk of change but makes me sleep well @ night. I do not want an unexpected visit or notice from the I.R.S. Accountant fees for audits and possible penalties and interest from the I.R.S. can be financially crippling to the small manufacture.
  8. Credit card fees are the price of doing business - include the 4% in your shipping charges. The killer is the quarterly form #720 - 10% of gross sales to the I.R.S. for manufacturers.
  9. MEND-IT SOFT BAIT GLUE Dries soft and natural. Mend-It actually melts and bonds the soft plastic material together restoring otherwise useless baits. Mend-It glue repairs all soft baits. Worms, trailers, lizards, swimbaits & more! Be aware, this is NOT a "super glue" that can bond your fingers together and it is NOT for attaching soft plastics to other materials such as jig trailers to jig heads. This is strictly for bonding soft plastic to itself. One bottle will quickly pay for itself in restored baits. You can even combine parts of different baits to create new unique creatures! Simply apply along the tear with the bait in a closed position-apply pressure for 10 seconds and let the bait sit for 3-5 minutes. If all of the Mend-it goes into the tear area, make a final application and let sit for an additional 3 minutes. The bait will have the internal/external strength of “BRAND-NEW”!
  10. Your pushing too hard on the injector-single cavity stick worms hold a small amount of plastic vs. A 4-5 cavity injection mold made specifically for injection.
  11. You can also create some exciting,3 color injected grubs and worms using the aforementioned method. A very strong and tear resistant grub/worm head w/out affecting the tail action will be an added bonus
  12. TRI colored, injected tubes are an easy reality using Bear's injected tube mold and his blending block 1- Inject the tube as a two color laminate 2- Dip the head of the tube in a different color and you'll now have a tri-colored,laminated tube. Simple, easy and very effective

  14. What are you looking to get w/ shipping. I can find a happy ,busy home for it Al
  15. Hot plastisol(325 degrees+) will eat a hole in that meat injector in less then 5 minutes. I just tried a new micro wave safe-plastic measuring cup and a hole was eaten through the bottom in less then 2 minutes after heating the plastisol to 325+. Purchase the real deal as others have advised.
  16. Jim, Just ask yourself why the business models of Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's are so successful. They don't pour their own baits- Again- Precision,Proficiency&Durability PP&D = CNC Aluminum Injection Molds Granted ,the California boys w/ their x-laminated swim baits have it down to a science and are well established. That's their niche-not mine for sure.If I wanted to sell them and make money,I'd buy them wholesale and sell them retail for a 20+% mark-up. I'd waste more time and money trying to emulate them for sure. It's always exciting disagreeing w/you- Happy New Year! Al Hopefully,I'll be introducing an injected swim -bait for river smallmouth bass in a couple of months. They'll have a max of 2 colors and the single colors will sell just as well. You see, smallmouth seek faster moving water during summer time and the bait color only has to be close w/ size and action most important.
  17. I did that years ago. A good CNC machinist can take your custom ideas and put them into reality from a basic design.
  18. Jim , If I want Aaron's magic I'll call Robo Worm or his distributor and buy them wholesale-or a retail outlet and purchase them-plain and simple.Trying to duplicate fancy tri-colors for profit or what ever is a waste of time I.M.O.- unless you're one of the big boys set-up w/ custom injection machines costing 6 figures. You act like Aaron's magic is the end all, cure all bait - Please!Let's not take this any further BTW- you'll sell more one color baits and make a better profit vs. two and three color baits. Like we exchanged in our prior views on this subject before-drop your POP mold on the floor and it's game over. More down time making new ones- time is money my friend and I speak from 30 years in the contracting business w/ 5-10 employees. BTW- one of my customers in Ca. is personal friends w/ the owner of Robo Worm and gets many of them for free! He asked if I wanted some Aaron's magic and I politely said no thank you . They may work some of the time but I've learned through experience that watermelon and green pumpkin outsells all other colors nation wide. Long term-you can't beat CNC for precision, proficiency and durability. Edited for spelling
  19. Why even spend the $ and time for less then perfect molds when precision,CNC injection molds are available and affordable? They save money in the long run for sure. I've personally made 60 + custom RTV molds over the years and would not do it again for all the tea in China! You just can't get the consistency and ease of a CNC injection mold .I've sold 90% of my old RTV molds for a fraction of what they cost to make. It was fun but cost mucho $. Trimming the flashes and over pours of finished hand-pours is not my idea of entertainment.
  20. Bear's has the finest salt I've ever used - even finer then Popcorn salt.
  21. Lee pots- 1- Have unreliable thermostats 2- Must be manually stirred w/ inconsistent results 3- Can produce a dripping problem when shut off I have not used my Lee pots since I bought my presto pots from Bear 1 year ago. One man's poison is another man's passion!
