  1. This is old, and was a communication mistake, we both apologized. There is no need to bring it back up.
  2. Benton B, I do understand where you're coming from, but.... I think that by asking he could be pointed in the right direction, thus not having quite as much trial and error as you suggested. Just my opinion. Now to give some ideas; loco, theres a post up right now that talks about attaching curly tails to lures, I think this might be done in the same way. I have never made one of these so this is just from what I have gained in information from this site. I would try getting some SS (stainless steel) wire and epoxying it into the lure, The applying super glue to both the tail and the the wire and inserting the wire into the tail. Another option is to make a cork-screw type thing with the SS and epoxying it into the lure then just twisting on the tail. You can learn a lot from this site by using the search tool. Try searching for tails, curly tails, plastic tails, etc. As for making the plastic tail, I have no experience at pouring plastic, but there are a few tutorials about making your own plastic molds. I will include one of those those below. Here are a couple links to get you started, Attaching Curly Tails- http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7755&highlight=curly+tail Making A Mold- http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10677

    New Pike Fly...

I'm sure it'll catch a lot more then pike but It's made after a pike fly design. so as to not confuse myself I just called it a pike fly, I haven't posted up the new ones et, I will tomorrow or the next day.
  4. The treble is a little messy and the excessive bulk on it is unneeded, but otherwise nice job. I can't tell how you tied the material on the treble on, but this is how you could clean it up. Get some glow in the dark flashabou or some other glowing material. Use thread to wrap around the hook like you're tying a fly or jig, try to keep the layer of thread to one wrap around the hook shank. This will clean up your treble and make the hook-up rate of it much better. Here's a link to a tutorial for tying stuff onto trebles; http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:cKo3AEJhDGgJ:www.wmi.org/sql_messages_html/onfly_file/doc.asp%3Fnum%3D24102%26ini%3Dd:%255Casp_ini%255Cfishing_tactics_3way.ini%26no_nav+doodads+crankbait&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl=us
  5. I love Daiichi hooks for tying big flies.
  6. No problem, I'm not sure if it's good or not just wjat I found, I kinda glanced at it and it looked like a texas rig but I don't know I didn't read it... so let me know if that works.
  7. I kinda at this. It amused me. Hehe, if the duckling got eaten it would have happened anyways probably. If a big fish was near it and ate it when it went down, it would have eaten it when it was still on top at the right moment. I sure you didn't change the course of nature. You just saved the fish some energy.
  8. There's gotta be a maximum somewhere Dave. Hehehe, but I do understand what you're saying.
  9. Haha, I've never actually caught a bird. I should probably be thankful. I have caught rocks before though.... probably should kept that to myself...
  10. Here ya go, did a search on "fluke lure" on google and the first or second one was this. Seems like a texas rig... but I didn't read it. http://www.activeangler.com/articles/freshwater/articles/bass/rick_lapoint/fishing_fluke.asp Haha, you could always make a... "fluke lure" hehe.
  11. Interesting...very interesting... hehe, nice bait, good job, I like it.
  12. It's melting fast here.... we're supposed to get some tonight but it'll probably melt by tomorrow.
  13. Fish eat small birds and mammals all the time. Here check these out. Bass eats a chipmunk - Another chipmunk - Use the "related videos" on the side to look at more videos of people feeding bass that they keep in tanks as pets.
  14. Just my non-plastic-bait-pouring-opinion. I think the Zoom plastic is more clear if I'm not mistaken so.... I have no idea what I'm talking about but... I think the starting plastic is clear so maybe just don't use as much color as to leave it more clear??? I don't know. I'm a noob at plastics.....
  15. To go back to the main topic of this thread for a second... The way I always understood it was the longer the lure is allowed to stay in the water the deeper it will run; of course until it tops out at it's maximum depth. So if a lure is cast 100' and you retrieve it -depending on how fast you retrieve it- it could be in the water anywhere from... oh, say 20 seconds to 60 seconds (just threw out some numbers).... But if you're trolling a lure it can stay in the water for as long as you troll for, thus letting it reach it's maximum depth. Also, because the lure isn't being retrieved back to the rod it can stay at it's maximum depth. That's just how I always understood it.... Sound about right?
