  1. Like the irridescent over irredescent paint scheme. Nice foil as well. Top notch bait!!! Do you recess your 3D eyes or are you sticking over a flat spot that is already part of your contour. I've been recessing the pasts few and find that this is a vulnerable spot for bubble rash when doing the epoxy finish. Any tips would be appreciated.
  2. Yake Bait

    Green Fury

Lates in a series of 8" twitchies. This one is more of a variation from the others with a steeper angle on the lip and a little less weight in the belly. The desired outcome is a wide wobble on the twitch and weight forward design allows it to back out of mischief when weeds are encountered. The "pool test" looks good. Hopefully can field test it this evening. Recipe is as follows: 8" Upper Michigan cedar plug, 3/4" thick 5/8 oz lead just behind the front hook. 1/8" lexan lip, 1 3/4" long by 1 3/8" wide. Green Fury paint job (createx flur yellow base, irridescent green, black) 3/0 Mustad hooks Paint job makes me think about the Incredible Hulk... You wouldn't like me when I'm angry...
  3. Can it be used as a jerk bait? Looks good!

    redcod

    Sweet paintjob and profile.
  5. Very nice. Extremely fine detail in comparison to the penny.
  6. Yake Bait

    Quit Clowning Around

Made this with buddy Chris Adams. The profile is based on phantom lure glide design. Chris did all the routing and sanding and did a very nice job with his first bait. The paint scheme is loosely based on the neon perch pattern for Dunwright baits.

    Mister Walleye

8" cedar plug. 5/8 oz of lead behind the front hook. Walleye paint scheme. This one is based on my previously posted Mr. Impatient design minus the bubble rash!!!

    excalibur!

Awesome finish. Your top coat looks like glass!

    Heaven and hell

This one has a little different twist to the paint job. I dig it!
  10. I'm sure that it would work, just never tried one before.
  11. I used regular foil with a spray adhesive as suggested and it turned out fine. I was able to cover the entire bait with it no problem and no issues with teh foil sticking to the bait. http://www.tackleunderground.com/photos/index.php?n=674
  12. I wanted a very bouyant twitch bait for working through shallow weeds so I whipped this together this afternoon very quickly. My epoxy was gelled pretty good so I thought it would be a great idea to cure it fast so I can use it this afternoon. My brilliant idea of turning the oven on warm with the door open to quickly harden the epoxy worked brilliantly except for the bubble rash that appeared all over the bait The bait works great, just looks rough. Will make remake a new one after doing some field testing this afternoon! To accomodate the large eyes I used my 1/2" forstner bit to countersink the eyes flush into the bait. Turned out slick until I bubbled it up! Specs are as follows: 8" cedar plug, 3/4" thick 3/4 oz lead just behind the front hook. 1/8" lexan lip, 2 1/9" long by 1 1/8" wide. Canadian Crush paint job 3/0 Mustad hooks

    Doc Repaint

Had a Mania Doc that I didn't care for the paint on so I gave it a Canadian Crush facelift with neon red eyes!!!

Like the colors. Are you mixing the goldenblack or is this a stock color?

    Pregnant Flatshad

Very nice! I also like the thin stripes.
  16. Wow, that thing is hairy scary! Looks great.
  17. I read something on some alternate nozzles that can be used in place of the normal fan pattern for rattle cans.
  18. That looks like a smallmouth magnet. Very nice lure!
  19. Next bait will have a different template and color scheme to match crappies in a local body of water. Caught a few of these this weekend. I think that I can get close to these colors with the silver foil, some Createx irridescent green, and opaque black. Will probably mix a combination of irridescent green and black for the back and spots. I'm thinking about trying Tigger's sanded technique if I can muster the courage to sand on top of my foil
  20. Thanks for the tips guys, I'll have to try those out. This is the first deep bellied panfish type bait that I have built and it had a tight swing side to side and also wobbled almost like a crank bait on the straight retrieve. I really liked the way that it moved. Not sure if this is typical of this style bait or if it had something to do with the weight placement, tow eye placement, or shape. I plan on making a second one soon with just a little less lead since I had quite a bit of epoxy on the last coat which increased the sink rate slightly beyond what I was shooting for. Pete
  21. Nice batch of baits StoanCoal. I like the tail design on this one.
