  1. Related links Commission Plans to Make Improvements at Utah Lake Video UTAH COUNTY, Utah - A public hearing was held Thursday regarding the Utah Lake Commission's plan to make the lake more accessible to fishers, boaters and others who use the lake for recreation. Other plans include restoring Utah Lake's beaches and adding hiking and bicycle trails along the shoreline. Most importantly, the plan allows for the removal of 5 million pounds of carp from Utah Lake every year for the next seven years. The carp removal is estimated to cost $1.5 million/year. Details on the costs for the other improvements are expected Thursday. Some in attendance at the hearing expressed concerns about investing too much money into Utah Lake. "We have to realize that Utah Lake is not Lake Tahoe. It can only be so much; it can't be everything. So, we have to work within the parameters that nature has given us," said Dick Buehler of the Division of Forestry Fire. FOX 13's Nineveh Dinha has more. Copyright
  2. Here a carp is a non game species(trash fish). You can snag them. I have tied two size 6 or 8 treble hooks on one continues line then at the bottom I Tie a weight. Like a drop shot rig with two trebles up the line. Above that use a bubble. The setup is two cast past the fish then real past them the hooks are weighted to sink and rap around the fish. That is fun helping out the heath of the lake. Throwing spears and bow hunting them is also a blast. Bow hunting them here is actually encouraged.
  3. http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/wire-baits/13893-best-lead-melt-flux.html Here it is!
  4. like you were thinking. I would just use the cannon ball mold and cut it with the dremel like rhahn said. Do-it Molds: Cannon Ball Sinker Mold You only need to add one eye. Keep in mind you can cut aluminum with a razor blade and a lot of other things. Go slow and think before you act. stick the eye in the spot you want it and tap on the mold with a hammer it will dent it where you need to cut it.
  5. Do-it Molds: Ear Ball Lure Just use the ear ball mold if don't already have the mold. For modifying the mold its not hard a little at a time is key.
  6. Just to make shore you have fluxed the lead? This should be before you scrape gunk off the top of the lead. There is a good sticky on it if you haven't already seen it. There might be gunk blocking the flow of lead. Fluxing often has made my lead pouring problems nonexistent. But I two, use mostly pure lead.
  7. Cadman note for your next post showing the wire you need to use a plain unpainted lead head. I keep looking at the paint job and not the wire! Good job on that one. One more idea you might consider just twisting the wire loop of the bottom blade. Help with the flexing or do you think it makes more vibration? On the color did you use a transparent color over another? Like a yellow with transparent brown over it. I think that is a beautiful paint job.
  8. Just to clarify did you bend it up the post (like a buzz bait) or just sharpen the angle of the bend? The idea of it getting enough angle to spin and make it around the wire is not what I have done in the past. Did the wire and blades get in the way of the hook? Basseducer Are the blades on yours big enough to level out the top wire? Generally a willow leaf blade will not have that much Resistance. Like on a pendulum the lead head with a skirt would have more Resistance than the willow leaf blades. Making the blades track on a sharper angle than the skirt. I might be learning how to make the different! I always thought it was for two flash speeds top fast bottom slow flash. This is a new idea to me so please teach me.
  9. Cadman that is a lot clear than I put it. Like the idea about the swivel on the bottom willow leaf blade. I Haven't made one that way. Vodka The lower blade dos not spin just to add to Cadmans post.
  10. I see you are from earth. The bottom blade is preforming as it should. The blade will not swing all the way around the wire. If that is what you are trying to do you might want to bend the wire over the top like a buzz bait. I say leave it as it is.
  11. Is it going to be hot when you fish? In my mind a good wader is the most versatile wader. I think a breathable wader with boots on it are the best rout. I have had a lot of neoprenes and they get so hot you just as well be in the water instead of swimming in your sweat. The stocking foot are nice when you are jumping from Boulder to boulder but the boots get to be a pain to put on or tie unless you get the wet. The stocking also where out faster and leak sooner. A breathable wader you can layer pants to keep warm. Good luck.
  12. At the point of banning every thing why not Ban the fish in all waters. Sound about as dumb. I have seen the people you speak of here in Utah Delw. The kind that will get so up set they throw there pole and kick there fishing box across the boat. I hate stupid people! Why fish at all at that point.
  13. I second that and Pete you would make a good speaker or typer i guess.
  14. If you are referring to the hollow coiled lead I ran in to some at cabalas the other day. It was the stuff you cut off a length then thread it on your line. If you cant find it just drill a hole in the middle of two peaces of wood or metal if you want it to last longer. Pour down the middle of the two. Easier than looking good luck.

    Wire Formers

If cost is a factor you might want to get the little blue bender and a pair of round nose pliers. I have a Addiction and have the Hagen's and the boggs and the little blue and still use my pliers at times. To warn you the boggs is a pain when you twist the final loop. The spinner has to travel around that little space. Wish you luck on your decision.

I like the way The other ladle pours out of the bottom of the pot. Easy to pour clean, even with dirty lead melted in it.
  17. :eek:I like the girls:eek:
  18. Delw, I see your point not knowing if its true. I guess the hider will be the one missing out and I know to steer clear of the people trying to hide something. It helps me like a billboard guess its better that tricking use in to thinking there some one else.
  19. An idea on the slow sinking jig head is off one of my mistakes. I took the clay that you bake to make hard. Cant remember the name of the clay. Thinking it would make a floating head I squished it in to a mold with a hook in it. Baked it then at the end of the timer I removed it dipping it in powder paint. I did get the temp spiked just before painting and did not burn any. Makes a good looking head thinking that the baked clay would loose the moister and float. But I was wrong. It sank slowly to the bottom. But the good thing that came from that is big head and sank slow plus I can powder paint it. Not being lead it seamed to hold the paint well to. still had some weight to cast.
  20. I like the fact that people post a true location. Just makes sense to me. That one fact will help when advice comes up. As for trusting no one on the net, that is what my reputation and life is built on. That is what gets me a lot farther in life. If there was no trust I would not be a member of this site. I think you can post your home or were you visit from easy enough. I think your hiding if you cant post a location or posting bs.
  21. I have the hp-ch high line and love it. Cant say any thing about about the one you have ps900. Do not have that one. To compare the two I cant help. But the Iwata hp-ch it a work of art the control it incredible. Wish you luck on your choice but well worth it to me.
  22. Thank you for your post. This will help me with some pens I have built and not liked the results. I built mine with 1/2 in. gray PVC pipe. A AA battery slides right in. The JB Weld slipped my mind at the time and used wood for the front of the pen. The pen I am making is similar to the one we use to cut and weld soft plastics. I like the tips also (for the heating tip). I appreciate the help!
  23. I grew up on an egg farm. Removing the yoke and egg white will be your best bet. As vodka mentioned hole in the top and bottom and blow. We had a carver that would buy the double yokes from us for carving and air brushing( The double yokes were a lot bigger). When he was painting them he would cut two holes with a high speed drill in the bottom(dental drill). Use a coffee straw with some kind of caulking dyed about 1/4 in. up (to seal the hole) so he could blow out the contents. One more trick is to get a wire put it on a drill and scramble the egg before trying to blow it out. Cant Waite to see the end result cadman.
  24. This sounds very interesting. My big question is about the smell? Is it like vinyl or lacquer? More headaches or is it like water with little or no smell? I will be following this thread as well.
  25. One more idem that would fit in our bulk buying program. Could you see about this redg8r? Could you buy it cheap enough?
