  1. "The mind works in mysterious ways", when it works.
  2. That sounds like it will work. I think that is what Chainz uses.
  3. If you're going to spray solvent-based paint, be sure you get an explosion-proof motor.
  4. 300 watts? Man, that has to be bright! Fortunately, my 36 watt nail light and three minutes is plenty fast for me. And I wear polarized sun glasses when I'm working with it. I had a pterigium removed from one eye years ago, and have one on the other eye I don't want to get any bigger, so I wear polarized glasses whenever I go out into the sun.
  5. Fish on, You said,"so kids,if you want to be a machinist stay in school learn your math don't run with scissors and drink milk." You forgot, "and brush often with Crest, which has been shown to be an effective decay preventive dentifrice, when used in a conscientiously applied program of oral hygiene, and regular professional care". Hahaha
  6. How do you cure a topcoat in 4 seconds? Is it some kind of a radio wave cure?
  7. Dave, you're the best! Just as long as they don't keep kosher, I'm okay. Since I only pour for myself, I'll try it in a small batch, and let you know how it works. I'll keep the in the cold boat for now (33 lows and 55 highs right now in my unheated garage) and, if they work, I'll keep them in the frig in the warmer weather. "Good thinking, I mean fish like coffee they must like bacon". And I'll have both scents in my baits. Worst case scenario is I won't get bit, and will be really hungry and have to come in early!
  8. Concrete reaches it's designed strength in one to three days, depending on the mix specs. Specialty mixes can reach it much more quickly, but it makes placement of large amounts of concrete impractical at that curing rate. However, it doesn't cure out completely for 100 years+-, at which time it begins to decompose. That's probably why it's not a very good material for lure making.
  9. Steve Merlo, THE hand pouring genius out west here, shakes popcorn salt over the top of his baits after he pours the, but while they're still hot, and says it soaks in enough to create a salty "cloud" around the bait for 20+- minutes. Fish eat his baits, and don't spit them out. Robo has a similar automated system for dusting their worms with salt, and fish eat Robo worms. Gary Yamamoto said he helped Gene Larew make a lot of money by having to pay for using Gene's salt inclusion idea. In all my years of fishing, the only baits that fish hold longer than Senkos and Ikas are live baits. So I add salt to my soft plastics, in varying amounts. A little goes a long way for flavor. I am going to add some bacon fat to a small batch of plastics. Even if they don't get bit, I can still enjoy coffee and bacon on the boat, since I use coffee for a scent, too. Seriously, I am a hobby pourer, so I can play around just for fun. If they do get bit, I will keep the baits out of the heat, because I don't want them to turn rancid, and I'll store them in the frig in the warmer weather. It's not a problem now, with temps at 33 at night, and a roaring 55 during the day. Hahaha
  10. Dave, you are soooo right. When I opened the microwave I was shocked. It looked like the Blob coming out of the melting cup.
  11. I found them on Ebay. Mine is still going strong after all these years. I don't think I'll be needing another one. I had just forgotten what they were called and who made them. At my age, I begin to wonder if I was just tripping.
  12. Thanks. That sounds right. It casts forever, and the stripers love it! Is it discontinued? I can't find it on their site. Of course, it could just be my computer skills shinning through again. Hahaha Here's a video from SoCal of a striper eating a Seducer:
  13. Adding soda blasting compound, instead of the sand blasting compound, does the same thing, only it makes a useless foam. Don't ask me how I know.
  14. I really appreciate you guys sharing this stuff with the rest of us. It is very interesting.
  15. Is there any way I can incorporate my left over bacon grease into my plastic without a problem? I mean, who doesn't like bacon?
  16. Ben, Didn't you say you filed a small flat on the upper screw's shaft, so you only had to remove it part way to let air in? Or was that in another galaxy, far, far away?
  17. Guys/gals, Years ago I bought this musky lure to fish for stripers, but I can't remember it's name. It is 9" long, and weighs 162 grams with hooks and hardware. Anyone recognize this:

I do wish you'd stop posting pictures of your baits. I'm leasing a house now, and I'm pretty sure that burning down my painting shop in the attached garage would void my lease. ;O)
  19. We used to use Timbor, a borax formula, to treat wood to prevent fungus, dry rot, termites, and powder post beetles. Timbor is a borate/glycerin/water treatment. http://nisuscorp.com/architects/products/tim-bor-professional Since the glycerin and water are the wetting agents that carry the borate into the wood, the borate is the anti-everything agent in the formulation, so I think it should kill the fungus/mold in the feathers and prevent it from spoiling.
  20. I think CNC is government speak for cynic.
