  1. I'm more interested in how cold beer goes with a hot tub at Christmas in Arizona!
  2. We expect a full report, along with pictures!
  3. There are lots of ways to mix paint. I just want to get the paint thoroughly mixed quickly, and I think the hand held mixer Ben shared will help me do that. I'm looking for quick and easy, and effective.
  4. My experience with bronze hooks is that they are not strong, and bend out really easily. When they get caught on a rock, I can pull them free, but it opens the hook, and dulls the point.
  5. I can see it now...accepting the Award for best sound track in a fishing lure.... The big question will be, Academy Awards, Grammys, or Country Music Awards?
  6. You just like that they named a color pattern after you!
  7. I've found that keeping the line tie point just behind the center of the lip, closer to the lure than the tip of the lip, seems to be about right for most of the baits I make. Almost a 55/45 ratio. That is for deep divers. I also found that the more shallow the bait is going to run, the closer to the nose I can move the line tie. I hope that makes sense.
  8. I've tried popsicle sticks, but I still wind up with lumps when I'm trying to mix up paint, especially my soft plastic colors that have been sitting too long. I drop two sst bb's into each new bottle when I open it, but they will get stuck in the bottom sometimes. I guess that's an argument for more bait making, so they don't have a chance to settle out. I used a Sawzall for most of my adult (alleged) life, and I will not be giving that a tryout as a paint mixer, thank you very much. Hahaha
  9. Well, thanks again Frank. We're even! Of course, that it assuming we weren't before. Hahaha
  10. I fished one in heavy brush and weeds all day Friday, and no problems. Maybe I just got lucky.
  11. Here in the US, even the engineers are imported from overseas. They'll work for less, and don't make waves about being overworked.
  12. It looks like a cross between a Paca Craw and a Rage Craw. Do the claws flap on a faster retrieve?
  13. Well then, another mystery I have to solve. But, first, where did I put my keys? Hahaha
  14. When the jobs that pay enough to allow Buy American to be possible are overseas, the US consumer is faced with only being able to afford cheap imports, and it's a vicious cycle. Buy more imports, kill more US jobs.
  15. If you wear a nitrile glove on the hand holding the lure while you paint, you can use your thumb or your finger as a stencil.
  16. However you achieve the effect you want is the correct way.
  17. Can a radio receiver be put into one of these lures, so your favorite heavy metal band's music could be broadcast from the lure?
  18. Bob, A small injector came with the mold (which I still pour). Have you wondered where that injector has been all these years?
  19. Dude, that's why I gave you those gloves! Hahaha Actually, Bob La Londe gave me an injector he made years ago, and he had put some plumbing pipe insulation around it to insulate it. I'm sure that would work for a bigger injector. Just keep a gap between the nozzle and the insulation, so it doesn't go down into the hot plastic.
  20. Thanks. I was thinking more along the lines of the abrasive cut off wheels, but I am nervous about something that wide, thin, and brittle spinning that fast. If I wind up doing it that way, I can see leather gloves and a face shield in my process.
  21. I remember your post about that Frank. Good people are good people, and you are obviously a good person.
  22. Ben, don't hate me, I just bought one. Hahaha
  23. Cleaning your brushes well between colors, and after each session, and never letting paint dry on them, is how you can use the same brushes for years.
  24. I don't know exactly who buys what from where, but I do know some sellers have more consistent, higher quality, better performing blanks than others. I would guess it has something to do with how much they pay for their stock, and where they get it.
