  1. The original wart is about the same size as a small crawdad. Probably matches the hatch. And the erratic action is like a fleeing crawdad, too.
  2. I haven't used it, but didn't Dick Nite develop one of his clears for coating blades? I understand it penetrates through the paint and bonds to the metal. Maybe that would be an alternative.
  3. I also painted some up in a phantom shad, and can't wait to throw them to boils. The action is really great.
  4. Just be sure the hook you want to use will let you open and close the eye first.
  5. It's hot and dry, and supposed to get hotter and dryer! Send us some water!
  6. Does the finish feel soft when it's fully cured, or only after a 48 hour soaking?
  7. Has anyone here tried to make these: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Snag_Proof_Bobbys_Perfect_Buzz_Frog/descpage-SPBPB.html I already had a Snag Proof Kicker Frog that I didn't like to throw, so added a sst shaft to the front, a buzzbait blade, and an O ring, and presto, a buzz frog. It floats, so you can do a painfully slow retrieve or pause, and if you keep it's head slightly up, it comes across grass without loading up. Best of all is that it catches fish, and it's heavy enough to cast in the wind.
  8. Another trip, another nice fish on the phantom red wart! I painted one for a friend, and he stuck four on it Friday on a tough bite.
  9. It sure seems to do the job! I use angle grinders a lot, and having a wood cutting blade on one would scare the crap out of me!
  10. Really? I thought those things were decorations! Hahaha
  11. That sounds like a big, fat wake bait bite. I'm fishing a grass lake next month. I'll give it a try if the grass is down enough. Thanks.
  12. I'm going to check it out. Thanks.
  13. You're a regular Fred Sanford! Hahaha I bought several pairs of reading glasses from CVS for $10/pair, and they lasted me for years, until my "friends" borrowed them and forgot to return them. There is nothing more frustrating than not being able to read the fine print!
  14. Can you use it to do detail work? I am ham fisted when it comes to fine lines, so I use sharpies, and paint over them with transparents to hide my shaky handiwork.
  15. How is the 4012 different from the 4011 reducer that I now use? I found that out the hard way. I now thin the wicked white so it sprays more easily.
  16. That makes sense. I guess the logical solution would be to use Etex or some other decoupage epoxy that allows for movement, but I'm too spoiled now to ever work that hard again. My lure turner is up in the rafters of my garage, gathering dust. RIP! I had to laugh when I realized what had happened. I'm sure it would have happened if I were using D2T or any other rigid glue epoxy/top coat, too. So my "dream" combination of AZEK PVC trimboard and Solarez does have limitations! I'll just have be a lot more careful to keep them out of the direct sun from now on. Being able to make a fishable lure so quickly and easily is a hard thing to give up on.
  17. Forgive me if I've posted this question before, but I can't remember. In the process of trying to get some Wicked White to shoot out of my Iwata 3mm tip, I pulled the needle back slightly, and it shot the paint okay. Not as well as if I'd thinned it like I should have beforehand, but enough to let me finish the paint in the bowl. Does anyone else do this?
  18. Bob, Here's a link to a gallery picture of the mag warts: http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/index.php?/gallery/image/13382-20140602-173019-resized/ They are pretty large, so maybe they absorb more heat and expand more than the 1.5 lures. I am not interested in doing a test to failure again, so I'll be monitoring them when it's hot, and keeping them in the shade.
