  1. Would putting a paper towel between your chin and the mask act as a wick or as a dispersing membrane, so the moisture that is condensing out of your breath would be absorbed and spread out, and not drip?
  2. Use the search key at the top of this page, and look for photo finishes. There's a ton of info there.
  3. Just watch where you mount the air intake. If you eat beans, you'll know what I mean! Hahaha
  4. I'm not a member of B.A.S.S., but I have a lifetime subscription to Bassmaster that I bought for $5 many years ago, when some middleman company had a promotion. I like the instruction and information driven articles. I read the rest to fall asleep. On a side note, I know Troy Lindner, and have met his dad Al quite a few times. Al even bit one of my first PVC swimbaits to see how hard it really was! I should have kept that one. They are both very good people, and nice, to boot.
  5. I know what you mean. My Cuba kid did accept the job in NY, so she'll be leaving in 6 months for a 2 year tour, minimum. I miss her already, and she hasn't even left yet!
  6. The replacement handles Lew's sent me are a much more finished looking product. The original handle had square edges, and was thicker. The new handles have eased edges, and seem to be thinner and more refined. The new handles have different knobs, but I don't really notice any difference fishing with them.
  7. Matt, Your reel looks really good. How long did it take you, start to finish?

    REDKNEE TARATULA CRAY

Really nice! You are very talented!
  9. The biggest issue would be what solvent is in the top coat. Check with the manuf. of the foam to see what solvents play nice with your foam.
  10. If you paid someone to pour them for you, ask for him/her to repour them. Loose anything is not good.
  11. They look good, but the fish will have the final word. It is weird how we wind up doing the same stuff we enjoyed as kids, as adults. Kinda like fishing. You should post your pictures in the Soft Bait gallery, and just add the link to them here. Posting pictures here seems to overload the system, or something, and Nathan (admin.) asked us not to do it.

Nice. I'm guessing the beer is the reward for a job well done!

Very nicely done! I like your color scheme.
  14. I use a black sharpie. If you look at a baby bass, the line is irregular, like a seismograph. I do my entire baby bass paint scheme, and then use the sharpie to add both the heavy mid line, and also some more irregular blotches and shapes above it up toward the back. If you look at a few photos of largemouth bass, you'll see they have the same kind of face stripes as smallies, only less pronounced. That's another feature you might want to add. Just remember a baby bass is trying to survive, so his colors are meant to blend in with his surroundings.
  15. Erick, Wet 'n Wild clear is cheap and does the job. CVS carries it.
  16. The fat weight, like a nail weight with a swollen head, that is inserted into the end of a plastic bait to give it additional weight. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/searchresults.html?search=products&searchtext=neko&x=7&y=5

Not a great picture, but it shows how the glo paint dries transparent.
  18. I do it with my brown and green powders. I add .15 purple, red, or green soft plastic glitter, and it comes out okay. The more you use, the more it shows, and the heat doesn't seem to affect it, at least for me. But I found that top coating with clear nail polish with glitter in it shows up more.
  19. I've used it for years. Even some of the cheaper clear polishes are hard, and will do the job, because they are formulated to protect the softer colored polish once that's been applied. You can also add soft plastic glitter to the clear to add flake to your jigs at the same time you protect them.
  20. I use solvent based sharpies, and just retouch it when it fades or kind of blurs. The Spikeit scented markers work, too, the ones you use to color soft plastics, but all of them are dyes, and will eventually creep and blur, and lose that crisp look you get at first.

The paint dries clear. I photographed it while it was still wet, so you could see how I textured it with a brush. I'll post the dry bait tomorrow.
  22. I do float test in a bucket of water.
