  1. Wouldn't that weaken the hook?
  2. If you need to seal/coat it before you pour your silicone, maybe try another coating that doesn't have a solvent base, like epoxy.
  3. Try hitting the bait with a hairdryer, once the wet look has gone away. I usually wait two hours after the final coat, and then hit it several times after that on the same day. Two days later it's ready to fish.
  4. My do-it essentials 5" senko mold doesn't dent. I shoot at 325+-, and hold pressure for a five count.
  5. Do you use a connector link? If so, what size?

  7. Preheating your injector should give you a little more time to shoot.
  8. You can stiffen almost any wood enough for detail carving, after getting it down to finish shape, by coating it with runny super glue. Just be sure to use sharp tools.
  9. Please post here if you find something that works.
  10. I've never heard of it. Do you have a link to a source or specs?
  11. If your machine has Teflon seals, acetone should dissolve any crud.
  12. Wow, that is a lot of water! I hope you and yours stay dry and safe.
  13. This rain is a blessing and a curse. We need the rain, and the snow, but not all at once. When will the State Water Board recognize that climate change has altered our weather patterns permanently, and begin planning for it, instead of spending billions trying to close the barn door after the horse has already left?
  14. I live in NorCal, and I'm looking for a magic formula to make it stop raining, at least temporarily.
  15. In my experience, anything added to the tail creates drag, and slows down the swimming action.
  16. Be sure to wear safety glasses when you brush acid. That crap flies everywhere.
  17. Post script: I used a modified pair of side cutters to remove the sprues. but I still had to carve away some lead. Can someone here tell me where I can buy some flush cutters (I think they are called gate shears)? Thanks in advance.
  18. Pouring update: I cleaned out the pot, removed the spout closure bar, and cleaned out the spout. There was a ton of crud in it, and in the bottom of the pot. I sanded the inside of the pot with 400grit wet and dry, and then sprayed WD 40 into the pot, and on the closure bar. Then I sprayed isopropyl alcohol into the pot, and wiped the closure bar with alcohol. I blew out the alcohol with my compressor, and heat dried everything with my hair dryer. I sprayed Drop Out into the pot and spout. I sprayed Drop Out on the closure bar, too. I let everything dry for several days, and then reassembled. In between steps on the pot, I fluxed 9lbs of lead with paraffin and burned it off with a lit paper towel. I skimmed all the crap (dross/) off the lead, and poured it into 1/2lb and 1lb ingots. Today, I heated the pot on 7, and melted 5lbs of lead ingots. I put my mold on top of the pot while it heated. While the lead was melting, I put a teflon bowl under the spout to catch any drips. There were none. Once the lead was melted, I lifted the spout closure rod to see how it poured. Holy crap! The lead flowed in a beautiful steady stream into the teflon bowl, and shut off, with no drips, when I released the handle. I did one pour with no hooks, and everything filled completely, so I loaded my hooks and weed guard pins. I put the mold in my metal working vice, and gave it a good squeeze, to make sure it closed completely with the hooks in place, and then I poured my first batch. They came out perfect! I wound up pouring 10 each of 1/4oz, 3/8oz, and 1/2oz weedless arkie jigs. Thank you all so much for all your help!
  19. Dink, Does the torch affect the strength or temper of the hooks?
