So what is the real story? If you heat set the createx does the Seal Coat not eat it up??
I already ordered a pint yesterday - and some of CSI's epoxy.
I make striped bass plugs. I use a six inch, 5/32" brad point - hit the plug from the rear to the belly hole (for longer plugs I follow through with a 12" bit and a hand drill).
Most of my plugs require offset for the front (mid slot lips). I use a 1/8" brad point to reach the first belly hole from my mark for the lip slot.
Do you think it's strong enough to hold up to Musky teeth?? It doesn't seem like it will be??? I just got a can of it and I am dipping lures this afternoon.
Thanks Brian
Hey Lou! See you on SOL all the time nice work!
Birdy - Why not buy one?? I got one made by a guy for half the price they sell them at Penn St. industries - otherwise I would have bought one.
birdy - I am turing square stock to round. the hss cutter dulls alot quicker than the carbide. I would gather the you get 5x the life out of carbide vs. HSS
believe me, the guy who made them is a machinist and a frugal man - he would not have made them if they where not of value
I use a Delta Midi with a Vega dupe - MUCH faster (and obviously more accurate)
A machinist friend made a carbide cutter for me that lasts longer than the HSS cutter that comes with.
I use the Vega dup as well - great little machine!!!
Here's a tip - if you know a machinist, get him/her to make you a carbide tip cutter. It last a heck of alot longer then the HSS that comes with it.
Cheers,
Brian
