  1. take in condersation that i'm as green at this as a golf course putting greea !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!do you guys use a base coat on all the lures you are painting? i ordered some crankbait bodies and it says ready to paint. should i use steel wool then spray a base coat on before i start shooting my orgional color?     IMO a great job!! do you use a pen or airbrush on the gill's?? if ya don't mind me asking. i am just a beginner and haven't finished my first lure. the gill is next and i am nervous about messing up the work i have already done. Rchard

    looks great!!!!!!!!!! photo blurr is easilly corrected, i have been taking photos for over 30 years and i may be able to help with the blurred photos. not meant to offend you, i hope people will help me when i post my first photo of my lure. try this:. switch the camera to "macro" zoom in to desired shot hold down on shutter button 1/2 way, this allows the camera to focus on the object, after object is in focus. . gentlly squeeze the shutter the rest of the way richard

    i am just getting started and i think the lures look really good, great job!!! how long have you been painting lures? do you use a template on the red gill?? if you don't mind me saying something about the "blurred" photo ? if you are using a digital camera you need to switch your camera to "macro" and then zoom in and hold the camera shutter buttion 1/2 way down, this allows the camera to focus on the object and will take an actual size photo. i hope this will help you an the photo's as for the lures they are great. i hope i can get as good as you are on the lures. i am a rookie at the lures.   6. should i take steel wool and lightly sand between each coat of paint. i use createx water-based paint and the finish is a little dull. does the epoxy bring a shinny look to the finished lure? snooterfish

  9. i hope you guys aren't getting tired of my questions, but i really am dumb to this new pass time. i go to my tackle box for old lures to practice on and its hard to do 1) have any of you tried the bodies at luremaking.com?? they seem a real bargin. 2) what about there 2 part epoxy? 3) whats your opnion on Devcon epoxy thanks again snooterfish

    Poe's rebuild

    the poe looks better than the orgional, i am new to this, is the third one from the left coated with an epoxy or is a clear coat?? richard
  12. i have been admiring some of you guys crankbaits that you have painted they look great also and i was wondering if you use a regular airbrush to get the thin lines such as the gill or do you use an air pen, paint marker ? i have been working on some lures and i am ready to begin with the gills and they need to be a rather fine line. my brush has a #2, #3 and a #5 tip. is one of these ok to use??? snooterfish
  13. guys i have a crankbait that is no longer in production and i have broken the lip off, it's almost even with the lure body, is there any way to remove whats left of the broken lip and install a new one?? thanks for any help you guys might want to offer snooterfish

  15. I am just getting started in airbrush painting crankbaits and i am having a really hard time getting my airbrush to spray "Createx " airbrush paint. It's water based and it not the autopaint brand. can someone please give me a little hint what i am to do and how is a real good way to get started, my brush has 3 needle's and nozzles, #2, medium and #5 Thanks RICHARD
