  3. Try Durapak.net and I think they have an ebay site.
  4. I used to buy clamshells by the case when I poured alot of swimbaits. They are pricey for sure. If you can get away with it try the PVC boxes. They come in all sizes and are half the price.
  5. Pretty hard to beat Ebay for prices and free shipping. Anyone ever use a DeVilriss Dagr airbrush?? The different size of screw on cups sure would be nice to have.

    Crackle Back Craw

I havent added the clear yet. I wanted to get a picture just in case I acrewed it up.....
  7. Isn't the lifetone neon colors a transparent paint? If they are perhaps your spraying it on too thick. Generally if you want neon orange to really jump out then it is a combo of four different colors not just the neon orange; orange needs a white base coat [any neon colors needs a white base]; then a chartreuse, then transparent orange, then your neon orange. It will jump out and get ya with those steps. I suppose you could skip the chartreuse and transparent orange step but I like a nice blend and not a deer hunter orange look....
  8. Just curious, how do you break two triple trouts? Those things are as close to bullet proof as it gets...........
  9. I have painted the BBZ-1 replicas and they swim pretty good. I purchased the colored musky tails instead of the clear plastic trout tail. Too many fins, sharp edges, and the size made me choose a spray on clear. I used rubberbands to hold the bait.

    Tater Hog Swimmer

I finally got around to finishing this thing up..... Ol' Tater makes some pretty sweet baits!!
  11. Owners are the Gold Standard or the GLoomis of hooks. If you want a hook that simply doesnt loose fish then the KVD Mustad is the choice. Diaichi <sp> Death Trap are nice if ya need a light wire treble.

    ditto, sweet bait!!
  13. As Vedra said if you will heat set first the paint shouldnt come off. I usually do my line before I pull the netting off so the tape is never touching the bait. Ya always run the risk of the tape leaving a residue behind which can cause a very nice "pothole" in the clear coat.
  14. I must be getting old, cause I can't paint 10 baits in a full day [from start to finish]. Perhaps if I was from Texas and could hire some cheap labor to base coat my "proto-type" [not knock-offs] cranks, I could get'r done. PS: Tater has entirely too much time on his hands.....
  15. I shallow hard and work fast when I'm clear coating a $10 Lucky Craft. I would probably have a seizure on a $27 Ito 110. And I have never seen a close out or special run of 110's for under $22 each. I would be interested to know how many of the people who commented have actually fished a real Ito 110 and one of these replicas. I have fished both a lot and they are different. Here is what I do; I throw the replica into the nasty places and save the real Ito for the open places. Due to the shape epoxy does not like this bait. A dip or spray on clear coat would be best.

    I like it!!
  17. This question gets asked about once a week. Dont go with some cheapo Iwata replica to save a few bucks. The thing will quickly wear out and give you problems. Eventually you will retire the brush out of frustration and end up spending the $100 for an Iwata anyway. Just spend the $$ now. It makes painting so much easier with a quality brush. A .3mm tip will do just about anything. I have a cheapo Iwata knock off I will sell.....LOL
  18. The airbrush is pushing it under the tape. Use the green painters tape [not sure of the name] it is available at just about any hardware store. In my experience it works better than the blue painters tape. Plus regular masking tape will leave more sticky stuff on the bait. Not thinning the paint as much will help too..
  19. Guess I will go against the grain here. I think your changing the strength of epoxy when you thin it. If you want it thinner just heat it up with a blow dryer. Also run a blow dryer over your bait a little before putting it on the turner. This will even it all out and get rid of any bubbles. Lumps can also be caused by continuing to work 2-ton after it starts to harden.
