    Lead Prices ?

Melted many, many pounds of lead using a turkey fryer. Never used the camping stove, but know of others that do.
  2. Flounder/striper/bluefish........ Heading down in a few hours to try my luck at all three, and more.

    Lead Prices ?

how big is the pot? Big enough to sit on a Turkey fryer stand? Get some good strong wire, and wire that pot onto the turkey fryer stand. (If you have one, or know someone that does) Know anyone that has a colemens camping stove? Will it fit on that?
  4. I didn't know there where that many different manufacturers of powder paints.
  5. I agree with you there. Sometimes, even the pink gives me a problem, but my container of pink is getting pretty old, and that may be part of it. Other colors are just fine.
  6. Sally Hansons hard as nails. Even use it for a final coat when tying tails on jigs or hooks.
  7. Here is 2 links for the RCBS that are under $300, but I didn't check shipping. http://www.buffaloarms.com/browse.cfm/4,2483.htm http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=209097
  8. RCBS here also, but if your looking to keep your budget in check, this is not the one to get. I see on other sites people using the Lee's 4-20 pot, but if you read the specs section, it said "Note: The position of the pour spout underneath this furnace does not make it well suited for bottom pouring spinner jig molds or other molds that require wires to protrude above". In that case, they are using the pour cup/ladle and scooping out of the top. Anything over 2 oz., I pour with a ladle from a pot on a turkey fryer stand.
  9. I just paint them on. I don't think the fish care if you spend the extra $$ for stick on eyes, or just put a dallop of blak paint on them. Depending on the size jig, just cut the cotton end off a Q-tip, and use that to dip in the paint, cut the end off and save for the next time. We have sold a lot of jigs this way also.
  10. Have seen several sites have the number, but they all vary somewhat, but the melting point of "pure" lead is between 600-630 degrees. I have my RCBS pot set at 800-850. Don't know if thats what the lead really is, but that's where it's set lol.

    Tying help

Being new tying, I searched the web for many hours looking for help on tying. I don't know if this was posted before, but if your new to this and need some visual help, go to Youtube.com and type in tying bucktails, or flytying into the search. There are several videos there showing how to tie various items. Here is one. Hope this helps someone.

    Acid dyes

I need help using acid dyes for my tails. I have 6 different colors already to use, but instructions for tails are hard to come by. Did a search and results were of little help also. If anyone uses acid dyes, what is your procedure, and different times for the different colors. Thanks!
