If using an extension cord, consider buy an appliance extension cord to handle the higher amp items you are running.

You got me brother lol. I hate messing with electrical things. Don't know anything about your point, but that dimmer switch thing came to mind. I would think an electrical supply company would have something that wold work. You should have seen me trying to wire a train layout! Lights the size of a grain of wheat, counting how many there were and figuring out what resister to get.....no thanks! Glad my Daughter married an electrician last April!

I find the less powder I have in the cup, the more issues I have. You folks that use the vibrator stuff.....do you hook it up to a dimmer switch like you would see for a light? You could have good control with it that way.

Minwax polycrylic. Been using it for 8 years now to cover the eyes, and some times paint the whole jig with 2 thin coats. Hasn't yellowed or cracked over time, either. I also use it to coat my threads for my hair jigs, and hair teasers on my flounder hooks. never had threads come undone other than from a toothy Bluefish ripping them apart. Price wise, it's a bargain, and no hassle of mixing the epoxy. Will admit if you are going for pretty, the Devcon 30 minute epoxy looks better.

Look for them on this forum. Other post.

That is where I got mine, and after 4 years and many 1000 hook teasers, and jigs tied, the clamping cam wore out. Bad for me.......they company sold out, and the new company didn't seem to interested in a fix for me. But I do love that vise. They do make a true rotary one now, but I have no need for that either. I held up to 8/0 in mine on the 4oz. spro heads. One on Amazon right now for $119, It looks like the true rotary also

Me 3. I use the snot out of them in the creeks for bass, crappie and perch. If time permits, I want to start making them myself.

I don't know if this will help you, but check out U-line web site.

If you are using a small toaster oven, just flip it upside down and hang from the rack.
-
Another good way to do it is go to Barlows tackle online and find that mold. There is info on eyes and hook sizes there. You can even order them there.
-
Really nice work! Thanks for the pics also.

The pics of the lures, are you making them or you are making lures that look like these? I have seen some different Jab lures in person and liked them. I know guys that have a mold for this lure head, and then buy the material to make parachute rigs out of them. Something else I do you may want to think about...on the minnow heads, I buy the rubber squids and install them onto those jigs. You can get all kinds of colors and different lengths. I only use a Glow Squid. Works great during the day, but seems not to good at night. Must be the fish think they are radioactive and stay away from eating them lol.

I use 5/0 hooks in the 2oz., 6/0 for the 4oz., and either hook for the 3oz. A little work with and exacto razor knife on the post so it fit the smaller hook eye. I found the flash on the hook shaft to be at a minimum.

I know people that fish the BB tunnel and Kiptopeke area on the north side of the bridge. Never went down there from Pa. myself. Have another guy on my one forum that goes out on his kayak in the v. beach area.

I have never done that, but I would think it would just change the "total" color. Like mixing blue and yellow, it would turn to green. Some do it with hopes of getting a "vein" look. I would bet against that.

Subvet, First off, thanks for your service! I do a lot of Ultra minnow jigs, mostly 4oz. anymore. Are you using a fluid bed? I dip them into a fluid bed all the time. Nice work on what you have done so far.
-
I don't make skirted jigs, but just want to say thanks for taking the time for those who want to. They are good, easy to follow videos!
-
Because I use them in fresh water and salt, the do it minnow head.
-
I still use the round toothpick method. Probably would not work with the smaller sizes some of you may use, but down to #8 hooks, works for me. After the painting of the jig, if there is paint in the eye, I run the round toothpick through the eye while spinning it and the wood pulls off some of the extra paint. May have to do it 2-3 times and hold it over the heat gun again if I really messed up and over painted it.

Yes, curious on this one myself. I have the super glow powder in 2 colors, and only used it 1 time. but did not see this. I bake different than some here. My jigs are put in the cold oven, then turned on for 25 minutes, then turned off so it is a slow process of heating up.

Looks really good. Never tried that. My Wifes BIL did make some ear rings out of some larges spinner blades I gave him.

You are being to hard on yourself! That jig will catch fish. Badger mini sand blaster works for this if you want to go that route.. I picked one up on Amazon for under $30 on sale. Looking at your jig, is your powder "smoking" after you dip it? I guess I should ask are you using fluid bed first? If it is, the jig is to hot. Looks like your getting to much base coat on there. Your eye has a lot of powder and your "keepers" look full also. No need to even coat the end where your swim bait/plastics will go. Having an over heated jig can cause this. Amount of powder on the brush, and the height you are tapping from is what will take some practice doing. Depending on what style of jig you are using, the angle you are holding the jig can make a difference as to how it will come out. The spro heads in my pic are 4oz. I use cheap crayola brushes. Some of them have the width of the brush tips cut down for those smaller areas I want to get.

I have heard of others having this happen, even my Dad had it happen. 8 years now and still hasn't happened.

Cadman was nice enough to send a lot of members a tutorial on how to do this. May want to send him a PM.

I did my EIN and excise tax numbers online if I remember right. State one also now that I think about it. The quarterly 720 form you can download online, type it in and print it out. Just make sure you get the updated one.
