  1. RBASS57, Krylon is great paint but it's not a requirement that you to use it. I recommend white Krylon primer base coat because it dries fast but as far as colors go, you can use anything. As a general rule: the cheaper it is, the longer it takes to dry. The hardest part about rattle cannin' is the waiting. Auto parts stores have cool & unique metallic colors. Hobby stores, like Michael's, have gold and silver glitter sprays and nice pearl colors. Experiment, play around and have fun with it. That's what this game is all about.

    Twin Eyes

These are nice Pete. I like the free-hand quality of the walleye bars. Great job.

    7" Crappie Twitcher

The Crappie - A TU right of passage. Anyone who is anyone has a crappie in their gallery so here is my attempt. - Maple wood - Stainless screw eyes - 7/0 treble hooks - Polycarb lip - Createx paints - Devcon 2T epoxy I left the hook off the back to give the tail some extra wiggle. Hopefully leaving a hook off the back won't come back and bite me in the tail! We'll see I guess.

Nice jailbird pattern. Very clean. Good work.

    Emerald Shiner

Ah, very nice. And complete with your signature hairline gill marking. She's a beautie. Diemai, my guess is that the zig-zag was applied with a silver paint marker. I could be wrong though.....
  6. Thanks, getting ready for bassin

    Musky Crank

Wow, this is terrific. I'd love to have one of these on my box come opening day. Very, very nice.
  8. Very nice. Good colors, clean work. Definitely the level I aspire to to be at some day. -Don

    Atomic Carp

This is an ERC Hell Hound re-paint. There's a ton of carp in the Madison Chain of lakes so I painted this pattern to mimic one. Hopefully it will fool a musky or two. Paasch VL airbrush Createx paints My wife's laundry bag (shhh....don't tell her) Devcon 2 ton epoxy Tell me what you think. -Don

    Husky Musky

Cool. Looks very old school like the lures I fished with as a kid - back when it seemed the only musky lures were these, Globes, Mepps bucktails and Suicks. I bet this will still catch em! Very nice.
  11. Hi , Waterlogged , I am happy , that you like this lip design , it would surely be worth a try on your local musky , of course on a bigger lure .

As I wrote in my describtion , I utilized a kind of hobbyist router machine to cut the lip to shape , but I believe , that it can also be made with more simple tools , though this would take longer .

I would first cut out the lip shape with a saw , the blade should not be too narrow for better guidance to achieve straight cuts , after take a file to smoothen the sawcuts , for the 90

    the "Splasher"

Very unique mouth shape unlike anything I've seen. I agree with fatfingers - hats off to you for trying to make something that does not exist on the open market . A popper style bait that can be worked in rough water is unheard of. Poppers here in the states are generally used only on dead calm water. Great concept and nice thinking outside of the box! I want to build one for muskies but that cupped mouth shape looks crazy - advanced woodworking for sure!

    Jointed Variations

Cool photo. I love seeing homemade baits in the mouths of fish. So of the 3 lip styles, which works the best? Did you learn any great lip size/shape/angle findings that you can share with us?
