Hey guys, just a thought here, was at my little ones camp jamboree this evening and one of the things they got to do was carve up a bar of soap into anything they wanted, each kid got a bar of soap and a popsickle stick. The parents were also encouraged to participate. i carved out a goldfish, like the one on the goldfish crackers, it came out ok considering the primative tools. I thought about the amazing baits I have seen on here and wondered if any of you could carve a crankbait out of a bar of soap.... Now on to the challenge...carve a crankbait out of a bar of soap, use whatver you want to carve or wittle, paint it if you like or can??? I'll wait 2 weeks, best looking soap bait and most comments(posted in gallery) will get some free custom soft plastics from me...in exchange for the soap carved crankbait of course Is it doable? can you paint soap? originality is a big plus, if you can't paint them that's fine, just thought it might be something to kill some time and see how creative this group can be..whata ya say?..any takers?

Too funny guys, I'll add another recent event. Was pouring out in the shop and heard this buzzing noise coming from the table behind me. I look over and see this huge beetle trying to seduce one of my fluke baits, I try and shake it off but no luck, I bring it over to my pouring table, open the window in front of me and flick it out. Didn't think much of it, i heat up 4 ounces of plastic and get ready to pour some sticks when like a 747 hitting the side of a mountain, this beetle comes flying back into the shop and lands right in my cup. It was instant death and quite startling. The beetle is now a junebug, literally, I was making junebug sticks. The bug sits on the shelf forever preserved in plastic, hey at 2 am I thought it was hilarious

Ok what was your worst pouring experience? Here is mine I was out in my shop making some baits late one night, everything was really quiet. My wife had stopped in 2 or a dozen times asking when i would be done.." In a minute, in a minute" I replied, well minutes led to hours and before I knew it it was 1 a.m. I figured she was off to sleep, so i figured some two tone frogs were in order. i poured the bellies and then heated up some green for the tops and legs. Now with the frog mold I have it's imperative that the second colors are really hot to get a good thin stream so you don't clog the molds. I was just about ready to start pouring when my wife came out of the house and slammed her hands against the garage door. Well needless to say, that 4 ounces of plastic was all over me in a split second. I almost had tears in my eyes it hurt so bad. so I learned three things. Installed auto lights for when my wife comes out never tell your wife in a minute in a minute and drag it out for more than 5 minutes never pour baits late at night in shorts *optional--Keep garage door open...

for a first pour, they are about 90% better than most. Hell, I still have the first bag of sticks I poured. Never used them, don't know why I saved them. but I did. My first color was black w/blue flake. I was hooked...pun intended, I use a spatula in the pot. gluegun? never used one so i can't comment, aluminum molds are by far the best IMO, and seeing as you just started, I can tell you of some questions/comments you might get thrown at ya if your married That stuff smells take it outside Do you really expect me to put something to heat up in that microwave now? Honey, why are there charges for 468.00 for a Bobstackleshack? How'd you burn your hand like that? Stop leaving your f%^&*$& worms all over the house Honey, where's my measuring cups? You got another package today Honey, did you order 75 lbs of salt? You have glitter on your ( insert body part here) Why are your hands purple?(accidents happen)

I agree, lurecraft by far has the fastest turn around time, MF is right there with them..

I never have to heat the salt, I'm in southern ohio and it's humid and hot and the salt is stored in the hot hot garage in a plastic container. no problems with moisture in the plastic jugs either.#What sucks is running out of salt..which I did yesterday and then got a 300 stick order followed by 125 count on frogs, frogs no problem( More molds would be nice) but i had to do an emergency order on the salt, luckily, it was here today

I just received a pint bottle from LC as a sample recently. No seperation on it at all, not sure if the same would be true with a 5 gallon bucket. I believe it was their supersoft. I like it a lot MF- great plastic, no seperation whatsoever even in the 5 gallon, smell isn't bad at all and it makes great baits. Would be interesting to mix the MF and the LC in equal parts and see what i get....damn, time for 10 more gallons :-)

Some companies are very good about placing requested samples with your order. The key is to place an order. I don't do samples unless an order is placed and wouldn't expect anyone to do that either MF- solid, if your place an order they will give you a bunch of samples, then again i spend a lot of money with them Del-Mart- Gave me a free sample of some scent I wanted to try at no cost Lurecraft- Gave me a bunch of samples after I had already received an order from them, asked me about my business and what they could do to secure some of that hard earned money I was spending. top notch customer service. I would even go as far to spend a few more pennies on the dollar for the same product considering the customer service and personal interest in my business

Yeah, I found the clamshells , got them all seperated in 25 count packs, printed little stickers, now to package them up when the clamshells arrive. did the math on everything, It all comes out to 1.18 per 25 pack, packaged and ready to sell. Now to discuss retail with stores...that's a whole new thread :-)

Thanks for the advice guys. Looks like the clamshells are the way to go

hell, I'll sell some for 7.00 a hundred. they really aren't expensive when you buy them in bulk

Hey guys, maybe you can help out. I was on a quest for over 5 months now trying to get a manufacturer for some 2/0 octopus hooks that would meet my expectations for a wacky rig hook. I also wanted them in red. Well I finally struck a deal and plunged my hard earned cash into about 10,000 hooks. Does anyone know where to find some sort of packaging for hooks? I would like to do some resale, make a few bucks and get my hooks for free, but putting them in a small ziplock type bag is kinda cheesey and probably wouldn't sit well with most of the stores I deal with. Oh and I am also selling in 25 and 100 packs only so the packaging must be a bit bigger than your normal 10 count package. any help would be appreciated

DR wrote>>>>>>>>>>Interested in how effective you all think Laminates really are and wether they are worth all the extra work? Do they fish any better and produce better results or not? They have their time and place depending on color or I should say colors.. baby bass in clear water does really well and red shad on cloudy days or at night is also a very good producer. don't ask me why cause I have no idea, just going from personal experience

Oh hell, I know how much it cost me, I was just wondering if i need to look for new suppliers based on what others are paying for materials, am i paying too much for bags? salt?, but to answer those questions, I'm not. In fact for those that sent me PM's stating what they pay for different things, I will send you some links so that you can check some items out that may be usefull and a bit cheaper

I have a zippy, curly tail worm mold, think it's one of Bob's. It works great as long as your plastic is hot enough for a thin stream, excellent on a drop shot rig

the hell with the tubing, too much work... IMO... go to your local dentist or othodeontist and get some of those little rubberbands (o rings) they use on braces, some are more than happy to give some to you, take a small sharpie cap and roll the ring over it, put the senko in the hollow end of the cap and push the o ring onto the senko, quick easy and the rings are always snug, works like a charm

ahh if you want a match for the originals, get yourself a small postal scale. the kind that ways in ounces and grams, me personaly I use 1.5 tblsp to 4 ounces of plastic. If I know I'm fishing shallow 2-5 feet, I keep a bunch of sticks with just a 1/2 tblsp of salt to 4 ounces. GY makes a senko lite for fishing in shallower water, I also have a bunch of customers who just want no salt, for carolina rigging, drop shotting or putting on slider jigs etc etc. to each is own, good luck in your quest

Here is the purple smoke pearl from MF. i ordered this and the blue smoke pearl. what's nice is the baits come out consistent, no measuring pearls or hi-lites just add color and heat. The blue smoke pearl is very nice too. I'll let you know about the smoke gold pearl as well If your using dark colors you can add this as a pearl as the main color is lite grey. The purple smoke worked great in the black and green

it's really obvious that the fish is only fed every now and then. You can see the fish staring out the tank as the guy gets the mouse. He knows it's feeding time. He could have put a small kitten in there and the fish would have eaten it, bass will eat just about anything they can fit in hteir mouths and from experience, sometimes things that won't fit in their mouths
