  1. Who did you buy it from and why was it awful?
  2. IMO in stained water the action will be the biggest factor. Fish will rely mostly on their lateral line not vision.
  3. That was epic! I was expecting Maximus to appear and say "Are you not entertained?!"
  4. Have to concur with everyone. It was hilarious and spot on!
  5. Thanks for sharing. It turned out great.
  6. LOL I thought it was just me who was lost.
  7. Wow! The head section looks fantastic. Nice details.
  8. I've made swimbaits using 200lb braid for hinges. The biggest problem I ran into was the clear coat process. There is just no way to keep the lure from flopping every which way and also no way to avoid the top coat traveling onto the braid. With metal hinges you have some small control, plus removing clear coat from metal hinges is quite easy - just get something small enough to fit into the gaps and scrape away. With braid, one small mistake and it's bye-bye hinge. If you construct your lure with a product that is water resistant from the start, that would help alleviate the final part of the lure process.
  9. New site's not so bad. But the white background has got to go. Aaack! My eyes!
  10. Appearance should never be more important than swimming action. I would trim the fins down to make it more streamlined and see if that helps. If not, I'd just remove them or try to replace them with a different material. There's no point in having a realistic looking lure if it doesn't swim the way you want.

    Walleye Swimbait

That looks fantastic Snax. Killer paint job.
  12. Nice job Snax. Are you going to keep the molded fins/tail or are you planning on replacing them with fibetts?
  13. I like watching his show. His workshop episodes are fantastic. It's nice just seeing what he has in his shop.
  14. I've tried epoxy, hot glue, silicone and anything else that I happen to come across that might work. The biggest problem is consistency. Sometimes they turn out great and other times I just can't seem to get it right. Now I just buy them and save myself the headache and lost time.
  15. In all like-li-hood you'll probably have to add a lip. I think getting two sectioned swimbaits to swim correctly is harder than three/four sectioned ones. I also bought a Jackall lipless two-sectioned bait years ago and the swim is horrible.
  16. Sorry, never tried it. I would be nice if you posted your results though. I always see these posts about coloring plastic and everyone always gets directed to lurecraft, but no one ever states whether the stuff works or not; or how well it works. I'd give it a shot myself, but it's currently 10 degrees outside and my garage isn't heated so testing will have to wait a few months.
  17. Nice job. I use to make my own when I only made a couple of lures a year. I used the epoxy method. Now I just purchase them from Lisa & Ed's - less hassle and the eyes will always be consistent.

    Shad bait

    Your baits always look fantastic!
  19. Once again you've WOW'd us with your innovation and creativity. Awesome work!
  20. Pretty simple: small lure=small eyes. Large lure=large eyes. Don't make it too hard on yourself. Hold the eye up to the lure and if it looks good...it's good
  21. After five coats it shouldn't be a problem. Be sure to use fine grain sandpaper and apply light pressure.
