  1. Salt will also change the color of your baits.
  2. I use a down rod to mix the plastisol. No need to shake it and easier on the casting arm lol.
  3. I also use a lower wattage microwave. I have experienced bubbles but, it was due to a different brand of plastisol. As I stated in a different post, ask a few companies for a small sample and go with what works best for you and your equipment. Good luck.
  4. Try contacting some of the companies and get samples, then go with the one that gives you the best results. Good luck with the discussions that are sure to follow.
  5. I agree with camrynekai, a heat exchanger is a lot faster than a microwave if you are going to produce a very large volume of baits. It's just a little costly to get started with.
  6. I use the microwaves to heat my plastic and then use fry daddy to keep the plastic heated while I inject my molds. I also use the mic to remelt the sprue's to cut down on wast. I have also been doing this for about 9 years and using the microwave is the fastest way to heat plastic for use with a fry daddy, presto pot, or the lee pouring pot that I have found so far. Hope this helps.
  7. Thanks bassinfool, I'm glad somebody has it. This spell checker on my phone has been killing me lol.
  8. I use dye for most baits but if I don't want my baits to bleed, I use a past coloring. Past also helps get a more consistent color.
  9. Resist the temptation to give baits away at the local tourney and you can recoup some of your investment by making lures for others. Just keep the good colors for yourself lol.
  10. I have the 3 oz. size and all my molds are 4 cavity. It's easier to handle bit you can't shoot as many molds. If you have more than 5 or 6 molds that you are shooting laminated colors with, then I would go with the 6 oz.
  11. I would get the smaller( 3 oz I think?) size as it's easier to handle when shooting the mold.
  12. I use vegetable oil for cleaning both Pyrex cups and melting pots. Rubbing alcohol also does great when cleaning the pots.
  13. I used to sell to a lot of bait stores but most went out of business during the big recession. Also, a lot of tournaments and directors took product to sell. That being said, with the cost of materials it's hard to compete with the overseas suppliers. I make mine to trade with others who make crank baits and spinner baits. We all win in the end.
  14. Color doesn't matter. Shoot me a picture and let me know how much. Thanks. That's supposed to be a pm. Spell check got me again lol
  15. You can also re-melt some of your old plastics to same a few $$$$.
  16. Does anybody have a sample of bts molds 2.25" trailor and 3" craw trailor? Also would like a sample of bass tackle 712 craw. Will gladly pay for samples and shipping. Thanks
  17. Try using copper color. We tried to produce gold in our tube baits and after a lot of off color we stumbled onto the copper color and it worked perfect. Hope it works for you.
  18. I use a can crusher. Most discount stores carry them for under $15.00
  19. You can also use a can crusher. They can be found at discount stores for under $15.00
  20. Thanks, the flo yellow and watermelon worked great..
  21. Did a search but couldn't find a recipe for the zoom cudzu color. Looks to be watermelon with florecent yellow. Any ideas or recipes would be helpful. Thanks, Gary
  22. Bison Bags will do a reverse laminate print for your bags. They are out of New Jersey. After the cost of the plates the price is reasonable. We started with 30,000 bags and the cost was about .24 ea.
