  1. Thanks Dave, this process has a lot of promice, I have been making my own for a while from epoxy, but this seems much simpler and realistic.. Can I suggest not to bother putting in the white 'glint' in the pupil, you will automatically get this when you 'dome' the eye and would be much more natural (it follows you). Thanks again for all that work, I also have 'photoshop' in here somewhere. Pete
  2. Wollworths, Coles, Bunnings or just the corner shop. Pete
  3. Yes Jeep, just found this and I agree that is really something special- with action/finish like that I'm sure it won't be long before you catch a strike on film-- Good luck with it. Pete
  4. No Ben, I am thinking of taking up sailing as I spend most of my time bobbing around doing nothing, might as well use the boat for something. Pete
  5. you should always play your hunches Dave, looks like you made the right decision???????

  6. As always Dave/Ben, fascinating stuff, I’m still struggling with a formula where you can weigh a blank and calculate the precise ballast weight to make it neutral when finished, sooooo many variables. Something I think much neglected, is the vertical rather then horizontal ‘fight’ between buoyancy and ballast. One of the all time greatest lures ‘Rapala Original/CD’ (IMHO), and one which has been accounting for large numbers of Trout around here lately, uses this to get that enticingly subtle action that many makers have copied, these lures exploit the buoyancy of balsa with a slight taper on the sides, relatively little ballast (wire, hooks and rings), and a tiny bib to get that irresistible sway that fish can’t seem to resist. If this lure was made of a heavier timber and ballasted the same it would probably be useless and in all likelihood roll over. Just some food for thought?? Dave how is the dust collector going??- got mine near to acceptable------ Pete.
  7. Thank's EVERYONE , I'm on "highway 61"--------Feel nowhere near it. Pete
  8. Just beautiful work John. Pete
  9. Ah Ha!!!! Ben, never seen this one, looks like a good product. Pete
  10. 'Testors Decal Paper' (No 9201) is what I use in my 'Ink Jet' printer (Canon). http://www.cybermode...tes_decal.shtml Pete
  11. Late as usual Dave but I know you would have had a 'Smirnoff'' or two. Hope it was a good one. Pete
  12. Humberto - I have bought from both of the above, and 'Ultra' was the best service/price, if you are having trouble with stock-- here is a few more that are supposed to stock it http://www.hhq.com.au/store/cart.php?page=nsw_dealers Pete
  13. StrykerLures - as Dave says 'water slide' are the go, here's one I put on a box recently, just pick your colour (this one was dark green), font and font size, print it, slide it on and clear it - if you need a heap, just print a full page and cut them off as you need them. Pete

    Stealth Trout

Very different, and very nice John - never knew there was a black one - I am off tomorrow to try and snare some Browns and Rainbows in the mountains, weather looks pretty bad though. Being there is half the fun. Pete
  15. Yes Dave forgot to have a look - Nice, very simple but effective, I was wondering why you would not do it before you started, but then the penny dropped, this is something anyone using a machine is going to have to come to terms with - Or if they are like me, forget to cut it in the first place. Pete
  16. Ben - Did you add any thinners to the D/N, if you thin it too much it (extra thinners) could be attacking the paint, or conversely the D/N maybe too thick and is not 'gassing off' as quickly as usual (this has happened to me:unsure:) - OR was it cold, this may also slow things down allowing it more time to attack the paint - just a few more things to think about:lol:. Pete
  17. Thanks Dave, I now know what you ,mean, I recently saw I was 100% full too, so I deleted quite a few pictures but nowhere near as many as you, hope you get them back, a lot of history there. Pete
  18. Dave - am I missing something here/? I can't see any pictures. Pete
  19. Sorry, must have had a 'mans' look - I also just noticed Antonio wants unglued blanks. Pete
  20. Gee they don't want much on Flea Bay?? Try China where they come from, 30- 40- 50 cents if you buy by the 100 -500. I think the 'sammy' was $9 ea, from memory I bought some off "Preditor BB" for about $1 ea. Pete
  21. Mark - Yes, but it might be a bit big --- I used the nylon chopping board as it was easy to turn down in my 'Drill Lathe ' ' - I t slipped a bit (because of the old belt) but I just added a jockey wheel. To work out the gearing, I think a 'Ratio and Proportion' sum would do it.????????????? Pete
  22. Dave/ CLM- I have recently tried this!! I decided having two separate motors, one for my rod lathe and one for a drying wheel was taking up a bit too much bench space, so I hooked up a rotisserie motor up to the rod lathe via a couple of pulleys. I can now use the rotisserie motor as a lure turner and also for turning epoxy on rod bindings or slip the belt onto the higher speed motor for doing bindings, seems to work OK so far. The bought rotisserie motors when pulled apart are only microwave motors with a flash cover. For pulleys, I just turned down some plastic chopping board, but as Dave says ply discs would be good/better. I will see if I can get a picture today. Pete

    Blues

    Bloody superb Vince... Pete
  24. Don't mention 'Spring' Ben, it's finally arrived here, it's show time, 8 months of 'fishing frustration' ahead FOR US - all those new lures I was going to make will have to wait until next winter. Pete
  25. Think on the bright side KB, you now probably have a 3 RPM motor for drying lures, or turning your rotisserie on the Bar B Q. Pete
