  1. Diemai- twenty years back they called it Communism, now we all have it.pete
  2. That BriteBak looks pretty good, IMO more a natural silver than some chrome finishes, a bit like comparing sterling silver to chrome, I think it's a different more natural 'flash' . I will have to try and get some here and try it, maybe FleaBay!! pete
  3. Very nice KF- From this distance they looked like relief carvings at first.pete
  4. It's reality here and has been for about 4 years. It's amazing the amount power of these minorities have on whatever they decide to patronise - their real power comes from that huge majority saying nothing. pete
  5. KF, is that mural one of yours, nice one who ever??? And what is that guy on the left with the funny hat doing, is that a paint can if front of him/?????.pete
  6. Rookie- sounds like a good idea but it has not rained here in 9 years, can't afford to spit.pete
  7. At the risk of being bashed by KF -----------the house painters here use retarder all summer in their w/b acrylic house paint, and I will bet my lefty that what they use in W/B is PVA glue. It looks like it, smells like it, and sticks like it, so mix a bit with a blob of water, then mix it with your paint and see what happens, I know it makes paint flow off a brush / roller like oil, and this is what you want when spraying, not a heap of microscopic dry hard bumps. I might have to get my microscope out and take some pictures***##@@@!!!. I'm solely here to save you money .pete
  8. NAAAAAARRRRRR Rookie, they are made of plastic, china lures would sink like a brick.pete

    'Preditor' blank

Wow this is easy, just slap a bit of paint on, seal it and stick on some trebles and rings and it's right to go - I can see why 'The Rookie' does it this way, so quick and easy.?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!****- I bought about 5 of these to see what they are like (plus 30 others), cast great, great action, never caught anything, but then I only painted one to try.pete
  10. Thanks for the good wishes fellas - I don't feel anywhere near it, more like 50, hope I can keep this fantasy up for another 20.pete

    Wokshops

Nice workshop Dave, so clean and tidy----- I'm jealous.pete
  12. Dave - I am up in Queensland so I don't have access to my pictures BUT I had the same problem with the cutter when I was making 2" blanks years back. I was always going to go to a half round bit at the smallest diameter possible for your blank, but never had the money to buy one - I think a half round with 3 or 4 cutting edges (not 2) and made of carbon steel (not tungsten) as they are much sharper. Also if you can't get carbon steel cutters, you can sharpen the tungsten bits with a honing stone, honing along the flat (not the beveled cutting edge). I think I have mentioned before the Russian guy who used a saw blade with extreme angles on the cutting teeth, this was supposed to work well @ about 2.500 - 3,000 RPM - but this would not fit a router??? Love the 'Rocking Beam Duplicator", the thing that stands out for me is it is exactly the same as your original drawings, something I can never achieve - Rock On Baby..pete
  13. How about if you cast them standing up vertical instead of lying on their side, would this help to center the weight ??????????? OR am I over-simplifying it.pete
  14. Yardape- sounds to me (and others) like you have the Etex too thin from heating it maybe???. If the lure has flat sides and sharp corners, you get this resul t- go here and see pictures.pete http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/hard-baits/16131-keeping-flat-baits-flat.html
  15. Or here @ Au$34 (about U.S $30) - I have used two of them- (different name same brush) and there is a few little problems with them, nothing that can't be easily fixed though - I put a thread up somewhere on fixing them (in tools I think). Parts are also available from this "store". Get in quick though, the way the U.S dollars going, it will be cheaper to buy one here soon. If you buy through the Australian 'fleabay' site they should be cheaper -pete Heres the link to set them up.. http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/hardbait-how/16839-cleaning-repairing-your-airbrush.html
  16. Well Mr, have a look through this thread. Then show us where you are up to- http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/homebrew-tools/1-any-homemade-lure-making-machines.html.. Pete
  17. Nice job Trex, all you need now is a length of all thread rod and a 12v motor to drag the router along and you are in business--- Also don't forget to make the pattern follower the same diameter as the cutter (or the cutter the same as the follower) otherwise the blanks will turn out a lot different to the pattern. Keep us posted with some pics.pete
  18. Mav - Are your blanks assembled or still in pieces?? Just wondering, as I ordered a heap last week, and hoping they are still in bits.pete
  19. Wood and coating failure (MDF) @ 10 X - under two new coats of Envirotex. [/img] Black pupil with gold pearl surround @ 60 X [/img]
  20. I got a new toy, an up to200 times microscope to play with so here is some pictures of this lure magnified-- Tackleunderground Home - Luremakers Photo Gallery - zig zagger ???????? Pearl spots and air bubbles @ 10X [/img] Pearl spots @ 60X [/img] ..Pete
  21. Or put 2 coarse blades side by side in your hacksaw, this should be about 1/8" - I often do this to cut screw slots..pete
  22. If you heat PVC pipe with a heat gun you can clamp it in a vice or something and it will cool flat and rigid, just heat one end and you can still have the curved lip!! - I'm always flattening PVC out to make 'no rust' brackets for your boat etc etc, it's very strong and workable. If you want to make a large flat sheet just split the pipe, heat it up and roughly flatten it , place it between 2 pieces of ply, heat again and weight it for a minute and you can have a 1' square perfectly flat sheet to play with.pete
  23. There was a Japanese site on here somewhere that supplied all the bits, all you need to do is stick the wood etc together, but you have to paint them yourself which may be a problem.pete

    rattle minnow

Yes very nice design and great stencilling/photo/paint work, love the colours.pete
  25. Sinyo - looks great, I know you guys in Indonesia have been making these for a while now -- Do you paint the lips or just leave them white. Also, I sincerely hope you, your family and friends have been spared all the tragedies in Indonesia lately, our thoughts are with all of you.pete
