Looks pretty good to me, you have done what everyone else does in reverse, who needs an airbrush when you can foil and scale it in one go. I know Vince ('Fatfingers') had a bit of a fad on 'leafing', but I don't think he done any like yours. Fade a bit of opaque paint over the leaf, (seal the leaf first) and no telling what masterpiece you could come up with. pete

Can anyone recommend a supplier of some good blanks (4 - 8lb med,to med F, and fittings) about 6'-7', I want to make a couple of bream / Trout sticks. Of course must be able to mail order to Australia. TIA.pete

Diemai- Sometimes I think you must live next door to me. About three weeks back I bought the same hinges (aeroplane flaps), but they are nylon/plastic. They have been sitting on the bench since, and every now and then I pick them up and play with them - they also have a drawbacks, the pin is a bit too tight, and I'm not sure I want to muck around inserting a narrower pin, also doubt weather these would hold up in cold water which would make the plastic more brittle. I like your determination, and work with these brass ones, and looks like it will work, size is always a problem, and I am still mucking around with the DNA hinges, which have a myriad of small problems, but am getting there. Keep up the good work and keep us posted on how they work.pete

I caught a largish 'flathead' last week (about 4 -5lb), the netter and I were congratulating ourselves when we noticed a smaller flat head (about 1/2 lb) hanging on the hook and on the outside of the net - it appears the larger was trying to eat the smaller and got his gill rakes and spikes tangled in the line, which was wrapped around both gills, we kept him and let the little guy go.pete

Try at your local 'Archery Store' - look for 'Camo Netting', it's very supple/soft and moulds around most curves, also has a very small scale pattern, not sure weather this is the 'diamond' pattern you are looking for though. This is white pearl over white, on a 80mm (3-1/4" lure). pete

That's a shame Milia, I have about nine 6-8 footers and three 10-12' beach/rock rods. I went up to Queensland for two weeks fishing last year, and took four short rods, sat on the bow of the boat waiting for some mullet to get trapped, and snapped 3 tips - just proves, you have to 'Be Prepared'. As for lures, I have boxes of salt, and boxes (I mean boxes) of fresh, 'So many lures, so little time'. It sometimes gets a bit confusing. pete

I can't get the link up to see the particular lure, but if I want a really fine line I use a piece of cotton thread (not polyester). Dampen the thread, dip the end in your thinned colour and drag the cotton along the surface, it's a bit like a mini 'pin lining' brush, you can get very fine lines this way. We used to use this method (and others) to pinstripe surfboards in a past life.pete

Just remember Jamie, the two exit holes should be apx 3/4 the size of the one entrance hole if you want the incoming volume to pass through - i.e, a hole twice the size has four times the area/volume.pete

If it's flat, knock off your wife/daughter's hair straighter, dial it up to 160C (not sure in Fahrenheit) and bend away - it turns to butter at this temp.pete
