  1. I bought a 100gm electronic scale on 'FleaBay' for A$18 (US $12.60), best investment I have made in lure making, you can weigh blanks, ballast, split rings, hooks, or etex, pour part A in and double the weight with part B and even I can't go wrong.pete
  2. jimbo - I once swapped (just to check it out) my Iwata cap to a cheapo and it was the same thread, maybe the tip is the same.pete
  3. Bruce, that's pretty impressive, I saw one of these (Missouri) out here a few years back, also would have loved to have seen the Yamamoto etc (not shooting at me). This is also pretty impressive, shot a ball 40 Km (24 ml). Jaivana cannon: World's biggest ever wheeled cannon Pete

    check this out

Dave - from what I have seen of cricket (a few test matches), it's as much the cricket as the band, compared to others, it's a very odd laid back game, even at England V Australia test level. I think I saw Botham /Boycott playing in the 'Centenary Test' in Melbourne, very entertaining, AND we won (just).pete
  5. Here's a link to a 'Iwata' supplier here- Airbrushes We have a few tariffs, duties etc and Japan is as close to here as there, so why are they so expensive?? some A.H is making a killing. You can see why 'FleaBay' is so attractive for the cheaper copies. I do have a H.P which is about 35 y.o, and can still blast some paint, so I do think they are a quality tool, just can not come at paying around $300++++ for a new one. pete
  6. It's bit hard to see the colour (pic size), but I think I would mix a dull green with a little black and thin it down (add some matte base to bind it), and then spray several layers, until you get the colours you want, or as others have said, maybe mix 'Tamiya Opaque', smoke and green, which may also take a few coats- all this over maybe a dull cream/eggshell base. Always sounds easy?????????????????pete

Hi Paul, try searching "Devcon 2 Ton", its a 2 part epoxy glue.pete
  8. Thanks Pro, I thought I had lost all that (Micro Pic Viewer) when I reloaded XP months back. You only have to look!!pete
  9. Yeah Phil, then an hour ago I came across the CNC machines.pete
  10. I have been using "Photoscape' , has many tools. Photoscape : Free Photo Editing Software Download - it's free ware, just downsize and crop your pic to about 1200 x 800 and load to 'Photobucket', then upload to TU.pete
  11. One of these: [/img] Drill a tight vertical hole and shove it in. See how clean mine is!!pete
  12. Mark - I have been using one of those screw on, pointy plastic nozzles you get with the tubes of silicone (tubes not gun cartridges). I just drilled a hole in the bench, stuck the nozzle in and filled it with den- alcohol, push the tip in (threads hold it there) , and any paint would be dissolved by the alcohol, can't see why you could not use water windex etc - pull it out, give the brush a quick squirt to blow out the droplets of cleaner and it is right to go. Lately I have been leaving it there until next use, as when the nozzle is jammed in there there is little evaporation and you know the needle will not be jammed with dried up paint residue or something. I am at work, otherwise I would post a picture.pete
  13. I think you may be amazed, as good as these look, if you covered the bluegill etc with a good thick coat of D2T or whatever you use, all those suttle colour variations would jump into life and add another dimension.pete
  14. Thanks all, it's just so time consuming finding centres, especially when you have started to make a lure, and forget to do it. Like I said, if you do it in a stick, it saves heaps of time and you only have to remember it once (this is becoming a real problem lately). I just hope it works for you!! Sometimes I think I must be really bored to fiddle with this stuff - sometimes they work some times they don't.pete
  15. Bullet - its all evolving here, (and in other places). pete http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/homebrew-tools/15114-lure-make-machine-mdi_bizum-lures.html or here http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/homebrew-tools/1-any-homemade-lure-making-machines.html
  16. As BobP says on longer lips you may get a bit off flex with 'flat' thin Poly, but you could make a slight bend down the centre line and this should give it rigidity. To bend it see post #7 http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/hard-baits/11055-bending-lexan.html I usually use 1mm (1/24") and this stands up to being belted around on the bottom, in fact I think it's flexabilit may save them from a few dings. Having a bend down the middle, you could also glue it into the lure, concave up or down, which would change the action and depth of an identical lure. pete
  17. Heres another one, not quite the effect of airbrushed, but gives a pretty cool pattern. Have a look in my 'Gallery', there is a few different colour variations there. pete http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/hard-baits/2603-hard-bait-cookbook-4.html

  19. Any of you Northern Hemispherers see this, pretty bright and pretty special. pete Moon and stars smiling - Yahoo!7 News
  20. Same here Daemai, $18 -$35 each (for 2-3"), last time I looked, they had them all in a locked display case?? I must say the finish is usually second to none, but I don't know about their durability though. This is how they have taken over the car industry, and anything else - attention to detail.pete

    Copper jerkbait/glider

diemai- we will see what happens, they work in the bath tub!!! To weight them neutral + or slow sinking, I add a 1/4" brass spinner blade to the rear treble, which also gets a little flutter when jerked - but the proof is in the bottom of the lake, where Mr Trout lurks, and has to be tricked??pete
  25. John- Thanks for sharing your techniques, seems to be quite rare lately - lots of wanting and selling, but not much giving. pete
