  3. Phil, I like the bit about blowing CO2 into the back of the hair dryer, just don't get your lips too close to the intake ! !pete
  4. 76gator - I have a 'puck' of DN which dried up in a jar, part of it is a thin film (.01mm thick) where it was up the side of the jar. This set DN is probably a year old, and you can not tear/break the thin film, it's as clear as the day it was set, and still very flexable - if this was epoxy it would shatter like glass. pete
  5. Clemmy- I think you're right there. pete
  6. Microwave motors are easy, slip into your neighbours place, roll the oven on it's side or back - two screws on the small bottom cover, also hold the motor, remove them and motor and replace oven - open the door and grab the turntable thingy (has the right keyway for motor). This all would take 2 minuites, with no sign of foul play in the microwave. Or you could just get the motor from your wife/partners oven and wait until she starts complaining about it being broken (now her fault) - she will have to buy a new one - Then you discreetly remove the plastic turntable for later use - Don't remove the turntable until she has given up and "unbonded' from the oven, otherwise she will suspect something. I'm single and do not have these problems. pete SOMETIMES you have to think outside the 'Microwave'

  10. Before you do that seal it, and drop it in some water, you need to get the orientation right. That slope on the front could be 90deg out - because it's made of wood, it will have an uneven weight distribution (density), floating it will show where the heaviest part (bottom) should be. As mark says, stick some hooks etc on, and give it a burl. With a bit of luck, you may already be close. Anyway this is a good way to learn heaps of basic stuff -Keep us posted. pete
  11. Check out the tutorials section, there is one by 'Fatfingers' on etex. pete
  12. LBH, -finally managed to log in, great restore, and love the colour/signing. pete
  13. Max, sounds good to me, if you can't do what Swede suggested, that should work. You could also cut both ends off a clear 'bubble float', which might give you the disc and the stem all in one- let us know how whatever you do works.pete
  14. Max - I just came across your reply, if you look in the Tutes under 'Jiga Jig', there is something which may be of interest. pete
  15. A much neglected form of moulding anything, is the ‘ lost wax process’, where the pattern is made of wax - bees wax, or any wax which is a bit harder (candle wax is a bit soft and crumbly). This, depending on the media used for the negative mould, will give you a perfect duplicates - it’s been around for thousands of years, and what you carve in the wax, is what you get. How’s it work?? You make/carve the pattern from wax, pour your 2 part silicone POP or whatever mould, let it set, put it in the oven and the wax melts and runs from the mould, leaving a perfect mould cavity of your original pattern. Pour your lead, resin, foam or whatever media you want to use. Make sure if you are going to pour lead that the mould is dry, and somewhat heated, maybe get a torch, and burn the residue wax off the mould before use (especially POP). I was once in a past life a moulder, and have done a bit of this, and if it needs to be perfect this should work .Pete
  16. Shane8stud. As you can see here there are many ways to skin a cat, but one basic rule, which sounds obvious is, always go light to dark, rarely the other way round and usually start with white or a very light colour. Start with layers of your lighter colours and build on top of these gradually going to darker colours- this goes for fading the same colour as well, so for your blue bottom, fading to the sides, you would do the side with one light coat and as you move to the bottom, you would build to a more solid colour just by adding more layers (dry between layers). Another way of getting a lighter hue (for w/b acrylics) of the same colour is to water it down and then mix in some 'medium' (matte is best), this replaces the binder (makes it stick) you have removed when watering it down and also makes the colour more transparent. By doing many light coats you can gradually change colours, for instance, a light coat of red over blue will get you a light purple, add another light layer of red and you will get maroon - red over yellow gets orange spray a bit of black and get brown. Play with it on a scrap piece of white PVC water pipe .pete

My apologies for not replying, I read your message and then lost it, or to be more precise, did not know where to look.

Yes I could make you a 'Jijg a Jig' - cost would be nil, except maybe you could return a lure. If you still are interested please PM or email me.

the plastic 'dog clip' would not be included, as I can not find any here. pete

  24. I think Philb sprays this (amongst others), maybe give him a PM.pete
