Ferg- I think you are being a bit hard on yourself there - Like BobP says, fish are not into pretty or ugly, they are into food. pete

Sometimes a thank you (especially to PM's), would be nice, but if this is not forthcoming, it's (to me) a good indication, they are only interested in their own gain, and there is a sucker born every minute - If they did reply, they may be afraid you will want some information in return. I call them 'Black Holes', heaps of information in, none out. There is a guy who posts pictures, on a lot of different forum, breezes in and out, showing off his latest color scheme, BUT NEVER, NEVER answers, PM or Posts - egocentric , I suppose you would call it - saying all this, 'Black Claw' certainly comes up with some excellent techniques/colors.pete

Diemai - What do you do with those carp, eat them???????? They are in plague proportions here (like rabbits) and usually if they are caught, the are left on the bank, for pigs etc (they taste like mud). They are undermineing the river banks here, and are destroying the native fish habitat at an alarming rate. In the larger rivers they are netted and canned for pet food (that's when the rivers have water). pete

KBC - not sure if you read the promo on the site BUT - " is a completely private system; it calls you directly & talks to you in a friendly female voice. It also sends a back up SMS. Alerts include events such as intruder, ignition on, exceeding the over-speed threshold, and low battery. Simply call your eziTRAK at any time, to immobilize, obtain information relating to location, nearest cell site reference, distance from home base or last parking position." Check this out - with one of these you don't need any insurance, just a baseball bat. They have been around for a while now and there is a new one for boats etc. See "EziTrak Micro". or Google, Ezitrak. Ezitrak Pete

Well done Dave, never done this, it's all a mystery to me, but your tute certainly has opened my eyes. Well done, especially with one hand. pete

Hi Phil- I will second that, I could not imagine half the U.S population sitting on the edge of a lake with those weird 20'+ 'Coarse Fishing' poles, firing corn with a slingshot, out into the lake either - This type of fishing is becoming more popular here too, can't imagine me having the patience, something you poms are renowned for. Virgin Airlines are opening up a route to the US @about $1200, which is about 1/2 what I paid, might make it again. pete

Gonna be a busy winter for "StoneCoal Tackle"
hazmail replied to StoneCoal Tackle's topic in The Docks
Daymon. Last night, I was wondering what happened, to you and ''the house", thought you must have 'broke away' and went fishing. Love your work and the pictures, keep them coming. The way it's going, the house warming should be about next May, just in time for the 2009 TU meet- see if you can get me an invite, with a bit of luck, I may have a few made by then. pete -
I now have a collection of Microwave motors, from 2.5 rpm up to about 6 rpm. I purchased a couple off FleaBay (about $4) and scrounged the others off mates reject Micros, takes about 30 seconds to remove them from the bottom of the oven. They all have heaps of torque, just remember to grab the indexed plastic wheel with the rollers, from inside the oven, this will make it easier to attach to your wheel. pete

While building some shelves in the shed, a mate pulled out some of this glue, I had never heard of it (eyes wide shut), it seems pretty impressive, is anyone using it to join through wire halves etc - Supposed to be "water resistant" what do you think? pete
-
Do you need some new 'Deep Cycle' batteries? Buy them now, lead is going through the roof, apparently China and India are buying it all, and using it for solar, or selling it back as batteries. pete

Where do you live Jim, sounds like the same price as here (Aus), It's a bloody scandal what they can charge and get away with it- we pay $12.60 for a syringe of D2T here, I send to Perth (2000 miles away) for it, I could probably get it in cheaper from US, 14000 miles away. pete,

I would like to try and put it all in perspective, we don’t know how good we have it. Anything we buy here is just about double what you guys pay there, and for Phil in the UK it's probably tripple, fuel here is now $7.82 a gallon, but compared to most places, it's cheap. – I know I don’t earn double, whatever a fireman in the US earns, and Phil certainly would not earn triple. I drove to Queensland last week to pick up a boat, cost me $600 in fuel (in a 4 cylinder car). Granted, I am single and don’t have the costs of some, with a wife and a couple of kids, but I did, and still managed to go fishing 2 or three times a month (probably why I’m single). TU is not my whole life, but has become a large part of it. In the short time I have been on here, both on line, and in person, I have met quite a few, what we would call ‘genuine people’; ready to help with their ‘secrets’ and knowledge, gained over years of hunting/fishing. Here (in Au), I get sick of talking to people who idolize some pro fisherman, who says ‘X’ brand lure is the only one to use. They believe him every time he comes up with a new one, and shell out $15 or $20, just so they can say to their mates ‘Starlo’ or ‘Bushy’ use these – They are usually crap imported from China, don’t work, and probably have mark ups of 500%, they happily pay this, yet in the next breath complain about beer going up 4 cents a schooner. For those that say, “why should I pay $60 a year when I can get it for free“, nothing is FREE. The Wild World Web appears to be, but every time we click on something .00001 of a cent is paid to somebody, and when we buy anything, the sting is added on. I am sure you know Jock Strap (World all time Bass Champion), gets his boat, sonar, batteries, outboard, rods, lures and probably jocks, for endorsing these products. Every time I/we buy one of these same products, the company has added a percentage to pay Jock Strap, (and his hangers on), so who is paying for Jock to have fun, and fish, ‘big note’ himself, and coincidentally, making a pretty good living at it – you and me. I just paid US$2,300 for a 54lb Minn Kota, 2 batteries and charger, add it up, how much are these there? It costs about US$3000 to fly from here to there, by the time I pay taxes etc, how much from there to here? I know your economy (and ours) is currently in a death spiral, to where the rest of the planet already is, welcome to the real world, where you pay for what you get, and everything is NOT subsidized (or endorsed). I think we still have 4 choices here, 1. Sell/shut down TU. 2. Let Jerry pay for it. 3. Indirectly pay $60 a year when you buy something that is advertised in the ‘side bar’. 4. Or pay TU $60 a year. I think I have a conscience, so for me the first 3 are not really an option - I would rather just send the $’s, even if it’s US$60, it’s about A$64.20 here. At 50/50, I don’t envy Jerry, having to make this decision ! ! Pete

It's getting dark here, and I missed the poll totals, last time I looked (this morning I think) it was 50/50 - what was the end result? pete

Here's another one, apparently they were made here -does this mean Woodie boats are the drug runners??? Hydrive - Homepage. Somewhere on the site, they say they have, just fitted out a boat with 4 x 350 Hp Yamaha V8's - for trolling???pete

All you guys into SKIRTS, I have some second hand, FLURO pink crocks I can sell, cheap. pete

NAT - Very 'Brazilian', if you will pardon the expression. It seems that different parts of the lure making world, have a distinct difference in color preference (here it's fluro). There is a guy in Brazil (Kazan) who uses these very light hues, beautiful lures (in my humble opinion), as are yours , keep at it. pete

If you do a search, (and have heaps of time) there is a link somewhere in here to an article by 'someone' about all the idiosyncrasies of various lips. Sorry I cannot supply you with the link, I usually keep them filed, but can't find it. Try searching 'Lip shape' and see what comes up, it was at least 6 months back. Also sorry I cannot remember his name, getting old. My apologies. pete

Any lure retriever I know of, requires a near vertical line. So unless you are fishing really deep water and close to the bank!! Sorry but all I could recommend is these stylish Gum Boots. pete

Gee Gerry, you must have some neat machines in that workshop!! Welcome to www.goodwincustom.com. The question I was going to ask was, do you know where to get stainless (lockable) turntable bearings?? Hang in there. Pete -
Site Expansion & the future of TU (Poll)

Count me in Gerry, and thank you and all the back room boys for your efforts. I don't envy you, trying to get money, when we have had it all for free. I love all the improvements over the past few months, some how, it has all become very compact, and easier to navigate, especially when you have a dodgy mouse like me. I'm thinking if users have to pay, then maybe 'PayPal', 'BillPay' would be an asset. It gets up my nose too, when you know some guys are picking brains, and adding nothing but more questions, just so they can sell us back our own ideas - but that's how the world goes round - I have a big mouth and hate keeping secrets. Good luck with it, I have been promoting it here, so you may get a few more Aussies with shallow pockets. I was going to email you today, and ask about something (forgot what), maybe I will be able to get it back tomorrow!!pete
