  1. I have never seen one of these, but have heard heaps of good reports on them, not cheap, but may have to get one. See a report below. pete Fishnet | Library
  2. Dieter I have just been reading your mammoth post. In answer to 'LaPalas' comment about our (Australian) fixation with banana lures, this probably has more to do with the main fish being targeted, ie, Murray Cod, which like slow, wide, loud lure action. I have had several attempts at making a lure similar to your 'banana' over the years, but have always found, as with 'Flatfish', they are really speed sensitive and hard to tune - love your work and tenacity in keeping at it, these, for me anyway, are the hardest lures to get anywhere near right. Here is another famous/legendary lure of this type, I found a couple in the shed, they come in sizes from about 70mm to 200mm and dives to about 30', they shake so hard/. p, you can nearly hear them coming.pete
  3. Dave. If you were still married, you could throw the mold to the wife while she is sitting in a vibrating massage chair, just saw one at the local mall (chair that is) This should work. pete
  4. I have tried to foiling (Mylar) solid 3

For water based acrylic, mix 'Matte' or 'Gloss Acrylic Medium' and the color pigment you want, then mix with a bit of water, or preferably, Windex, to dilute to the right consistency - Matte is best, as it allows any color/finish which is added later to easily adhere to this layer. pete
  8. I have had a couple in the last 6 months, but not from buddah. This chick wants us to read a half finished novel and comment on it (or something). She must have read some of my rambling tutorials, and thought I was an editor or something??. I deleted. pete

Wecome back Kazan, beautiful lures as usual, I always love seeing your stuff. pete
  10. Sorry to hear this, it seems that it has been raining in that area for months. Same here, but the opposite, have not had decent rain for 6 years and they are now long range forcasting another couple of years of drought. It seems, that it is always the farmers who cop the brunt of flood or drought, and you have to admire their perseverence and strength in these bad times, I would just walk away, but of course it is not as easy as that, when it's in your blood. Like you guys are saying, the economic repercussions from this just goes on and on, which again hits the farmers. pete
  11. J- great looking fish, where's the lure (we all want to copy it). Nothing like getting one, on your own lure, but that is a beauty - We are all students here. pete
  12. diemai- for a first attempt, you certainly have jumped in the deep end, jointed lures, would have to be the hardest. You certainly seem to have the tools and from what you have here, all the skills. Your lure looks like it will work, and if they look like that, there is a good chance they will. Anxious to see the finished lure. pete
  13. Thanks Jerry, looking forward to it. pete
  14. Go to 'Site Announcements. there is a thread "Free Component Catalog" there. pete

svartzonker - very nice selection of lures and colors, you will be avalanched with "how did you fix the tails" soon. Great work .pete
  16. Dave- Blades, big blades.(that's what they are here anyway) Kane -Bruce (Spike a Pike) does some nice big blades, he may be able to help you.Pete
  17. Wow Kane, first post in two and a half years!! Don't know where you come from, or live, but they are all over the banks and trees in Eucumbene Dam, it's like Christmas up there - the dam is down to about 8%. pete
  18. No worries Bruce, and it will spare me having to one finger type it again. Thanks again, for that pete
  19. Mark I have already posted something like this, but could not find it, so done another, more comprehensive one. I have tried to foiling (Mylar) solid 3
  20. We/ I have heard nothing about this (unusual), what's happening??? pete
  21. Mark -I did not do a tute on it, it's a bit fiddly holding a contact glued piece of mylar, and a camera at the same time, if you know what I mean!! But I think I may have posted something, I will have a look today (your tonight). pete
  22. Maybe it would be simpler to make them sinking with an air bladder built in!! (just like the fish do). Some of those lures you guys build would accommodate a 'small' condom. I am just visualizing guys on the bank with thermometers, blowing up their lures for the day (Nitrogen would be better). Remember the submarines we had when kids, that took a puck of bicarb soda which made CO2 gas, up she came and down she went. A small air bag and a syringe, may be the solution (until the water heated up). A lot of this is in jest, but this is another angle that fish use for neutral buoyancy, and you can not beat mother nature for ingenuity. This, I feel has at the very least, got Dave thinking, (he has probably already tried it). Love this brainstorming stuff, and all these practical solutions offered. pete
  23. OR, just put a 'T' piece (or diverter valve) in your existing line, run it to a separate regulator/drier, and connect your brush hose here. All these fittings are readily available THERE, and if your tank is big enough (2-3 cub feet), there is enough air to keep you going for about 1/2 hour or so at 20psi. This way you have the best of both worlds with one compressor. Noise may annoy you in the long run though - I now have 2 compressors, as the neighbors don't appreciate the big one kicking in at 10 at night. pete
  24. Pikie- these are only 80mm long and with tat lip , would only go to about 6 -8'. With the lip reversed, they go to 15'. pete
  25. Yes, but how would they stop it, on what part of the shore would they stand waiting???.pete
