  1. Kevin70- the windsheild wiper fluid would have some detergent in it and some spirit to stop it freezing, this is why it works. Imagine if someone asked you to pay $3 for something called "One pint of water and 3 drops of detergent", you would tell them where to stick it. pete
  2. Sorry , can't resist- there is plenty of Lacquer thinners around, but not many virgins. pete
  3. Phil - what have I done??? released a monster!!!! Mix 'Windex', or detergent/water with acrylics. Use Methylated Spirit to dilute Tamiya, as I think I said, methylated spirits is a good stripper/cleaner for acrylics, not a thinner. I hope you did not ruin anything other than the paint. I had better read that post again and sort it. pete
  4. Thanks guys, sorry if I rambled on a bit (just re-read it), but I'm a typical Aussie skeptic. I can't stand these people who put some perfume and vinegar in a fancy bottle, call it 'shower cleaner', and add 1000% to the price. pete
  5. Have a look at this guys shop on "ebay dot com", very quick and reliable and a fraction of what you guys are paying, for a change - see here: http://stores.#########.au/Princess-Trade-Australia Pete
  6. Husky - great tutorial, simple and to the point, great results with the lure also. pete
  7. Bruce- I have just been reading the tennis match between Phil and Swede on 'Coloring Propionate Sealer'- this may solve all your problems and combine it into one 'system'. pete
  8. Bruce - You know how to 'lube' someone- I am assuming you are talking about the "plastic drink cups technique". As I said Phil and I do, BUT we are having problems finding the right plastic for him, other than the drink cups (which are not in wide use here). There were heaps of posts on this,(drink cups). I am just thinking, what I have used (various yogurt containers) and what is available there, may be entirely different, i.e, U.S recycle codes, standards for food containers etc (do you eat yogurt in U.S?), this is why I have never posted anything on it - but if everything lines up, no problem. pete
  9. pete - very sharp work and excellent result. can't help with the wire twist, but some of these pliers look interesting. Just thinking , can you twist the wire first and slide a large 'split shot' down along the wire - do you fill with molten lead or just bogg? pete

    Carp II

    Yake - WOW, excellent. pete
  11. Massacre Bait Co. Looks like you would want a high end brush - whatever brand you get, get one that looks like this. I have 4 brushes and this one is .3mm and by far the best. Also see pic on how to soup it up, this pic is from another post. Pete
  12. sawman- I have a 2 stroke that smokes on startup too, electronic injection probably gives it more oil when cold and it wont burn it efficiently when cold anyway. That's my 2 bobs worth, by the way mine is a 30h.P, slight difference. This site may help though : http://www.themarinedoctor.com/cgi-bin//YaBB.pl pete
  13. Phil- If you look through those addresses I P.M you a few months ago on propionate there is one on recycled plastic - yogurt cups. This works, not quite as hard as genuine prop but it's white, sands easily and takes paint -just make sure they are the right 'recycle' code. pete
  14. I can hear Vodkaman in Malaysia, shuffling through his manuals and papers , even from here. pete

    round bodies

Yes , I bet they SHAKE - beautiful paint work and great finish.pete
  16. Chris- great idea, this could take a while there are so many parameters here, anyway you have me (and Dave) thinking. For what it
  17. Hey Bruce, where do I get that "skirt" material from, is it a fly tying accessory or art shop find???? I have a few lures with it on, but have never been able to find it. pete
  18. There used to be (and probably still is) a film used on overhead projectors, which you could copy color onto, from a word doc etc. This may be handy, although a bit thick, I'm sure you could get it in thinner sheets, it may be the same stuff redg8r is talking about. pete
  19. Dave - Love to see someone making something out of nothing, I spent years going to the post office weighting coins so I could make a balance, to weigh my little 7 gm lures - I have now hit the big time, and bought a little electronic scale ($18), don't know how I got by without it. Great detailed work here. Smirkplug- does this mean a $1000 note weighs 1 kilogram?????pete
  20. Phil - good link, there's heaps of info here. pete
  21. Eric - all very nice, I particularly like the shape of the blue ones. pete
  22. hazmail
