    Paint Types

I use whatever I think looks good- trouble is, I never know when to stop. Keep it simple. pete
  4. Try a bit of lighter fluid, on a clean rag (bed sheet), don't use old 'T Shirts' etc, I have just found that the antiperspirant residue has silicone, aluminum oxides, oils etc, in it - L/Fluid cleans away pig fat and should not effect w/b acrylic. pete
  5. QB7deepsea - see posts here, they may be helpful. pete http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/showthread.php?p=86170#post86170

    what psi?

pikester - I have four brushes, an old Iwata, still going (over 30 yrs), an Aztec (for rough stuff) and two cheapies from ebay, all double action gravity feed. I bought the brush pictured about 9 months ago on ebay NEW (@ ebay Australia) for A- $36 about U.S-$30 and they are still on there, it’s probably made in China, but it is my best, very adjustable and after “hotting it up” is by far the most versatile. I run it at between 20-25lb and adjust it up/down at the air screw at the tip. I have sprayed a little with thinners based enamels etc, but would expect at this price it would not have a ceramic seal, so I am not going to push it. Great for W/B and Tamiya ethanol based acrylics. For a starter, I highly recommend them. Pete
  7. huck - I bet you can see the possibilities here, you're gone. pete
  8. Arrive Clinton 24th April, depart Clinton around 31st, depart U.S - 21st May.Pete
  9. Kribman - Don't even think about it, it's a no contest. Its no fun trying to remove a snapped lip, cold water and sunlight really harden plexiglass (read brittle hard). Get it right first go and use poly if you can get it. pete
  10. &DRE - have a look on the main forum page, at the bottom there are a heap of MST's (member submitted tutorials -about 40 I think) there, have a read and if these doesn't satisfy your curiosity, start asking, this is a good place to start, if you print them all off, they would make a decent book. pete

benton B- maybe tough to paint, but very neat, fine work. Great looking paint. pete
  14. Well I cleared one (D2t) and and got a 3.16 % increase in weight, so thought just to get an average, I cleared another and got 2.2% increase in weight - like Dave says, hardly worth considering. Sorry for the delay but decided to do the two for science - and running out of Devcon fast. pete
  15. Shawn - where do you got to fish in Thailand, I have been there twice and never thought of doing any fishing - Maybe next time i could have a go. pete

    Reverse Shrimp

Shrimp, how they should be, backwards- smaller lip to slow down action, and depth, neutral weight @ about 14 gms, 3", wood. pete
  17. Jim - put a short length of drinking straw or PVC tube, over your tip, play around with the air pressure and you will get 'spatter' .:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:Pete
  18. Being new here, I am probably sticking my neck out, but I go along with benton B, when I get stuck, or don’t understand something, like ‘what’s a muskie’, I will then ask. If we all jumped in first post asking how to build something, we would still be trying to invent the wheel, innovation does not come from copying. I truly admire the guys in places like Romania, who have little in components, and probably no means of getting them, language difficulties (how many of us can speak two languages), yet they still manage to do some great work – through thinking around it, recycling and using whatever comes to hand, just to get a job done and go fishing. Sorry if I have offended anyone, but sometimes we just have to help ourselves, I could go on but I won't. pete
  19. Thai....................... I'm being a smart A tonight.pete
  20. Have to tell you all a story- Easter is big here, with the kids and the EASTER BUNNY thing, chocolate Easter Eggs, public holiday, long weekend and all. Last Time I was over there, it was around Easter- driving down some back road in Oklahoma (I think) and here's this sign on the side of the road "For Sale -Easter Bunnies- skinned", my 12 year old daughter was horrorfied. You guys would have a ball here, some years, they are in plague proportions, the hills just move with them, and are a farmers nightmare. pete
  21. Mark Webber-----------well I have to go for the Aussie, don't I. pete
  22. I am just about to do a first clear on a lure, so I will weigh it before and after and get you the % increase, apply second coat tomorrow and weigh again - this should be the apx % increase for any lure. Trouble is each coat is more volume in D2T, therefore more weight. pete
  23. Yes they look pretty good to me too, especially the last one.pete
