  1. Great idea and Hagen's are quick, even to here. pete
  2. BB- Like your set up, looks a lot like mine, except it is all in one place, what a good idea - looks like you do about 10 times the work I do though, with 1/10th the mess. pete

HellRAISER-love that shape, you must be using a microscope to do that, 1 1/4" amazing. pete

    Carp Glider

Pete- great job, I feel like I am looking through it. pete
  5. Good luck mate, it's going to be a steep learning curve. Sorry but I don't think you have time for this. 100 lures in a box, with a clear still curing-Don't be surprised if they all turn into one - I just spent two hours partially painting one and may be able to clear it tomorrow. Good luck with it and let us know how you go. pete
  6. I was going to copy Mark Poulson’s post, his words are exactly mine, except that I’m a Firefighter, but have dabbled in furniture and building for years. Yes I prefer wood too, maybe it’s just me, but no matter weather they are ‘no-name’s’ or Rapala’s, plastic just does not feel the same for me, either in my hand or in the water. I have tried cedar, balsa, pressed chip board, and have settled on Kauri pine which is a bit on the light side for my liking (can always weight it) but it’s quite hard, even grained and easy to work. Saying all this I would not mind trying some expanded PVC sheet. pete

    Shrimp (prawn here)

Thank's again guy's, I only hope they work. LaPala- If only it was that easy to clone them, the next one will probably be an entirely different color - it'sthe main reason I photograph them - still need to use the memory to get the colors though. Rookie- PM sent. pete
  10. Here is a good description with a "PDF" of properties: http://www.cityplastics.com.au/foampvc.html and another on how to work it: http://www.plasticsfactory.com.au/pvcfoam/pvcfoamsheets.asp Pete
  11. Dave - I was getting a bit out of my 'depth' there. I was trying to say the shorter the line, the greater the angle between the rod tip and lure, so the shallower it will go - I think. pete
  12. It seems to me that a trolled lure might take a minute or two to get to that depth and stay there because the line is still 50' out. A cast lure, when retrieved from 100' probably does not reach it's max depth by the time the line gets to 50' (depending on dive angle and the extra line drag)- by the time it reaches 50' the lure to rod tip angle is increasing , so you are starting to pull UP against the resisting lip(lure), at an ever increasing angle (to the water surface). Have you ever noticed when retrieving a lure to a boat, that the lure will go past the rod tip and under the boat, before turning and coming out of the water. The lures I am currently making will consistently hit bottom (15' to my suprise) at about 150' trolled, but casting them off the shore (nowhere near 150' unfortunately) I can retrieve it nearly to the bank where it would bottom out @ 4' where the rod tip to lure angle, would be about 90 deg.The lure maintains it's dive angle but because the tip to lure angle gets steeper, it is allways rising. Clear as mud?? Dave will give you the numbers. Best I can do. pete

    Threadfin shad

I'm tempted to copy it, put it on 'MS paint' an add a lip. pete
  14. Seems to be dead Dave, I have cut, copied, pasted, shortened, Googled, and no go, I will certainly have to have a look when it is back up. If you Google it there is a heap of links. pete

    Shrimp (prawn here)

An attempt at a shrimp copy, I have posted 2 pictures to show the 'Pearl effect'. Weighted to neutral, with a shallow lip, 3" and about 14gms. pete

  18. Dave - there was a post here this afternoon on a do dah that you hook on the line and it makes a lure plane sideways (like a planer board), called a BobBop or something. Apparently they have been around for a while, looked like a good idea. I suspect it was an ad rather than a post and has been removed. pete
  19. You guys explain this so logically, even I can understand it. Thanks pete
  20. Doug- love it, you have certainly put some work in here. It's not much point doing it by halves, we are only kidding ourselves (and our lungs). Great work, maybe you could post a tutorial on this!!! Saying all this I still have not built one, I open the shed door when I rarely spray!! I don't spray lacquers much, but have got some propionate I might give a whirl soon, so better get building. pete
  21. VMAXX - The drag on the line @ 100' is four times the drag @ 50' (I think) so this drag and accompanying bow in the line, lifts the lure higher in the water. pete
  22. Nice one KC, I would like to see that going. rossrods This may be what we are after: http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1223 Dave, I take this as a personal challenge, my next post will be in 12 months. pete
  23. Papajoe- there must be al lot of experiences in that 50+ head, looking forward to hearing some, welcome to our nightmares - only 60 days until I leave for the TU meet @Mo. pete
