  1. I have been using a micro wave motor (have 4 now) for about 9 months an still going strong, sometimes leave it on all night (coolest time here)- They have heaps of torque and the one I am using now is a 5-6 rpm model - never had more than 4 lures on it and as long as you balance the load, I think you could put a dozen 6" on it with no problems- I grab them every chance I get (cause I'm a hoarder) and they usually range from 2 to about 6 rpm, depending on the type of oven- or $4-$5 on eeeeBay. pete
  2. Oh my god, so blurry tidy- I'm going home. Will post my 'industrial area' soon. pete
  3. PikeMaster - congratulations and don't worry about it, SHE will tell you how. pete
  4. Very unusual 'prop' (for my eyes anyway) but can see it would be a good attractor, these guys seem to have some good /different ideas on props / blades - are they any good? pete
  5. Kc - maybe we will just see what develops, it' not rocket science anyway. I know what you mean about fabricating something out so someone elses nothing, I get as much fun out of this as I do making baits. Spike, it seems like forever (like a kid waiting for Xmas). I have most things sorted , just working on a hire car, hire is easy, the insurance is killing me (thieves) but you have to have it !! pete
  6. KC, I had been thinking, I have never operated a wood lathe anyway, so this would be a big problem. Any lathe type work I have done is with a sharpened end of a flat file and a lump of wood fitted in a drill chuck- very crude indeed, it works, but safety wise, not something I should be showing how to do.pete
  7. I know you must be flat out Bruce, but it just occurred to me , "power point" would be an easy way to add captions to pictures, and reduce text, are uploads of this possible/allowed? pete
  8. Nathan- After five days, on second thoughts- no I won't. pete
  9. Bruce, I had a look today and noticed you have spruced one of mine up considerably, looks very Pro. Great job on the whole section. Thanks mate. pete
  10. Take 2 Pictures, one side on and one plan view - Save it to your computer and open it with ' Microsoft Paint'- Using the 'Crop' tool cut away ends of picture to the end of your lure (save it). Click 'Image' on the top menu bar, then 'Resize', set size to Cm and scroll up or down until you get the sizes you want (save it) and then print it- if not quite the right size, open again and repeat, either enlarge or reduce. You can also use a 'Ratio and Proportion' formula, if you know how to do that- IT'S EASY - divide 15cm or 150mm by 19mm = 7.854. Then divide your required length- 100 mm by 7.854 = 12.732mm wide. A lure 10cm long would be 12.732 mm wide . pete
  11. Gee Spike you tidied that up, great job, it really shows when someone knows what they are doing. Thanks again pete
  12. 338muskie - Not as much work as freehanding each lure - there a few other ways too but you seem to have it covered with the razor knife and light table. I and probably 'cheesehead' are now wondering why you asked!!! pete
  13. Wayupnorth36 - As Mark said you can buy them any where, specialist woodworking tool shop would be best place to start and carbide is the way to go. pilot bearing follows the pattern. I used to do them in 2 or 3 passes ( in cedar). pete
  14. Kc - you have got me thinking now - how about 'blood/drip bags', tough and probably impervious to anything, have all the fittings - just another compatability test to run ???? I can see DN dialling now, as this (waste/cost) is my biggest reason for not using it. pete
  15. Kribman- There's all sorts of carvers here (Mainly fish), all you ever wanted to know, mainly from one guy - fcunderground.proboards.com Petehttp://fcuhttp://fcunderground.proboards80.com/index.cgi?fcundergroundndergrouhttp://fcunderground.proboards80.com/index.cgi?nd.proboards80.com/index.cgi
  16. I don't know where they come from to here (probably China) but I have seen anchors with better points, they have been no different for the past 15 years, (I'm talking trebles here). pete
  17. Vodkaman will be right onto this, hydrodynamics, pressure variation, vortexes, he's the man to tell us !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hang on to your hat and get out the calculator. pete
  18. PBB - Do a search, someone posted a great idea recently, where you open the can from the bottom , ie: punch a hole in it and decant from here and then screw in a sheet metal screw to seal it up. Best solution of any I can think of, is fill a wine cask bag, never get air in then- who can afford 2 litres of DN to try it though. pete
  19. Congratulations Mark, you're on your way, theres no turning back now.pete
  20. I let the paints properly set and dip it in "Shellite" (Petroleum Spirit), which is LIKE petrol (gas) without the addetives. This will not affect water based acrylics or any water based inks as alcohol will, that's why printers use gallons of it. pete
  21. OR you can make one of these and knock out 10 x 2
  22. I have been using this for years, (see Hazmail post) http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10621&page=4 No way would I put my little digits near a router, they do not know the difference between bone and wood and will keep eating. I only make 2" AND 3" baits but for larger baits, just make a larger sanding wheel, the most you can lose is a bit of skin, which, over the years, I have managed to avoid. pete
  23. Daymon- I am finding the differences (already) in how you build, very interesting, this would make a good 'Tutorial', looking forward to seeing the rest. pete
  24. hazmail

    first one's

HellRaiser -great foiling job, show us more pictures when you attach lips etc.pete
  25. Best advice I have got is - finding the address to TU - there is a wealth of info in here - I am a bit miffed that I missed the posts pre 2006, as I suspect the original posters are- BUT the new Tutorial's should fix that. pete
