  1. Kribman. I do not know what a Jake bait is, so I can't help you much here. I would suggest you use the search feature (top tool bar) for a start, as there will is heaps of info about the subjects you requested there. Otherwise sit tight and someone will jump on this with an answer. Just noticed the time there, you may have to wait until tomorrow. pete

    Test Tank

Todd. I was thinking, if you had a swimming pool to do that 'swim' test in, you would not be asking 'How to build a test tank'. pete
  3. Riverman- I forgot to mention, it's Sunday here, so by tomorrow (your tomorrow) it should be 28 deg and raining there too. Back to the future, pete

PBB- I'm back and you are right, 'Plug banana standard' (4mm) 56c and 'Socket banana plain' 4mm 50c, thats $1.06c a set, again I apologise for misleading you. Also I did not mention D2T cost me $8 postage so thats $11 a go, the petrol we just used to go to Dick Smith Electronics cost me $6.06 a gallon !!!!!!!!!!!!! We know now why you call it 'The land of the FREE'************* see web adress and search for "Plug Banana" etc, as above, they do mail order, and from a lot of experience, it should cost you about $8.00 postage http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.filereader?+EN/catalogs/CTG0005621 The set I just bought are both yellow. pete

    Gold Mylar Foil

3'', Kauri Pine, through wire, weighted for a change up to 12gm - Poorer quality foil than the red so got a couple of wrinkles, still a great effect though , pete
  10. Dave. It looks just like the 'Huntsman' spider I squashed last night. Great work, I can see these hanging out of the trees shortly. pete
  11. Try This I have been playing with these for a while now; you need a variable heat model, which most of them are. As I have said in a previous post (3 months back) I initially knocked off my daughter
  12. Hawghuua The hook hanger is made of brass (1mm), I had a die made about 20 years ago and had about 3000 stamped out- very strong and they add some weight. I used to sell lures back then.pete

Jimmie I am not sure where you live, but "Radio Shack" is the go in US, or here 'Tandy' or 'Dick Smith Electronics' Ask for 'banana jacks' and 'sockets', they cost about 25c each ( even here). pete Maypo9715 posted this earlier in this topic: I also like your idea of the Electrical Jacks. A nice modular kind of approach. You could even install a couple of these on the inside surface of you Paint Booth to hold your lure while painting or in between color changes. BTW I am familiar with these types of jacks and they are normally called Banana Jacks (RCA Jacks are the jacks usually seen on the back of a set of speakers). These are easy to find at Radio Shack (Expensive) or Mail Order (Cheap) from Allied, Newark or Digikey any many discount online stores. Thanks, Steve
  15. Mike that post is pretty long winded, but it works, since then I have made a small former or press (brass tubing) with which I make all my lips now. I will post another way of hot bending (for r/ angle bends etc) soon, I just have to take some pictures, as you can see from that old post, I can type all day and it just confuses everyone. pete

    Flatside UL crankbaits

Whittler - as all ways , very classy lure and finish. pete
  20. Lostfisher- I have never 'tin foiled' but under mylar plastic I use my Propionate 'brew' (2-3 coats), let it cure , sand it smooth and glue it without any white primer etc. pete
  21. Jim - the plate is aluminum 4" dia 1/16" thick, small I know but so are the lures, you have to think of 'tip speed' here also - bigger diameter, bigger tip speed.pete

Vodkaman-Dave. I can see the dowell would also be good (and cheap) and you could stick the dowell into the end of the jack, it would have a wider jaw than those exacto knife do-dars. pete
  23. 'rlcam'- I don't want to ruin your Christmas, but I bet some will work and most will not. Been there done that, like you I just could not help myself. Merry Christmas. pete
  24. Doug - have you tried this Du Pont 'Imron' over Devcon 2T. I'm thinking it may make it more scratch resistant. pete

I have been using xacto type clamps attached to an RCA (?) jack for a few months, works quit well, but I am finding that my Propionate brew ( thinners based) is melting the plastic blade clamp. If you buy the metal type clamp ( see
