Thank's vince, I may slow down a bit now that it's coming on Summer. Still getting used to the D2Ton, but your good advice has shortened that journey. Pete

  11. Seem's pretty early , but here's the first shark attack this spring, and it was only a small one. I grew up on the coast and surfed until I was 25- would not get me in there now. Pete http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,22587337-661,00.html
  12. Did I mention it's 'Spring' here-------------- FINALLY. pete
  13. I have bought small springs in small plastic boxes at Auto Parts stores. As Cartrpill says, find a car wreck and you will have more springs than you can carry. Pete

    Tiger Snake

Hand carved, Kauri Pine, 3" x 10gm's, bent poly lip, unweighted. True colors are Dark choclate, copper and yellow. pete
  15. Alman-They have been making these for about 50 years. They have a good casting weight and you do not need a quick retrieve speed, troll at about 4-5 Km/h or faster (you can tell by the rod tip). Because they are all lead and plastic and heavy (and inexpensive) the fish tend to be able head shake and throw them, there is a rig which minimises this, I will try and post it tonight (I'm supposed to be working now). pete
  16. I know depth is not the end all of lure making (certainly not for me anyway). I was astounded 2 days ago when fishing and trying some new colors on my 3" lures to find that they were regularly hitting bottom at 15' and this is a 10gm lure (unweighted)- the only thing that I have altered recently is about 2 degrees on the lip which is 1mm Poly instead of 1mm Al. This minor alteration has increased depth by about 5'-6'. Like you all are saying weight is not everything. I have put this extra depth mainly down to the difference in weight which is quite minor (influence lure balance) between Al and poly lips (caught 1 x 4.5lb Brown) Pete
  17. Great stuff Dave, I'm going to check out 'vortex shedding' - wish I could think that deep (No pun intended) . pete
  18. Lapala, just checked out Photobucket site, you have some delicious lures/carvings there. pete

    Crackle

"crackle medium", buy it at any arty farty shop, there are heaps of manufacturers, I have "JoSonja" but have not used it yet, but have used others- and follow the directions. This for acrylic paints I don't know about auto enamels etc. pete
  20. Swede /Alman- Have you tried these, they come in 118 colors, dynamite on rainbows/browns here (I think I must have every color !!) 13gm model is the most popular, cast or trolled. pete http://www.wigstonslures.com.au/#
