  1. Buy a walking sinker mold, pour them cut off the eyelet area and get a screw in eyelet and screw it in and you have them.
  2. Got to Capt Hooks http://www.captainhookswarehouse.com/index.cfm?page=detail&hookid=175&view=1 They have them.
  3. Try butt rings with a touch of solder on them.

    Coiled Wire

The coiled wire I was looking at was the 1/4 pound coils and 1 lb coils that LPO is selling. They claim its torsion straightened. Are we all discussing the same thing? I don't know what brand they're selling but I use the American Fishing wire brand that I get from Janns's Netcraft. Once you bend it it's fine. If you're really worried about it get your forms made by Mustang wire http://www.mustangwire.com/ If it's something they already have it's cheaper but if not it'll cost.
  5. Jann's netcraft has a really good yellow - don't know who they get it from. The olive is easy - Dark olive 2 parts black 1 part yellow Light Olive 2 parts yellow 1 part black
  6. fisheye Nice looking jigs!!! If you're really into tying crappie jigs you should give a visit over to jigcraft.com. Lots of good tyers and you might find some more ideas for new ties!!!
  7. Posting the differences between what the Netcraft one will do. I've posted my spinners on other boards and have had the question "Is there a way to get a smaller eye". I always try and post as much info as I can and let the person make their final decision. I've taken to using roundnose plier to make smaller eyes on my 1/32nd spinners as I don't like the big eye from the Janns former, and the Worth hand former is kinda dangerous to your fingers!!
  8. Here's some of the spinners Look at the size of the eye, the one on the left is a Rooster tail and the one on the right my copy cat You can also make spring coils for old style spinners If you look in the bottom pic in the middle you'll see a wire coiled above the bottom , You push the spring up put a hook or fly whater you want and then squeeze the wires back together and pull the spring down.
  9. I hear ya on that Toad. When sales of that mold tank - they'll probably come out with a re-designed one. As for making suggestions to them don't bother - they'll never get back to you.
  10. Have you fluxed your lead?? This really helps clean the lead and helps it pour well. When your lead is all heated take a flat head screw driver move it up and down along the sides of the pot. Get heavy gloves on and do as atijigs stated, I use an old bass jig with heavy wire hook cut the barb off, bend it into an L shape. Put a pot under the spout lift the handle and push it in and out. If you have some spinner making wire you can take a really long piece and do it from the inside also - just follow the pour bar until it comes out the pour spout. flux your lead and stir it, you'd be surprised at the junk that comes up. You say you have "good Lead", is it pure, tire weight, 50/50 mix??? I've got a bullet head mold that HATES pure lead, have to use tire weight in it. Let us know how you do!!
  11. One thing on the Tackle tool is you're not going to get really small eyes like the boggs!! I'll post some of the stuff I can make on the Tackle tool, that I havn't seen made on the boggs - I think I also have an instruction sheet on the boggs at home and what it can make. I'll post more later
  12. Check with Hagens they do custom work
  13. This what you're looking for??? Expensive!!! http://www.readysetglo.com/categories/Glow-Paint-%252d-Day-Neon/
  14. Here's a few of my latest - they all have folded clevis's This is one I copied for my nephew - the one on the left is the Rooster tail one on the right is mine
  15. Use powder paint and use a brush tap technique. It takes some practice but it works great!!!
  16. I recently got into brush tapping powder for custom paint jobs. I've made a bunch of colors and for glitter use clear powder with just the glitter to give your jig the glitter clear coat. What colors are you looking for that you cant match??? There are some folks who are making some amazing looking jigs, with the brush tap method. It takes time to learn but it WORKS!!!! For powder eyes check out this thread from JigCraft.com http://www.jigcraft.com/jigcraft/showthread.php?tid=2388
  17. With alot of help from Cad I built a bunch of beds but mine are mostly 2", and I now have two 3" beds. Heres how I built mine picture and description step by step. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/jig-tying-lure-making-forum/218053-repost-fluid-bed-build.html Fatman
  18. I really don't worry about it - I tear up my plastics to fast anyway throwing in the trees. Get yourself one of the cauterizer tools for plastics and just fix them as you go.
  19. If you want Worth Blades go straight to Worth http://lurecomponents.worthco.com/ or check out Hagens - you can buy less than minimum amounts you just have to figure it right - call the order in if you do!!! I sure hope you had insurance (even if you rent) - I may shell out $245 bucks a year for mine but it's complete replacement - you have to take A LOT of pictures of your stuff but that's the easy part and then keep it updated. And if you do rent your landlord my have it covered as part of a lease - check it out just to make sure!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Never noticed any difference between a plastic or metal bead above the body for the clevis to rest against. BBK - are you using the solid brass folded clevis's?? The only time I've ever had one fail is when I screwed up and didn't leave enough space when wrapping the eyelet on the spinner. LureParts has what they call a magnum clevis used on heavy wire for musky and pike spinners http://lurepartsonline.com/Magnum-Clevises.html?partner=1001
  21. Short You can but I'll recommend against it, as most times it won't show up. I've been taught by some really good folks, who will tell you to get some clear powder paint and mix your glitter in, and don't be afraid to put the glitter in!!! Dip your regular color then reheat and dip in the clear with the glitter in it - or use a brush and tap the paint on - it takes some practice but it really works well. I messed up and wasted ALOT of clear mixing it with color and then glitter and finding the glitter didn't show through. Hopefully this will save you some time!!!!!!!!
  22. Make sure you're not using to small of a clevis, based on your wire size!!! larger wire means needing a bigger clevis or it can bind up on you. I used to use stirrup clevis's but changed over to folded ones they just work better. A cheap test I do when making mine is hold it straight up and down and take a breath and blow towards the blade, if you can't get it spinning by the third blow check the components of your spinner and try again. The blades like rooster tails are minnow blades and I've found with those if you put a slight cup to the blade it will spin better. Let us know how you make out and if you need more help just ask. I've made lots of spinners over 20 years and I've only had maybe 10 that didn't want to work right.
  23. The Hilts website (Dophin Sports) is still open but they're having alot of problems with their website - email or call for help. This was the answer I got back cause I was trying to download the catalouge. On the mold you were looking at getting the description on the ON-LINE store shows: CGZ-M 1ea. 1/8,1/4&3/8oz Your favorite 90deg bend jig hook 1/0-3/0 $34.95 I've been watching the posts on the EL570bp hooks and have only heard good things about them. I might get a couple of hundred black chromes just to try them but really getting sick of the red ones. Thanks for the info!!!
  24. Smalljaw If someone will sort, replace any that won't fit or are broken before sending to you yes I would take them. BUT!!! I would still sit down and dry fit the hooks in the mold before pouring just so it doesn't slow you down. I'm actually getting to the point with the red ones of taking a dremel and carefully making the eyelet slot in the molds bigger for the long shank that comes on many of the Matzuo's. I haven't tried the black chrome ones yet - do they hold up better than the bronze or red ones??? and do they cost the same?? I'd love to find a place that will sort them before selling to me!!!!!!!!!!! If you'd care to share where you're getting this deal PM me and if not that's cool too.
