  1. Silver plated http://www.mepps.com/fishing-article/genuine-silver-plate-vs-silver/71 Not sure on the Blue Fox but I believe it's silver
  2. spydermike Here's the link for the swivels munkin was talking about http://www.roscoinc.com/imported_line_lock_swivels.html now that I see what the swivels are I could probably mod one of my sinker molds and not have to buy a new mold.
  3. This guy is a big collector and you could check prices against what he's looking for http://www.antiquelures.com/Prices.htm The Best book I've heard of is Captain John's Fishing Tackle Price Guide. It's on Google books - but I can't log in from work so it only let me view a few pages - then it said I reached my limit.
  4. Crym Go to Target or Walmart and get a little stand up thermometer, around 5-6 dollars for a decent one and test what your toaster oven is at. There was a thread on another board where the guys were finding that temps were off by 5-20 degrees. I know powder coated jigs are tough but if you're continually bouncing them off rocks they can chip. Fatman
  5. I've used blades from Worth and Hagens and a few odd ball ones here and there from Janns to see if they'd meet my needs. Last I heard Janns obtained most of their blades from Worth - but I can't confirm this for sure. I've never been disappointed by any of the blades from the above three companies. Fatman
  6. For that size grub I wouldn't use anything less than .031 stainless steel wire. The hook shouldn't matter to much as long as you use the right size blade, for that size grub you're minimum is gonna be a #3 - no matter what type of blade you use. You can buy the same hooks from Mister Twister here http://www.mistertwister.com/information/keeper-worm-hook/388#description a little better but not much. But Smalljaw is right you can use that Mustad 91768 EWG which is pretty pricey, or what I use is an old Eagle Claw 45 automatic worm hook - which works just as good. But look around at different worm hooks they'res a bunch out there. If you need more help give a shout. Fatman
  7. Yes you are correct they are. I was just being a butt by trying to purchase from Shorty's without a number. Have bought alot from the Capt's side of the house.
  8. Hey Don't know if you still have the trebles or not but I'd be looking to buy some from you, as I don't make crankbaits. How much would you want for 250 of them??? Let me know if you're interested in selling - You can also reach me at dopeys62@yahoo.com Thanks Fatman (Doug)

  10. Jig man I tried just for kicks to see if I could order through Shorty's and with out the tax Id# you can't. You have to go through Capt Hooks.
  11. A buddy of mine use's stainless steel oval split rings. but he says they can be a pain to put them on http://www.luremaking.com/catalogue/catalogue-index/catalogue-items/split_rings/oval_split_rings.htm Fatman
  12. Glad to hear you're ok. Any old lead pipe or any lead for that matter, after I put it in I put a lid on it just in case, and you'll know when there's any moisture cause it will rattle the pot. And as the others have said cut back on the wax. Again glad you're ok. Fatman
  13. Any that I get I cut into chunks and put it in the pot and put a lid on it, just in case. You can't totally get everything out of it so safety first.
  14. If you have Microsoft office, you should have Word. Go to Envelopes/Labels tab and pick business card. You can put a logo on it and whatever else you want. You can print them on plain cardstock and then cut them out. Or get the box of labels for business cards and pick that option when designing them. Or do 1 card up on computer and print it including color or black and white your choice. Then take it to Staples or Klinko's, not sure if Office Depot has a print operation we don't have one here, and get a quote on how much they'll charge you. Would save on Ink Jet cartridges, cause they use a lot of ink.
  15. Hey gang, I had posted on another board with Hawn about about the Mustad Hooks, but I must of missed part of it. Hawn are you talking the Blue/white box??? I bought 8 thousand mustads from Capt Hooks and they're made in China but it must have been before they changed their production standards/facility. They're in a Blue/white box and no problems. WHEW!!!!!!!!!! I still have a bunch of the Mustad jig hooks in the old white 1000 count box/s from the late 80's early 90's which I believe say Auburn, NY!!!!! On a recent buy from ebay got 250 size 10 trebles and the box also says Auburn NY. On the Eagle Claws, I have never noticed a problem, but I don't make the big bass jigs like you guys do. Mine only go up to a 1/4 oz. ball head. I have a bunch of old stock Eagle Claws too. One of my nephews friends was over with him the other night and he saw all the box's of EC 45 Automatic worm hooks, I thought he was gonna have heart failure. He whipped out a $50 bill and said one box of 3/0's, since I had 4 box's the cash went toward another Doctor's bill!!! Cad, I'm with you on the EC's though I want to see what the cost of them is gonna be when they go to Lazer Sharp. I'll buy a couple hundred to see if theyre any good but I gotta see price first. Funny how the wife thinks 15,000 jig hooks is enough???? LOL.

    Fluted Blades

Hagens has the sizes you want but they only go to .020. As for quantity you can get less than the 500 minimum quantity and then add a dollar. If I did this right 500 Indiana Fluted size 6 are $188.36. That would make a 100 $37.67 ($188.36 / 5)+ $1 for less than minium which is $38.67. You can get a quantity discount at LPO but it ain't all that great. #6 Mag .040 Fluted Indiana Blades Nickel 2 pak You'd need to buy 50 packs (2x50=100) they go to $1.44 a pack with the 10%discount. total without shipping is $72.00, and right now on the Size 6 they only have 20 packs left, 40 total $28.80. Just some comparisons Fatman

    Trailer hook.... cant find

Check here at Capt Hooks http://www.captainhookswarehouse.com/index.cfm?page=detail&hookid=792&view=1&sizeID=17 they also list alot of other ones under the on-line specials. Good folks to deal with. Fatman
  18. Glad it helped!!! Those Erie Dearie molds are my last to get!!!! Only took me 5 years to get the old Silver Buddy blade bait style mold!!!!
  19. Steve As Cad said you don't have to have special stuff for flux. Get some old candles and break a piece off and put it in the pot, sometimes you have to light it sometimes it does it on it's own. Stir it really good, after you do this do it again. If the pot keeps clogging up I'd pour the lead out and really clean the pot, and look at getting some different lead. I've never had a problem like you describe. My first Lee IV I bought in 1984 and it's beat but still produces jigs like crazy, and my new one has hardly been used and it's over 10 years old. I'd pull your order sheet and call Lurecraft and tell them about the problem with the lead. As the pot is new you should not be having problems like this.

    WTB, Tail Spinners

I ran that mold number through DoIt and it didn't come up. Are you talking about the old one that made like Mann's little georges??? Fatman
  21. Man when those old DoIt molds for the Erie Dearie style come up on Ebay they go for ALOT!!!!!!!!! I've lost on every one I've tried to get. Good Luck If I hear of anyone that has one I'll let you know Fatman

    Pheasant Feathers

Wow, wish the hens were full skins, I'd snap them right up. Fatman
  23. Steve Getting used to a bottom pour from a hand pour is kinda weird. I don't know for sure what type of lead Lurecraft has, but I would flux it no matter what. Use a dowel wood rod to stir your lead. I pour some of my molds down to 1/32nd with tire weight lead and don't have any problems. Get an old jig and a tin pie plate use heavy gloves. Gut the barb off the jig and bend it in an L shape and with the pan underneath pull the pour rod and push the shank of the hook up the spout and see if it's just a clog. When pouring I never have my pot on more than 6. When pouring, tip the mold down so the stream of lead goes in an angle. No pouring method is 100% and I get a few rejects now and then. Just keep practicing and you'll get it down without a problem. Fatman
