  1. Bruce Even if you got paint in the holes of the blade it would be easy enough to get it out. If the spinning of the blade would be a problem you could always do what us Bass fisherman do with a regular buzz bait and hold it out the window of your car and it would help break it in before you got there. 2. Phil, I am in no way a rod builder but watch the products that the guys on rodbuildingforum put out. I wish I had the patitence and talent to make one myself (actually the guts to even try LOL) A lot of them go through Mud Hole Custom www.mudhole.com Many of them use MudHole for blanks and the above website might help, if not you could always call and tell them what you're looking for and they might be able to help you out. The guys always say they have great customer service and it might be worth a shot. Good Luck Fatman
  3. As far as paint for plastic baits I have to defer that to other members who know about it. As far as lead goes you can use powder paint I use some powder paint and also use some testor's, cabela's and then use a two part epoxy to cover it and it protects against plastics. Start out with what you can afford and see what suits your need's the best then go the best and cheapest route. Fatman
  4. Heck buddy when I lose them all I know where to get more!!!!! Fatman

  6. Jigmeister, You'll like the blade's they're excellent. I ordered from bass a while ago and they work great. Fatman
  7. They worked alright for me but then they were a gift from my wife. I used nothing but the Banjo's for a week but the cost of them actually made more sense to me to rig fluke the same way and I can make the spring parts on my wire forming tool. The only two of the informercials that I bought and used myself were the Flying Lure by Alec Langer and the Zebco Indestructible rod. I love the flying lure it really does work!!!! Great for folks who can't skip jigs up under docks!! ME. Every rod I've ever let my nephew use until he bought his own got broken. I saw the show where they used a PVC pipe and put the rod in and used compressed air to shoot it at a brick wall. I figured what the heck, and bought one and I'll probably buy him another, they're that good a rod. Fatman
  8. Try Captain Hook's discount Captain Hook's Discount Warehouse They list that they have them Fatman
  9. Man I really wish I had a digital camera to show these blades to you guys. I SCORED BIG TIME at the flea market this weekend on some old Weller spinner blades. A lady's husband used to work for them back in the day and she had about 1500 of them. Silver, Copper, Brass and even a few gold in 0,1 and 2. Got em for $10 bucks. Real deep cup in the blade and work great on my spinners. If I can find a neighbor who has a digital I'll see if I can get some pics. Fatman

  17. I wouldn't use a drill to be clearing your pour spout wether lead or plastic, one slip and you're into the heating element or worse you screw up the pour spout. Use a piece of wire to clear it our spin the lift rod with a screwdriver to clear it. Fatman

  23. So Hawn with your experience in this would you recommend the 60% bis/ 40%tin or a 58/42% mix??? I'm leaning at the 60/40!! Thanks for letting me know about the tin for split shot, maybe I'll just give up thinking about those and buy them, hopefully leaving more money for the lead-free material. Fatman
  24. Take a piece of cotton pad and go around the insides of your eyes on your rods and if theres a nick or scratch it will catch the cotton. If that doesn't find anything use a magnifying glass and check them Old trick from Uncle Homer in an article I read. Fatman
