  1. Yeah it's one of the better sites out there Fatman
  2. Fly Anglers online is an excellent site. There fly tying lessons go from beginning to intermediate to advanced all building on previous steps and the step by step is excellent. Fatman
  3. Well these tips straight from Bassmaster and two of their pros: Filing and Drilling Some anglers modify baits to make them run even deeper. Tennessee crankbait ace Ricky Shepherd thins the fat bill of his Mann
  4. For the quarter ounce ones I've used a size 1 for the 3/8 and 5/8 a size 2 or 3. You can get them pretty cheap at Jann's Netcraft. Fatman
  5. I've tried it and don't like it. Too many get powder down the hole even with a guide wire for dipping and when you bake them to get the powder hard you cant get it all out even with the wire guide. To me it seems much easier to just paint them by hand, I use testors paint and then epoxy coat them. I'd imagine stringing them on wires and using an airbrush would be easier but you'd have to wait for the airbrush guys to chime in.
  6. I don't know about quantities up to 10,000 but I use the ones from Jann's on my Pony jigs and they work great!!!! You could always call them and ask about a larger quantity. The only other place I can think of is Hagens. Fatman
  7. Hell I'd like to see a mold to make Flying Lure jigheads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got lots of bodies but never enough jigs
  8. Hey Gang, Have a friend who started using Erie Dearie style baits on Lake Champlain and I went to the Do It catalouge and they no longer carry it. I've checked Ebay and not seen it yet. Does anyone know where else I could find one??? Thanks for any help. Fatman

    What is this?

When you skim the lead pot to get all the dirt and slag out make damned sure that the can you put it in is dry and no moisture cause it can splatter and get you. Just a tip from someone who learned the hard way a lonnnnnnnnngggggggggg time ago. Fatman
  11. Yeah they're having the same problem with the Pony Head Mold, because of Blakemore (Road Runner), and they have a big notice in the catalouge about it. Some of these tackle companies are getting out of hand, I labeled mine when I sold to some local shops Dougs Do it Pony Head Jigs, and they used to put them right next to the road runners. Fatman
  12. Kinda like a River Runt sinking crankbait. They work really good. Fatman
  13. Wish I could paint worth a )()&()*&)(&()*& I'd try cranks but I just don't have the talent for it. Fatman
  14. Miles, I used to have the same problem with my Production Pots (I'm assuming you have the production pot IV). If you make spinners of any kind or spinnerbaits take a piece of the wire about 2 1/2 times the length of the pot. Melt a 1/3 of a pot of lead and wait for it to come to temp. When it's all set use a screwdriver on the top of the opening bar it has a slit in it and just twist the bar back and forth. Big thing keep a collection pot under the pour nozzle. Take the wire and slide it along the pour bar and run it out the nozzle and run it back and forth, and it should clean it right out. Adjust the bar until it doesn't drip after removing the wire. Hope this helps Fatman
  15. Sorry bud thought it copied in, click on the title below NETCRAFT TACK-L-TOOL KIT $22.99 Fatman
  16. Jann's Netcraft has a great little wire forming tool that you attach to your workbench and it will make every kind of bend you need. About $20 comes with a book of wire tricks and definately worth it. have had mine for 12 years and it's still going strong. Fatman
  17. Owner makes some heavy duty saltwater split rings and the smaller ones work good on bass baits. I've hooked some big Northern pike using them on baits and haven't had one straigtened out yet. Check http://www.anglerscenter.com/terminal_rigging_owner.htm and you can order straight from them. About $3.50 for 10 but they've worked for me. Fatman

    Arkie Mold

I've checked the whole Do-It catalouge and they don't have a 3/4 ounce mold for them only 1/43/81/2 Wish this had come up sooner, there was an original arkie single cavity jig mold on ebay but it's gone now. Fatman

    Needing help

Theres an aution on ebay right now for 15 packs of Hildebrandt spiinner blades. The only difference between most spinner blades and those from tackle parts cats. is the plating of the blade. The more premium of a blade you buy the closer you'll get. Other than that go to their web sites and try to buy replacement packs of blades. Fatman
  20. Crazy, Doesn't surprise me a bit it being wood, yeah theirs plastic one's on the market but the wood one's are the best. You'd think they were gold on ebay, wood or plastic they ain't cheap. I have 8 or 9 of them and some are used and some not. I wish the company that even made the plastic ones still made em, great bait for largemouth and the mini ones are great for smallmouth. Do you guys remember the OLd Mudbug??? There's another great fishin bait. fatman

  24. Hey all, Do any of you with tackle shops know of any web stores or web sites that I can find the following Betts bobbers: Billy Boy B200W-50R Weighted Oval Foam Snap-On Float -- Yellow 2" Betts product code: B200W-50Y No Gander Mountain near me, Dicks doesn't carry them. Any help would be great. Thanks, Fatman
  25. Make a bunch of pours without hooks in the mold. This warms the mold and you shouldn't have any problems at all. If the mold cools make a few more pours without hooks again. Fatman
