  1. I've never used a curado but my buddy bought a Revo Premier a few weeks ago and he has it paired with a Bass Pro Johnny Morris rod...it is super light and will cast a mile! i think the reel only weighs like 6 ounces.
  2. Mine changes from week to week but right now it anything in Red Craw. I especially like the Matte Crawfish color available on the Yo-Zuri Hardcore Drum
  3. after reading this thread, i decided to do this to an old Bass Pro rod i had laying around, turned out pretty nice, I'll post pics later. I went to Lowe's and picked up a heat gun for $24 to loosen up the epoxy from the grips, it worked great. After heating, the epoxy came right off and I was able to smooth it out using some fine sandpaper.
  4. I bought this one about 4 months ago: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=34843 So far it works great, and is pretty quiet.
  5. I bought one of his baits awhile back ago...Its incredible! I dont fish it though, i have it above my bench as a goal. I hope to be able to make baits that nice someday.
  6. I just started using www.fishingskirts.com. They are my go to place now. The past 2 orders i place, i ordered on Friday morning and i had them in my hand Monday evening. Very fast service!
  7. those tubes are awesome. where can i get some??
  8. I played with one the other day while i was there, they are smooth and feel good, but i think the Tierra is a little smoother and feels like its built with higher tolerance for the same price. Dont get me wrong the Pro feels great for the price, i dont think you can go wrong with it.
  9. I recently changed all of my favorite molds over to Alumiulite RTV. It works great! Of course the curing time is a lot longer, about 6 hours per side.
  10. on your browser, go to File, Save Page As. That will save the current page your viewing to your hard drive
  11. 45-65% lighter. I just put a set of these on my latest rod: http://shop.mudhole.com/Shop-Our-Catalog/Silicon-Carbide/TLVSG-Spin-Cast-Guides I love 'em...little pricey but i think they are worth it.
  12. BTW, Welcome to TU, PA StriperChaser
  13. Welcome! Caution: Severe addiction WILL ensue
  14. i would epoxy them in, if for nothing else, for the peace of mind.
  15. hmm, thats an idea. i've used 50lb mono for weed guards on flies before, that might work. Thanks for the reply!
  16. I've been wanting to put weedless trebles on some of the lipless cranks im making but im having a hard time finding them. Cabelas carries them online http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0000010112958a&type=product&cmCat=Search_Results_NYR&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=weedless+treble&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=weedless+treble&noImage=0 but not in store and Im trying to avoid having to order them online at the moment since im switching between banks. Any body have any idea how one could make these? It almost looks like the guards are soldered in but im not to sure how that would hold up.
  17. Hello, im Aaron.. I got into lure making about a year ago and i blame all of you for getting me hooked on it!! just kidding. Im 27, engaged and have a 5 year old son. I recently moved to St. Charles MO and mostly fish Coffeen Lake in IL, where im from. I mostly build jigs, spinnerbaits, lipless cranks and a few cranks....havent quit got the cranks down yet.
  18. sanding before painting will help the paint adhere better, otherwise you run the risk of the paint chipping off while your applying your final coat of D2T
  19. I've had this problem also...I prime my lures with Createx white, let dry then the rest of the paint and coat with D2T. It started chipping on the nose and working back, the D2T and the finishing paint would come off but never the primer. What i found was D2T doesnt coat square edges very well so if you round the edges slightly it will cover better. Mine were custom builds using Poplur wood.
