  1. I've been wanting to put weedless trebles on some of the lipless cranks im making but im having a hard time finding them. Cabelas carries them online

    http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0000010112958a&type=product&cmCat=Search_Results_NYR&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=weedless+treble&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=weedless+treble&noImage=0

but not in store and Im trying to avoid having to order them online at the moment since im switching between banks. Any body have any idea how one could make these? It almost looks like the guards are soldered in but im not to sure how that would hold up.

  2. Hello, im Aaron..

I got into lure making about a year ago and i blame all of you for getting me hooked on it!! :D just kidding. Im 27, engaged and have a 5 year old son. I recently moved to St. Charles MO and mostly fish Coffeen Lake in IL, where im from. I mostly build jigs, spinnerbaits, lipless cranks and a few cranks....havent quit got the cranks down yet.

  3. I've had this problem also...I prime my lures with Createx white, let dry then the rest of the paint and coat with D2T. It started chipping on the nose and working back, the D2T and the finishing paint would come off but never the primer. What i found was D2T doesnt coat square edges very well so if you round the edges slightly it will cover better. Mine were custom builds using Poplur wood.

  4. thanks, lots of fun to make. sure beats watching American Idol:) . have a question for you. cannot figure out how to post photos in the gallery. i don't see any link to it on the web page or i'm just missing it. have some lures i'd like to show. thanks, john

Click on Gallery at the top, about a third of the way from the top is a link to upload your pics, its called "Upload". Hope that helps.

  7. Having trouble w/ my POP molds chipping around the cavities....I make 2 piece molds out of POP, after the mold has hardened enough, i break the 2 pieces apart. Then i put the 2 halves in the oven at 400 degrees and bake them for ~2 hours. the problem im having is they dont last long, some only a couple of pours, the plaster starts cracking or chipping away around the cavities. I tried to epoxy around the edges, that helped some but not much. Any thoughts on what im doing wrong, or is that just he nature of the beast?

I went and picked up some bondo last night and going to give that a try this weekend.

    Aaron.

  8. Im thinking of ordering the parts to make my first rod but im a little confused on guide sizes. im thinking of getting a G.Loomis blank, here are the specs

    Length: 6'9"

    Power: medium

    Action: extra fast

    Tip: 4.5

    Butt: .571

These are the guides i was looking at getting for it:

Im not sure what size i should get and why i should get that size...any help would be appreciated!

  9. I started out making rat-L-traps and have come a long way since my first ones. I make them out of Popular. I cut the general shape i want then cut the bait in half lengthwise. Then i hollow out 2 cavities on each half, one for the weight and the second for the steel shot. I make one of the cavities almost the size of the bait got give the shot a lot of rattle. The cavities for the shot, i coat with epoxy, gives it a nice, loud sound. After you have the weight and shot in, glue the 2 halves together and finish shaping the lure. You can also make rattles out of copper tubing, but i find that the coat of epoxy is a little louder, and easier. Hope that helps some.

  10. Homestead has a nice interface for beginners, pretty easy to use. Not a bad choice there. Are you looking to design it your self or have someone else do it. The tools that Homestead include you can probably do the basics your self. If your looking to have someone do it, or need any help, PM me.

  11. I saw on one of these threads someone used MS Pub to foil and print a picture on tissue for a crankbait. Does anybody know of a free download that will allow you to flip a picture the other way, so you have the picture of the baitfish facing the right way on each side?

    Thanks for all the help.

    Brian
