  1. pure gum rubber is exactly that "pure rubber" Its hard to find in sheets that thick and I've only seen it in its natural color. look in your local yellow pages,or on the net for "pure gum rubber". heres a link Pure Gum - A Soft Tan Natural Sheet Rubber Product
  2. You could always make a test bait using screw eyes, that will allow you to determine the proper gap for your particular bait.
  3. the tails are from a sheet of pure gum rubber i had left over from making wrist rockets years ago.
  4. The lower bait was done with the mailing labels,I enhanced the color on photoshop before printing because the image tends to fade with regular printer paper, but with the mailing labels it didnt fade at all. I'll probably back off on the color a bit on the next run.
  5. I'm pretty lame when it comes to top coating, I thin my d2t with a little denatured alcohol, then use heat where ever necessary, but my baits never wind up as nicely coated as the baits I see posted on this forum.
  6. The print doesn't smear on the mailing labels using a d2t top coat, I also use some shiny pearl nail polish on the belly to add flash. DSV, thats a great site for fish pics, thanks
  7. I'm using a canon inkjet, the label sheets made by Avery are for printers.
  8. Theres A guy using kevlar flexible strand for his hinges, but I havent seen exactly how that works yet.
  9. hmm, i didnt see the full sheets at walmart.
  10. Printing onto a sheet of 2"x4" mailing labels is a quick and simple way to transfer your image onto your bait. The labels stick well, and the paper is pretty durable. I'm almost finished with a bait using this method,I'll post pics soon.
  11. that things gonna swim in a serious S pattern ! good job

Just another cat,but with the photo skin method
  13. Yeah, its the same color I do my toes with.
  14. By coincidence I did a stress test on A replica of the joint i use in my pvc baits, at 75 lb the line tie opened up put larger screw eyes and added another bucket, then the 100#test broke. At that point i was out of buckets anyway, end of test.
  15. The colors are edited on photoshop, then printed and glued on,then touched up with some pearl nail polish and a black sharpie. check the post by Jamie for the hinge/pin method
  16. Yes please do, I'd like to see that
  17. Ca'mon hurry up already,I have to have one of these!
  18. "and then spray glued it to a piece of foil tape and stuck the foil tape on the lure" Good idea I've just been gluing my patterns directly to the lure body, which has a tendency to leave air pockets,I think I'll try it your way next time.
  19. In order to keep my hinges as discreet as possible, I use a dremmel to create cavities for the eyelets. This might not be practical for a wood bait, but it works well with expanded pvc. With the bait fully extended, the screw eyes are only partially visible Like Mark Poulson said "I'm still learning" and the screw eye/hinge pin method leaves lots of room for tweaking and tuning. The bead hinge/pin method Jamie posted about sounds very interesting, would love to see what that looks like.
  20. Do you have to back the foil with anything before you run it through the printer?

  24. I epoxy my screw eyes in basswood, but with expanded pvc I just screw them in without pilot holes or epoxy.
