    Copy of Triple Impact

Very sweet looking BobP! Let us know how it works.
  4. Here's my turner, Its a little fancier than my last one but the holders are the same. Just some springs, swivels, dowel, bushings, and a shotgun cleaner handle. Works great, you can rotate it all you want while spraying.
  5. Sweet. I like the way you have one clamp to hold the baits. It's kinda like mine, I use rubber bands and wire. Picture is a little blurry.
  6. Devcon alone will smear sharpies! spray your bait with createx clear after you sign your name and heat set it and your ready to go. I figured I'd reply because the other guys have seen this question so many times before that they may just pass you by. Their a bunch of great and knowledgable guys though, especially that rookie fellow who knows everything!!!!! lol
  7. One all around good airbrush for the price is the Capital 2006gf or 2007gf. You can find them on ebay or at airbrush city inc. It's similar to an iwata and you can get them with a .5mm tip. I used to stick up for this airbrush before I got a iwata! But it is a good workhorse gun.
  8. Thanks for the info Downriver. I really hate to get another epoxy post going here but I always appreciate the knowledge of those who have already tinkered around with this stuff. Saves us alot of time and money.
  9. Im with LK, they look horrible, send me one too!!! Great job.
  10. What's wrong with Denatured alcohol (besides being toxic). I use that sometimes and have also used acetone. I used D2T for a long time without thinning, but the bigger the baits got I just had to thin to get the stuff not to get hard on me, no matter how fast I went. You can heat a little to bring it back to life but I think that just speeds up the curing process. I think it really depends on your location, here in Fl is like 100 degrees with 100% humidity. The D2T sets up super quick. Hence my need to thin a little.
  11. No I have not tried the clear yet. I misted every coat thick. I have not tried to throwing it against a wall yet but you cant scratch the stuff. I think im going to stick with the D2T for a while until I get all the bugs worked out of the DN. Also cleaning your airbrush after spraying it is a booger. Im using my old capital 2006 gf to spray (Got me a new iwata hp-b, Very sweet gun) and after spraying I put some acetone in the cup and cover it. It usually works great but occasionaly it gets hung up in the nozzle. I usually dont paint alot of baits at once, just several at a time. I think if I was painting quantity this would be the way to go, you could coat them all real quick and not have to worry about the drying wheel. I think I will order some of the clear and see how it works.
  12. Ok, Im back on the D2t again. Did this one with it and just love the way it shines and I never really have a problem with applying it, the only thing with it is the humidity here, It always seems to be 100% and the epoxy lets you know it.
  13. I use two 5 inch springs on each side of my paintbooth. Got them from lowes about 3 bucks, Just bend a U on one end of each and hook them on the front and back eyes. I have one hooked to a swivel and the other to a dowel so I can rotate on its axis as I paint. I think I posted a pic of my paint booth a while back. Got a sweeter one now but still the same holder setup.
  14. Looks very cool, I can't wait to see your progress also.

    Signing lures

You ought to see rookie with a mcdonalds straw,Bob.......lol
  16. Real smooth. Its about 6 coats. couple min. inbetween coats. I like the way it looks. Just got to be real careful to get all the fuzz and dust off the bait first.
  17. Im using about the same as you. My first attempts brushing failed (and trust me they were heat set, almost melted the lure) I found out it was the krylon primer I was using, I switched to a etching primer and started dipping, they look great but when this stuff gets in the sunlight it really turns blue kinda changing the colors on my bait. Spraying cuts down on the blue and is really easy. I have a custom paint booth with a good vacuum and I just dont trust it. I started spraying outside. I'll put a pic on so you can see how they look.
  18. Some of my best baits in my box are my screwups. I probably couldn't give them away, But the fish seem to love those ugly critters..
  19. You were just scared to ask another epoxy question huh, mark. lol. Isn't it fun to learn the hard way! That was one of my first lessons. I've learned a hell of a lot with the good ole fashioned trial and error...
  20. I just started spraying DN and Acetone on my baits. Man I love this stuff. Very easy to apply and dries super quick (at least in this florida heat and humidity) you loose the high gloss effect but as far as applying its a breeze. Also I got the UV active DN which turns kind of a bluish purple in the sunlight, really cool looking. Just be sure to get a good respirator, atomized DN and acetone is not some you want in your lungs....I transferred my pint into a salsa jar like I read on past forums, just replace the lid and wrap with aluminum foil and a rubber band, works great.
  21. Been there and done that, more than once!!!
  22. Sorry got my stores mixed up. I get the rattle shad from Stamina. I think janns are the same product though.
  23. I love their rattle shads. I painted a bunch up to give the guys at our classic this year. I use them all the time and haven't had a problem.
