  1. Here is something to think about.. what if someone wanted an answer to an epoxy question and he did his search and did not find out the specifics he was looking for? Now, lets just say that one of the members had his answer but was a newer member and had not participated in those posts he had searched. Now he decides to ask the epoxy question in a new post knowing there had been a lot of posts on epoxy before. Suddenly the new member that had the answer reads the post and gives him the information he has been hunting for but has failed to find in the old ones. Now he has his answer, but he had to make a new epoxy post to get it. What is wrong with that? Just goes to show all the answers have not already been posted.

    Foiled crankbait

Thanks 75, it took me 2 days to just get the foiling to work right:eek:. I did it a few months ago and waited until my son came home Easter so he could show me how to put it in the gallery. Now I know how easy the pic was to move. :angry:I haven't done a foil since.

    Foiled crankbait

I gave the foil a try
  4. It seems I always come to this forum to read. These guys can make you feel at home.
  5. It's like any entry..If you do it quietly, no one knows you are there. Same with the "splash"
  6. I haven't posted much but I have been lurking in the background and trying to learn everything I can. These guys will amaze you with their work. I am not much when it comes to whittling, maybe its because I am getting older. Anything you want to know is somewhere in a forum. I get on here and read until I think I am going crazy. My wife walked in the other day and I was in the middle of the floor , going around in circles like Curly on the Three Stooges. Woob Woob Woob Yuk Yuk Yuk. There in not a thing wrong with me.
  7. This is how I prepare my wood baits for a repaint. Don't call me crazy just because I'm old. First I tape the bill and take the wood bait outside. I take a small torch and start at the tail of the wood lure and set it on fire. Yep, that is what I said. I set it on fire. I let the tail section burn a few seconds and wipe it with a rag. Then I do another section of it and just let it burn the paint for a few seconds and wipe again. Be careful not to get the hot paint on your hands. (you don't want to have to burn that off too.) When I get close to the plastic bill, I am very, very careful not to let the plastic bill get hot. I usually just scrape and sand when I get to this point. If you do it right it will be clean and ready for sealing. DO NOT try this with a plastic bait!!!! Just be careful..I hope this helps.
  8. I once fished a crankbait in Searsucker. I was very unconfortable. Seemed to make me sweat. Seriously though I like the greens
  9. Pete, there is only only one thing that is not normal in that pic. The toilet paper...please don't show us the chair you sit in:)
  10. That is way too nice a corner for me to airbrush . I might as well slit my throat as to paint in a place like that.
  11. spike, try this link http://www.muskytales.com/acatalog/info_246.html
  12. I shake the fire out of the Createx. You have to make sure the product is well mixed. I usually will hit it on the palm of my hand while shaking the bottle. This gets any settlements away from the bottom.
  13. Have a wonderful Christmas and that goes to everyone on this board
  14. My name is Jim and I live in Eastern Kentucky. I am retired and have just started in making my own baits. First of all I want to thank Fatfingers for the valuable information he has graciously given me to help get me started. I am new to this and don't have the expertise to help but I am hopeful that someday I will be able to give back to this wonderful group of people that make this the best board on the net.
  15. Harbour Freight [if one is in your area] has the small aircompressors for airbrushes. They have a couple different models. Get the best one they have and you will be pleased with it. I have never had a problem out of mine. The price is very affordable
  16. Riverman, I started inserting my needle from the front. That way the tip is never in danger of touching anything. I will pull the needle tip back and far enough inside the front of the brush to allow me to screw on the front hardware and then gently push the needle back into the tip of the brush after you have installed the front. That way everything is lined up and the needle goes right into the tip with no problem. I found out it is better than putting the needle in from the back and going all the way through.
  17. I take my Iwata apart and clean it after every use. I use cleaner and water. That way it is always clean for the next time when I am ready to start doing more baits.
  18. Rapala made a rap series that had cromegold on the side and green on top. It looks just like the lure in the pic. I thought it was one when I first saw the pic.

    How long?

How long do I leave my lures on the drying wheel? I use the Devcon2T.
