  1. Sure wish my first attempt (or 2nd, or 3rd) had looked that smooth. Real nice job. If I may offer a bit of a "tip"? Next time you apply your drywall tape, angle it so that you are looking at diamonds when you view the bait from the side. That is just my .02 and I know each has his or her own way of doing things. Nice looking job, would like to see it finished. David
  2. Did Mikey paint it with his straw??? Davod
  3. If you have a Harbour Freight near you, check out compressors there. I recently purchased one just for airbrushes and really like it. It is small, and provides 30psi constant. It is also adjustable for lower pressures (for detail work). David
  4. "OK, I just tried it and it looks pretty good. I suppose you'd want the paint scheme to be the other way though so the head is in the back and the tail is in the front." LooksLikeSinbad Do you really think the fish know difference? Great idea. Have you fished it yet? How does the weight of trailer affect the crankbait action? I do like the idea though. David
  5. And Mikey will probably get a better paint job with his straw than you have ever done . Just kiddin', someone had to say that and it might as well be me . David
  6. Yes, mylar baloons are as good as anything else. I think it is stronger than the candy wrapping (which I like also) but the color combinations are endless. David
  7. Pike, if you will send me your e-mail address I can forward the msg I got from Bob, and maybe save both you and Bob some time. David captsully18@aol.com
  8. BobP has a great method of hinges. Like he said hand twist two stainless wires into eyelets, one inside the other, and then drill holes and epoxie them in. Makes a very solid hinge and method is simple. I was having trouble with this same thing and contacted Bob and he e-mailed me pics. that cleared it right up. David
  9. I need to add to my previous post that I know for a fact that for price difference I would much prefer a Mattlures 6" Baby Bass or his Bluegill. Think they would catch as many fish and you could load a tackle box with 'em for that money. As far as art, Matt is just as much an artist. Sorry for rambling David
  10. Yeah, what Dean said. But I can tell you that I won't be buying one at 1G, and I don't think I'll be sittin' in the corner suckin' down "p" beer. Hey, if art be your thing then that bait is definitely what you want (beautiful)! Guess there will be no end to prices on baits. I congratulate Mickey on his bait, and would like to say that they have fabulous customer service. I always say "if you got it flaunt it". David
  11. Creekmonster, I would like to second your post. I have been a customer of Janns for several years now, and have never had one bit of trouble from them. They are super to deal with. David

    jointed lures

Mark, this excellent work. Nice lookin' joints. Very nice paint. You gonna retire first one since it already caught nice fish? Keep up good work. David
  13. Kribman, Jann's on-line catalog is just a bit more comprehensive than their published catalog. They have a lot of good stuff. Also, Mud Hole, Stamina, and Barlows, to name a few, have good selections also. Check 'em all out. Brave Viper, glad to hear that you're a firefighter. Retired from fire service after 30 yrs. svc. Best job I have ever had. Looks as though there are a lot of us on this forum. Best of luck to you, I know you work in one tough place. Proud of work you NY firefighters do. David
  14. Vman, also want to add my thanks for all your research on this subject and paring it down so even a dummy like me can understand. I admire all you intellectuals that can research this stuff. Keep up all your good work. David
  15. Rook, I really think that the guys at Bassmaster used you and Mikey as prototypes for their Harry N Charlie characters. You sure ya ain't from E. KY? Later David
  16. Hey Cuz, what's Mikey been feedin' that S-10. Never seen one with a belly like that! David
  17. Mark, keep brush at 90 deg. and lower pressure has helped me. Also, do not thin paint (if using Createx) as this will cause runs as air hits it. I have been using 10-14 lb. pressure and straight Createx with acceptable results. I say acceptable 'cause I'm old, feeble, and do not have a steady hand. David

    WOW

Lockjaw, one very sweet bait. Action is top notch. But all this has already been said. I would caution you about one very important thing. Watch out for other fishermen throwing baits at it to try and catch it! Awesome job, wish my baits would come out near that good. David
  19. Cool pic. Rookie. How did you get that bass to come up and pose with the bait for pic.? David
  20. Have no tips to offer, but must say they are lookin' good. David I like your joints

    Tilapia

Gene, have you used your tilapia in Mex.? And what date are you going to Guerrero? I'm goin to Huites on 18th. First trip to Mex. and I am so anxious. Would really like to catch one of those double digit bass, and that looks like a great pattern for 'em. David
  22. Eye candy! Like the colors. Dvid
  23. Matt, Fatfingers already said it, at first look I thought it would start wigglin'. Ya know, for a redneck ya don't do too bad. Really nice job man. first mold sucked. David

    Recent lures

Have to agree with Pete, you do come up with some of the most awesome paint combinations around. Very impressive. Obvious you come from family of artistic folks. David
