  1. I agree with Matt. Large companies did not start large. They started with an idea and grew from there. Really no different than us at times. I do pour lures that are copycat off of an origional. Different coloring, size, ingredients, etc. and I think it has some of my personality. I also design my own. If one of my designs took off, yep I would be ticked too if every "hand poured" bait site was selling a remake off of what I spent months working on. I guess I am sort of a hypocrite. I do know that the copycat bait I am pouring is not available in the color scheme I am using, nor ingredient wise. Anyway, not sure if I understand my own post, too early in the morning, Oh yeah, I agree with Matt!
  2. I have tried both. Poured when warm or cool. I think the plastic is pulling down due to the weight of the salt in this larger bait. I just finished a triple pour in that mold and had no dents. When pouring one color, I may try pouring it half full and then pour the rest after a short time.
  3. I am pouring the 6 inch Dels T Stick. I am getting dents in at least 2 out of 4 baits each time I pour. I have tried slowing down, thinner stream, etc.. I have read other suggestions on the forum, but cannot prevent them. I assume it is because it is such a bigger bait and more plastic involved. Any other remedies? Thanks
  4. Good info guys. If the tax is paid to the origional supplier, I do not see the need to register. I know that makes too much sense and I will probably have to register, regardless of how I see it. Does LC and Barlows, etc.. charge this tax to the buyer?
  5. In a nutshell, what does this mean to small time guys who sell a few baits on the side?
  6. You can experiment all you want with this. Scent goes a lot further if you just put a few drops in the bag. I do mix scent of all varieties in my pours. I do not think you can go wrong within reason.
  7. Those are good questions. Spend a little time in this section as these questions have been answered in detail many times. If you still have questions, please ask, but I know you will find the answers to those questions you just asked.
  8. I need some help from you "old timers". I made a mold that has two long thin appendages (pincers) that are about 6-7 inches long per side on a craw bait mimicking a freshwater prawn. No only are they a pain to pour, their durability is horrible. I left off these two pincers and replaced with rabbit hair threaded through the bait. Looks good.....but the rabbit hair made the bait float! If I added enough weight to sink it, it stood straight up and looks very un-natural. Any ideas? Del mentioned deer hair before, but I am not sure how to do this. I need something somewhat rigid like you would find on a crustacean. I am stumped. I have looked through all my supply mags, but just am against the wall on this. If you envision a Wave Worms Lobster Craw and replacing the normal claws with long pincers, you will have the general idea.
  9. I guess I was invisioning pushing the bait a little deeper into the POP so that I may get more roundness on it. If I did that and I allowed the POP to fully dry, the bait would break apart upon pulling it out, I think. Are you telling me I can't push the bait in that far, only flush?
  10. I have searched and maybe have not looked hard enough, but I have one question here. I have a clay prototype lure complete ( I have not baked it yet) If I use POP, how do I get the prototype out of the plaster? Should I leave the origional lure unbaked so that I can get it out of the POP? I feel stupid asking this question, but I have always bought my molds, never made any.
  11. Please save me some and PM the price to me.
  12. I was looking at the Hole in One Skirts on Bassdozer. How are these made? I like the fact that the colors are perm. seperated and the umbrella looks good.
  13. What mold are you using? Looks great
  14. Can anyone make a 3/4 oz weedless standup jig head or weedless football jighead with a 7/0 owner hook? Need some of these for a large craw plastic bait I am designing.
  15. Joined today. Been pouring baits for a couple of years, but am trying to develope a line specifically for an area I fish. Having some troubles and thought this would be a great place to research. Fish Mexico primarily for LM Bass. Look forward to chatting with you.
